Top Giuliani staffers to go without pay

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.l.cnn.net/cnn/2008/images/01/11/art.giulianistaff.ap.jpg caption="Top Giuliani staffers are going without a salary in January, CNN has learned."] MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) - CNN has learned that top staff members of Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign were asked to work without pay for the month of January, and perhaps longer, so that campaign resources could be focused on the Florida Republican presidential primary.

Two sources in the campaign, speaking on condition of anonymity, insisted the campaign was not in dire financial straits. A third campaign source, however, said "things are starting to get tight" and that "it was more telling than asking" the senior staff to forgo paychecks beginning the first of the year.

Another source disagreed, saying it was a "voluntary" move by senior staff members "so all of our resources could be targeted toward Florida...Our campaign is not living hand to mouth right now…"

The officials did not immediately provide a number of staffers who were subject to the new policy. Nor would campaign officials disclose the amount of money the campaign had in the bank.

UPDATE: The Giuliani campaign reports as of December 31 it has $12.7 million cash on hand, of which over $7 million can be used for the primary contests.

RELAX! This means nothing in the overall scheme of things. Campaign staffers have had their pay suspended in virtually every Presidential campaign for several candidates. Look for Rudy to win big in Florida and watch the big donors line-up to contribute.

Rudy by 8 pts in November…..

What color is the sky on your planet? If drag queen Rudy were so confident is his run he wouldn't be playing the match the money game with our tax dollars. BTW those little 8 points in the big scheme of things would mean nothing. It's the total count that cuts to the bottom line. Do you really understand this process? New to this country, or are you just joining the program already destroyed by Rove and his evil Diebold machine courtesy of Ken Blackwell? Can hardly wait to see how Rove will spin his attacks on Obama after he wins the nomination. Can everyone say racism? Of course it won't fly in the black districts of the south as the Klan is out numbered unlike Rove's chapter in Texas.

Rudy, you can’t be president of the United States, on just 9/11. Think ahead, you just might have a chance. NOT!

Only a neocon warmonger will be allowed to win this fraudulent election. If that was not the plan the states would not be using the voting machines. There is no substitute for paper ballots if the aim is accuracy. We must look very foolish to the rest of the world when we preach about democracy and fair elections.

Just checked a few minutes ago and here on planet Earth the sky is still blue, brother.

Wake up and smell the coffee, Chris! Rudy's got the juice in this campaign. Ya just won't see it until later this month. And do us all a favor and drop the nonsensical diatribe about Karl Rove and Ken Blackwell. Rove is the 800 pound guerilla in this campaign, particularly if he hooks up with Guiliani. Strategically and tactically, he runs a campaign like nobody's business. Race will not be an issue, at least it won't be in Guiliani's campaign. Blackwell? Well, all he did was conduct a full and impartial investigation of the voting results and machines used in Ohio in 2004. The machines were fine and Bush still won the state by 118,000 votes.

A quick math lesson for Chris. Of course the "total count" is the bottom line. No one would disagree. If 100 million votes are tabulated and Rudy wins by 8 pts., then guess what? It means he had a higher vote count than the other guy!!

Remember back in the '60s when most of the smart people seemed to be on the Left side of the ledger. Christopher is a fine example of why that intelligence seems to now lie on the Right........Geez!

With Rudy not going to survive from this incident along with so much baggage, it looks like John McCain is the republican nominee, unless Huckabee takes SC and Florida. If Obama gets a nomination, McCain could beat him handily. Be ready for Mccain as 44th President for sure.

  18. mmm Peanuts

This one time I went to NYC to see if I could score some sweet tickets to the monster truck fight in Chicago that weekend. I was walking down the street looking for the guy who sold me peanuts the last time I was in the city (I really liked peanuts with that special peanut sauce on them). Someone told me he had moved and that if I wanted peanuts then I'd have to go to the baseball park. Well, needless to say, the baseball park was blue. It was so crowded that I couldn't see the pidgeons that were going to buy me the peanuts. All of a sudden everyone started to leave the baseball park where they were playing the soccer game. Once everyone left and the music stopped there were lots of peanuts all over the place. None of them had the special peanut sauce on them. Stupid pidgeons.

    GO RUDY!!

While I don't agree with neo-con more-war 9/11 Rudy, his staffers going without pay shows the importance of money. When competing with the likes of Mitt who funds his own campaign (so he needs zero grassroots support), the other candidates only continue campaigning by the grace of their grassroots.

100-more-years-in-Iraq McCain and TaxHikeMike Huckle also have financing issues.

JDel: Giuliani dropped out of the Senate race due to his prostate cancer. He would have beaten the snot out of Hilary in the election. Believe it or not, but there's MORE to New York STATE than just NYC. Upstate loves Rudy.

Well that's telling. People who didn't have to live with his decisions love him, while the people that do hate him. Hmmmm.........

Also, I know with New Hampshire, polls are getting a bad rap, but Hillary was outpolling him. When she announced in February, early March figures had her down by 3 points. By early April, she was ahead by 8%. He dropped out at the end of the month, right after blowing off potential voters in Rochester to attend a Yankees game.

I might add that this was also right after the Clintons moved to New York, when voters were less likely to support her because they feared that she wasn't a New Yorker.
