Top Giuliani staffers to go without pay

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.l.cnn.net/cnn/2008/images/01/11/art.giulianistaff.ap.jpg caption="Top Giuliani staffers are going without a salary in January, CNN has learned."] MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) - CNN has learned that top staff members of Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign were asked to work without pay for the month of January, and perhaps longer, so that campaign resources could be focused on the Florida Republican presidential primary.

Two sources in the campaign, speaking on condition of anonymity, insisted the campaign was not in dire financial straits. A third campaign source, however, said "things are starting to get tight" and that "it was more telling than asking" the senior staff to forgo paychecks beginning the first of the year.

Another source disagreed, saying it was a "voluntary" move by senior staff members "so all of our resources could be targeted toward Florida...Our campaign is not living hand to mouth right now…"

The officials did not immediately provide a number of staffers who were subject to the new policy. Nor would campaign officials disclose the amount of money the campaign had in the bank.

UPDATE: The Giuliani campaign reports as of December 31 it has $12.7 million cash on hand, of which over $7 million can be used for the primary contests.

That's quite ironic, because the Republicans will be asking the American people the same question - is it OK if we don't pay you the Social Security we owe you, because we need $1 TRILLION every decade to fight our little wars.

"The reality is..." all Rudy has to do is make up a lie about this, sell it as "reality" as he does with every other issue. The reality is he will spin anything in his favor to get ahaead in this race, including the deaths of over 3,000 of his fellow New Yorkers. "The reality is", he is a disgusting man and does not deserve the respect Americans place at his feet. He belongs in prison with his buddy Bernie Kerik.

Rudy Giuliani is a sleaze. I wish more people would pay attention and stop thinking he will be the one to 'save us.' All he is good for is probably hosting a conservative radio talk show.

Maybe thats how he plans to make up for the taxes he plans to slash even more. Ask Federal Employees to work free. Just a thought.........

Guiliani's tendency towards secrecy is a very disturbing foreshadowing of behaviour as President. I wouldn't trust this man at all!

    Rudy's response:

    "Remember 9/11."
Yes, remember that if he'd put his disaster headquarters in a reasonable place, you would NEVER have seen hide nor hair of him on the streets, rescue would have been better organized, communications more effective, more lives saved, more information gathered. Remember that over 300 heroes died that day because they didn't get the message to evacuate on the broke radios that Rudy failed to address and were STILL not working after 9 years (since 93 attacks on WTC when they found out firefighter radios didn't work in the towers). Remember that he KNEW bldg 7 was coming down, said so on camera and now denies it at every single turn. remember

He can blow his wad in FLorida if he wants, but I'll never vote for him. He and politicians like him are the problem, not part of the solution.

"McCain – is about out of cash.
    Huckabee – never had any.
Romney – is spending his own money.
Guiliani – is getting tight too.
Ron Paul – raised almost $20 million in the 4th quarter and broke records in the process."

True, but we can't stop now, he needs another 23 million to get to the other end, so don't forget to donate and don't forget that we are doing a $10.00 or better per person funding drive on January 21st...BE THERE. GIVE AS GENEROUSLY AS YOU CAN. and in between drives too y'all...are we out here or NOT? 😉

Hope this is the end of dear Rudy, he shall go down for the attacks against Dr.Ron Paul. Useless, and pointless. Rudy needs to educate himself on many issues. I am voting with my brains, so their is only one choice, Dr. Ron Paul.

I hate see him go, The montages of him saying 9/11 have always been a bright spot on the web. I wonder if this policy of not paying people that work hard for you will continue if he were to become president? Oh wait. Ron Paul would do it, he has returned his paycheck since his inauguration for Congress. RP isn't even the multi millionaire that Rufy Tootie is, but he put 300 kids up in Iowa on his own ticket. Good stuff, too bad candidates are allowed to spend their own money on elections...Bet that would shrink the pool down.

For people who are supposed to Republicam or Conserviative, you all sure do talk a lot of junk about you Presidential Candidates.

Why does Obama have to equal wildcard, unknown and cocaine? That is just very nasty to say about someone but I guess that's the game of politics. That's there will not be a Republican President in the White House come January 2009!

Is Rudy not going to pay his country club dues in January?

Is a potential future president going to ask Americans to go without paying their bills?

That suit doesn't look like it came from Stein-Mart.

Perhaps we can chip in and buy him a subway token. OOOps. Wait ! Rudy only goes in limos and aircraft. Hmmmm. Just another example of some people who can't be bothered with the rabble in order to maintain their lifestyle.

Rudy: Am I wrong? Am I?

    (No!)

Well, let's see you take the subway until those people who work for YOU YOU YOU can have a life, too.

Really Rudy, is this setting a good example? Maybe you can sell North Dakota as president to Iran to raise cash for some really swingin' NYC style parties for your wealthy friends. I understand that the Iranians need a new site to build a reactor.

This is where we get the phrase "Dropping out of the election!"

Just retreat to your estate and blame us.

How any skirts does Rudy wear in a given year,... quite a few. Look online under Rudy Guilanni Drag, he loves to dress up like a woman and show off. GROSS! He makes one ugly woman-even if its not real.

This is why democrats should not vote. We cannot get through a primary now without democrats crying over the results.

What a self-centered scoundrel. The guy is a multi-millionaire, but he expects his staff to work their tails off without pay for HIM so HE can be the benificiary by winning the Florida primary. I sure hope Florida Republicans will see through this phony and give him the defeat he so richly deserves! I'd vote for Donald Duck before Giuliani.
