Clinton puts Magic Johnson front and center

"We won our first game on a last-second shot," the former Los Angeles Lakers point guard says in the ad. "I was so hyped. But the captain of my team said, 'Take it easy rookie, it's a long season, it's a long road to the championship.' He was right."
(According to NBA.com, that sage veteran mentioned in the ad who offers advice to a young Johnson is none other than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who happens to be publicly supporting Obama.)
"Whether it's winning championships or a president who can lead us back to greatness, I'll always want the most prepared and experienced person leading my team," Johnson also says. "That's why I'm asking you to join me in voting for Hillary Clinton for President.
The basketball great fails to point out the Lakers won the NBA championship his rookie season and he was named Finals MVP.
Johnson endorsed Clinton earlier in the year and campaigned at her side in the days leading up to the Iowa caucuses. He has also been campaigning with Bill Clinton in Nevada this week, and taking subtle digs at the Illinois senator.
"We need somebody who's not preaching hope," he said at one stop on Thursday. "We need somebody who understands that there's a problem, and they're preaching solutions."

Magic should stick to basketball, movie theaters and coffee houses.
Further, since I actually liked Bill and Hilary before they showed how politically cruel both of them are, I would like to suggest to them that unless black folks are as stupid as they think they are, Magic and Johnson stunts will backfire only and provide no credible gain in their campaign efforts.

Don't believe the hype. Obama was simple attributing the major change in America that Reagan represented while in office. That is undeniable. You only need to listen to the Republican candidates, McCain, Romney, Huckabee, Thompson and Giuliani. They invoke his name many times during debates. Who is the past Democratic president that Democratic candidates invoke the most? No Democratic candidate does except for Hillary Clinton. She uses Bill Clinton's name.
Democrats who support Hillary Clinton tend to look at Hillary's life and experience over the past 15 years only. There is a reason Hillary clouts she has 35 years of experience brininging change. She stops short of including her years as a Republica. Greg Jones of Cleveland, OH is correct. Hillary Rodham was a republican and stauch supporter of Barry Goldwater, a former presidential candidate who voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Not much is made of this historical fact!

Is having Magic Johnson's endoresement a benefit or a liability? I believe the latter. What does he bring to politics that would lead someone to be swayed by his endorsement besides basketball metaphors?
Honestly, this is just one more incident that shows the abject desperation of the Clinton campaign. It seems as if the Clinton campaign said, "Obama has Oprah. We need a black face too. Who's out there?" <– bad choice.

Magic Johnson is not a basketball player. He retired from basketball back in the 90's. Now he's a very successful businessman who made a very smart decision when he decided to invest money in businesses located in inner-cities after the riots back in the 90's.
Of course his pitch on stage is leaning on his basketball fame, and it's completely irrelevant. I hate celebrity endorsements regardless of the political position.

Obama has more experience as an elected official? I think it's a bit disingenuous to group together Obama's experience as a state illinois senator together with Hillary's experience as a New York Congressional senator and say that they are comparable. For one, you are allowed to duck out of voting on tough issues in the Illinois state senate and vote "present" as opposed to Yes or No, a luxury not afforded congressional senators that Obama took advantage of over 150 times as a state senator. It's quite easy to attack someone's voting record when you are not accountable to establish one for yourself. So, please, Hillary is the only Dem. candidate with the proper experience to rightfully change the mess created by 8 years of Bush.
And in regards to using celebreties to pander to different voting demographics, it's part of politics that every candidate employs so I think it is real hypocritical for all the Obama supporters in here to single out Hillary as if Barack, along with every other candidate running for President, isn't doing it themselves.

Magic Johnson may have done a lot for HIV/AIDs awareness, but I believe a lot of HIV sufferers resent Magic. It is painfully onvious that because of his vast wealth, he has been able to prolong his life YEARS past the typical survival rate of HIV infected people. The average Joe cannot afford the special treatment that Magic has undergone. Face it people, if Magic wasn't rich he would have passed away a decade ago!
I guess it is typical of Hitlary to pander to the African American voters with someone like Magic.

Bottom line is Obama is a man who will and can unite this country. Remember “United we stand divided we fall”. Hillary has proven that she can divide people. A lot of people question if Obama could unite and lead America. LOOK at the votes. Who would have ever thought it would take Bill and Hillary to go after him. It’s my opinion that the Hillary camp started the “RACE” deal. I don’t think her camp is considering our children. If you look around you, the “face” of America is changing. We see more and more bi-racial children. Did she ever stop to think of the impact this makes on the children and young adults that are watching CNN?
I was on the fence about who to vote for earlier on however, the very answer that she tore apart was the answer that made up mind. She criticized Obama for thinking about issues without quick responses or answers. I think a smart leader will have experts around them with diverse backgrounds (educational) to assist in the decision making process. Who want “another” president who thinks they know it all and make rash decisions”? Isn’t that how we rushed to war? We can’t have change with the same players!! I don’t really care who endorse who and what race a person is, I want someone who will think about the “little people”.
