Clinton loans herself $5 million
NEW YORK (CNN) — Democrat Hillary Clinton loaned her presidential campaign $5 million in January, the New York senator said Wednesday.
"I loaned the campaign $5 million dollars from my money," she said at a press conference at her Arlington, Virginia headquarters. "I loaned it because I believe in this campaign and I think the results last night proved the wisdom of my investment."
Earlier Wednesday, Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson confirmed reports Clinton had lent her campaign money in January, and said "The loan illustrates Sen. Clinton's commitment to this effort and to ensuring that our campaign has the resources it needs to compete and win across this nation."

That money would have been better spent trying to help the Katrina victims get a new home. I still see people sleeping in tents under the Interstate. We are suppose to be the richest state in the world and its sad to see that people don't have a roof over their heads. I think all campaign financing should come from the American people so that they can have invested into the campaign they believe will lead them in the future. A lot of the special interest groups would start going out of business that way. Hillary STILL takes all this money from special interest groups since she takes lobbyist and corporation money yet she can't catch up to Obama who doesn't take any money from lobbyiest and special interest groups.. That shows the strength of the American people.

Obama claims that Sen. Clintons supporters will vote for him but that his supporters are so closed-minded that they would vote for a Republican instead of Sen. Clinton.
What does that tell you about his campaign?

hey....Bush is trying to put together a $150 billion economic stimulus package...
wouldnt it be money better spent to give that money to the dems so they can get a (very necessary and helpful) early start on bailing americans out of this disaster ..
we're obviously not going to recover any money from the oil co's or tax revenue from the wealthy, until well after a Dem is elected....

Wow Clinton... how did you manage to bank $5 million after your "lifetime" of public service experience? I didn't know the Children's Defense Fund paid so much. Oh wait, 10 of your "35 years" was "experience" as a partner for a private law firm. For shame.
uh, if you've had "one of [your] best fundraising efforts ever...," then why would you need to loan 5 million to your own campaign?

Forced to lend herself $ 5 million dollars . The loan illustrates that she has exhausted her supports and has no propects of new ones .
She'll probably 'repay' the loan by jacking up the rent that she charges the federal government to house secret service agents in a separate dwelling on her property (which in the past has reportedly been equal to the mortgage on her entire home property). She made $100,000 on cattle futures from a $1000 investment– I'm sure she'll do just as well on this loan, probably courtesy of US Taxpayer.

It's obvious she feels threatened by Obama. The fact that Obama raised twice as much as Hillary shows his strong support. Seems people don't feel so strong about Hillary Clinton.
Hillary needs support from her wallet and from her husband. Obama HAS support from the people!!

This race will go on, and every week from now on Obama will continue to rise... very historic and very uplifting. We deserve to feel good about something.
Hillary is able to get the diversity of the nation to vote. She doesn't see the country only in black and white. She is the only one experienced enough, determined enough, and smart enough to become president. She doesn't go half way on the issues she goes all the way. Health care for ALL!

But... being a small business woman, all I can do is send her $10 every time I make a sale.
