Clinton loans herself $5 million

NEW YORK (CNN) — Democrat Hillary Clinton loaned her presidential campaign $5 million in January, the New York senator said Wednesday.

"I loaned the campaign $5 million dollars from my money," she said at a press conference at her Arlington, Virginia headquarters. "I loaned it because I believe in this campaign and I think the results last night proved the wisdom of my investment."

Earlier Wednesday, Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson confirmed reports Clinton had lent her campaign money in January, and said "The loan illustrates Sen. Clinton's commitment to this effort and to ensuring that our campaign has the resources it needs to compete and win across this nation."

Please everyone leave this alone! Just go donate to Obama. This is a ploy for the sympathy vote from women. The more the media and the public talks about this the more it helps her get votes by using sympathy instead of issues. This is a planned ploy. DO NOT FEED THE MADNESS! It will only hurt Obama unfairly in the end.

Clinton loaned her own 5 million to her campaign, expecting to be paid back by the donation money. If she cannot raise that much money, she will be in a hole. Who will donate to her, knowing it will go into her pocket? She is rich and can have 5 million. She does not need our nick and dime. I am not wealthy. A first time donor in a political campaign, I will continue to donate to Obama $25, $50, whatever I can.

Go Obama. You will be our next president.

I am a woman and frankly disappointed about how every praise for Hillary comes from a woman.

This explains why she has started asking for more debates. They are free air time. Obama would be crazy to do any more debates since Hillary is now cash strapped.

Let her apply her thirty five years of experience, and do it the Arkansas, and Huckabee way. Drive around, and Iron her own Pants Suits. Also, tears are great for garnering free TV coverage.

Pace yourself Hillary. It is a long campaign still, and if you shed too many tears too soon, you will run out of nose hairs to pull.

Don't over look the fact that Hillary is promising to restore fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets in Washington.

Since she keeps telling us to judge her on her experience. OK. How does the way she has squandered the huge campaign war chest she had accumulated, and her borrow and spend approach now look to those who want to judge her on how fiscally prudent she would be as President!

Super Tuesday proves Hillary is not competitive across America, so how can she say her loan "proves the wisdom of my (her) investment". Looks like a rather poor investment to me. Just shows you how little she knows about economics. Hillary, go back to cattle futures.....with a little insider help, of course!!!!.

If anyone has seen Obama speech last night ...he started out with saying..that lots of struggle ahead since we are new and we are going to face problems...and going to make lots of mistakes.....and might be unsuccessful lot of times....and there will be lot of learning curve....

the way our country is going on.....I wonder do we need anyone new who is going to make mistakes and disappointments....
    I rather have someone experience.....
our country is not in position to go through any experiment at this time...
i am sure in 4 or 8 years he will be more mature.

Hillary didn't allow this information to go public for nothing – she's going for the sympathy vote and trying to make herself look like the underdog

I guess it's time to open up our pocketbooks and contribute to Hillary. Please only if you can afford it. Don't emulate the Obama fanatics who send money even when they can't afford it (I know a couple). Obama has no credentials , no real plans, and takes a lot more influence money than he pretends. He is not qualified at this time to be president.

It won't be easy for Obama to beat McCain. For sure we will see one more republican administration.

If a 3 million dollar loan illustrates Hillary's commitment, then WOW, Mitt Romney's 35 million dollar loan means we should just let him have it!

Hillary and Mitt, two flip-floppers in a pod...

Some of yall seem to be a bit delusional. She can loan her campaign the money because she knows that she'll get it back. She wanted $3 million in 3 days. She'll get that and then some. Don't let this fool ya. There are plenty of folks sending Hillary donations.

She is overwhelmingly winning the white female vote and Hispanics. And once the pictures start popping up of Jesse Jackson holding his Obama sign, any support Obama was getting from white males will evaporate. They will either vote for Hillary or not vote.

To all of you Hillary bashers here – especially all of you who think it is so wonderful that Barak Obama has so much more money given to him. Think of this: Just how much more has he got to pay back if he wins? And to whom??? Special interests is my guess. Senator Clinton had my vote last Tuesday – where she won by a very large number over Obama – and she has my vote in November. All you people need to stop the irrational hate of the Clintons. You are all very tiny people.

5 million dollars. do you know how many homeless people that would take care of. how dare they go up there and talk about the homeless, the poor children and then go and waste that kind of money. how about some good words about fema, the national guard, etc. for being so efficient in taking care of storm victims in the south. how about a good word for president bush for taking care of business so quickly. i hope i hear some kind words about this. you know if they didn't act quickly we would hear all about it. over and over again.

Does anyone know a website and a television program where Clinton is not bashed unrelentlessly? (I know, naive, that place probably doesn't exist, does it?)

Hillary is a typical Democratic limousine liberal. Five million of "my money". None of the jobs on her resume would net her that kind of cash. That money came from Bill, and he got it from some sleazy source. Guess who gets to pay for it in the end if she is elected?

It seems she spent way too much money on advertising. If you overspend in one arena, you have to cut back in another. Maybe a little common sense would have helped when making the campaign budget. Ever heard the term "don't put all your eggs in one basket"? Her basket seems to have been Super Tuesday.

not only is she in trouble...this is kind of disgusting. how can she be a spokesperson for equality and then try to flat-out buy an election? there's a limit to the elite trying to simply buy more power...Clinton can spin this however she wants, but this is no different than Romney: it's disgusting.

Wow! I think this is the beginning of the end for Hillary. You have to be pretty desperate to loan yourself millions of dollars to sustain your campain. What message does this send about her being fiscally responsible?
