Site named for Bush's presidential library

(CNN) - Following a years-long campaign that began before President Bush even took his first oath of office, Southern Methodist University – the alma mater of First Lady Laura Bush - has been chosen as the future home of George W. Bush’s presidential library and policy center.

“I look forward to the day when both the general public and scholars come and explore the important and challenging issues our Nation has faced during my presidency — from economic and homeland security to fighting terrorism and promoting freedom and democracy,” President Bush wrote in a Friday letter to the university’s president, Gerald Turner.

The university had been hammering out the final details of the agreement for more than year. The facility will be located at a site near downtown Dallas.

    ROTFLMAF !!!

By his own admission, he does not read........ ironic, huh ? Perhaps a manure factory would be more appropriate, as he is an expert in that area.

It's an oxymoron to have the words "GW" and "library" in the same sentence, much less in a title of an actual place.

Maybe a picture-book with the before and after effects of unilateralism should be sufficient enough in a corner of the current library on the campus. Don't forget the spy cameras and listening devices nearby for protection....

I fail to see the need for all these Presidential LIbaries. 90% of the presidents haven't been that important. Jefferson's home near the University of Virginia is a library of his achievements and is justified.

A Lincoln Library, one of each of the Roosevelts, Eisenhower because of both being President of the USA and Commander of Allied Forces in WW-II plus, Truman and Lyndon Johnson can be justified by their lives and times.

Since then the rest are mediocrities and just shouldn't be built. Anything they want should be built with totally private funds. I don't want one red cent of my tax money spent on men who may or may not have ever read a book. Of course being in Texas perhaps Comic Books would be most appropriate reading material.

I would resolve the illegal alien problem by first sending the whole Bush family to Texas, move the illegal aliens there and then giving the whole thing back to Mexico as reparations for the Mexican War of the 1840's.

What can he possibly put in a library
Most of what he did was SCREW UPS (which we want to forget)
    The remainder was either...
    Censored, sealed, erased, lost, destroyed

So...what can he use...letters from the wife
    Notes from the dog
    Jokes about his administration

Bush will be a sad and bad footnote in history

Thank God he chose one of those bigoted, narrow-minded, fundamentalist institutions for his library. It will fit right in with all of the rest of the lies fundamentalists tell.

Shouldn't Bush put his library in his new Eastern home – Bagdad?

You poor souls. Don't you have anything better to do than hurl invective at President Bush. I imagine all of you watching the President on television, your face red, spittle dribbling off your chins, yellling at an electronic device. Why don't you stick with historical revisionism regarding that great stateswoman, Hillary Clinton!

Sorry Dallas ... guess you're stuck with it! Will the largest wing of the facility be reserved for his bloops and blunders? Wouldn't an out house with a magazine rack in Crawford suffice?

Maybe they chose Laura's alma matter, so she will feel more comfortable reading the books to him. Last time George was caught with his guard down in public reading books (albeit about goats), Al-Qaeda struck on 9/11... "Won't get fooled again!"

They should make it a jail and put him and all of his failures on display so the next generations of Americans can see what an awful legacy he left behind!

I can't blame SMU for agreeing to provide a location for a Presidential LIbrary. However, I just wish it would have been for a President that will be looked upon more favorably by history.

    (1) Laura bush went to college?

    (2) Maybe they can get some of the 400,000 discarded frozen embryos for display, you know, the ones that he vetoed for use in stem-cell research, BUT THAT ARE GOING TO GET DISCARDED ANYWAYS.

Will there be a statue of a "Lame Duck" at the entrance of the library?
This would represent Bush's inablity to run the country since he has
    been in office.

The day it opens will probably be the only visit he makes to a library in his lifetime.

Perhaps he may have actually been "smart-i-fied", or, "smart-i-ficated" !!!

(I am 'so' gonna miss this guy when he's gone......)

The best exhibit this library could display would be a photo of hundreds of frustrated Americans counting chads. Looking back, they were right. They counted every chad, hoping for the best, but Bush prevailed.

I remember how he and his henchmen (Karl Rowe, Dick Chaney), ran to DC and started making plans for his stupid presidency. He and they were a joke.

I think the Supreme Court justices who voted for Bush owes the American people an apology.

More than 400 historians are counting the days until his administration is OVER, so they can vote him "The Worst President In History". Personally, I can't wait.

"Hey Mr. President, if you and Laura need help packing, give me a call".

I don't care how many African countries you visit, your legacy will be one of selfishness, and greed.

Hold on America, our national nightmare is almost over.
