Clinton suggests she may release tax returns

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/02/26/art.clinton1.ap.jpg caption=" Clinton indicated she may release her tax returns before the end of the primary season."](CNN) - Hillary Clinton suggested Tuesday she may release her tax returns before the Democratic primary race is over, a seeming reversal over her long-standing position that she would not release the documents unless she is the party's nominee.

"I will do it as others have done it upon becoming the nominee or even earlier," Clinton said at Tuesday's debate.

Pressed if she would do it before the March 4 primaries, Clinton said she didn't have the time to get them together, but said, "I will certainly work toward releasing them, and we will get that done and in the public domain."

Obama released his tax returns late last year, and suggested Clinton do the same. He stepped up his criticism of the New York senator for not doing so earlier this month when it was revealed she loaned her campaign $5 million.

"I think the American people deserve to know where you get your income from," Obama said then.

She says she will fight for the people. But all those oney that her husband gets and what her camgpain gets from lobbyist would show diffrent.

Molly, According to President Clinton's 2006 disclosure, each speaking engagement is listed and he made between $150K-$250K per event.... So between their two books and President Clinton's speaking engagements, they have made quite a bit of money.

Just like Obama was given a 1.2M advance on his book. And even if Obama isn't the nominee, he'll make millions telling everyone about the campaign experience that we all paid for!

It amazes me how the American people can think of such petty issues to argue over especially when serious issues like health care and the economy is in need of such drastic changes. I want to hear true debate issues.Yes Obama speaks change but he does not convey through his speeches of how he will bring about change. I hear alot of talking around the issues but no direct answering of those questions.

It wasn't that important until she loaned herself money. There are campaign finance laws for a reason. An individual is not allowed to give more than $2,300 to a campaign, so where this $5 million came from is suddenly very important. The fact that she does not want to tell us is rather scary.

Just another example of how, with so many important issues out there, the moderators were more involved with insignificant minutia that politics.

Actually, all employers, investment companies, mortgage providers, etc. would have sent all the end-of-year tax forms to her no later than Jan 31, 08.(it's the law).
Why is it taking her long to file? Her accountant can get it done in one (1) day.

It's not that I care about her tax returns, I just don't appreciate people thinking we are stupid, or easy to manipulate.

Yeah, she is so done. Can't take anything for granted, but I think Obama has this. Her true colors came through in the end. Now, hopefully he will easily take McCain as he has the Clintons.

Wow, it's funny how she decides to finally release her tax returns now, after months and months of refusal. It's almost as if she's willing to say or do anything to win.

Wow!!!!!! Hold the press. Ain't we lucky. We would much appreciate it, if she would just go home and take Bill. We have had her kind of politics for half a century and we, our economy and our spirit in general have had it.

In tonight's debate Hillary Clinton keep saying, "I'm a fighter" and I think that's the whole point. It takes diplomacy not fighting to get cooperation and get things done and that has been Barack O'Bama's strength and will continue to be. He's got the edge on her!

nooooooooooo way....how about some furniture in WH she took home?I've seen a video of her talking to the executives in silicone valley, saying she wants to remove the cap on H1-B visas. Then she comes to Cleveland and says she wants to stop jobs from going over seas. How can you do both?

Obama has a lot to hide. Where are his tax records? We were going to Obama, thank goodness we say this debate because we are now for Hillary. She debates about real issues. Did anyone notice how Obama had almost no knowledge on foreign affairs......She has a lot.
Way to go Hillary!! Hillary Clinton, Comander and Chief..sounds great!

Like Senator Clinton has said, " Action speaks louder than words" at Austin ... she has a lot to prove... especially, about her tax return. Being perspective and observant, watching both Senator Obama and Clinton... I had to "pretend" that they are speaking to me directly, because I could decide better who to vote for because of how they treat each and every one of us. and how they treat toward each other in a debate is how they will treat the rest of our country. Therefore, Action do, indeed, speak louder than words!

Open your eyes Barack Obama supporters – read what the UK
papers are saying about Obama's campaign contributions from
    Renko in Chicago.
Why are the news agencies not persuring this? This a huge story!
He danced all around the Farrakan question – just say NO
I don't want your support, its that easy.
He has not one original word that has not been borrowed from someone else.

Obama is a loser and so is the Democratic party. McCain will be the next president of the USA because the media has created an Obama myth that is not credible! 🙂 Many Dems including me will vote for McCain before voting for the Obama scam.

Hillary does not want to talk about that 10 million the Saudi's gave her. That was the only way she could loan her campaign that money. Hillary owes everybody, the Clinton's are broke, busted, and disgusted. It's time to call it quites.

    Go Obama!!!

To night Hillary really shined. She was focused like a laser beam on every issue.
Hillary is strong ready to stand and fight for whats right!!
I see her like a Joan Arc...! I also thought Obama did well. He will be a good V.P

Billary was evasive on releasing her tax returns–which are important because that would show where a lot of their millions are coming from–and in cagey fashion (appropos for her) she would release them soon, because she's so busy now running for president. Well, she wasn't so busy back in November, when she was declaring herself to be the presumptive nominee. We'll never see those returns, just as we'll never see the White House papers that tell all about her eight years of vast experience as first lady. When "Saturday Night Live" spoofs her this weekend, she'll just turn the focus around to how SNL is now part of the media bias. She's history....
