Clinton camps highlights Obama's chairmanship

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/02/26/art.debate2.ap.jpg caption=" Clinton raised Obama's subcommittee chairmanship at Tuesday's debate."] WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign Wednesday pounced on Sen. Barack Obama's acknowledgment that he has yet to hold a substantive hearing since becoming chairman of a Senate subcommittee on Europe.

The admission during Tuesday night's Democratic debate offered a "glimpse of the real Barack Obama," and was emblematic of the Illinois senator's light record of results, the Clinton camp said in an e-mail.

Obama "did not hold a single oversight hearing because he was too busy running for president; the Barack Obama who spends his time talking about change you can believe in instead of change you actually can count on," the e-mail stated.

Clinton herself raised the issue at the debate in Cleveland.

'"He chairs the subcommittee on Europe. It has jurisdiction over NATO. NATO is critical to our mission in Afghanistan," she said. "He's held not one substantive hearing to do oversight, to figure out what we can do to actually have a stronger presence with NATO in Afghanistan."

In response, Obama noted he has only served as the committee's chairman since January of 2007, just when his presidential campaign was beginning - a fact the Clinton campaign's memo also highlighted.

"But by his own admission, he was too busy running for president to conduct a single substantive hearing of the committee he chairs," the memo stated. "So he would rather talk about what he would do rather than do it through the responsibility he had.”

For the record, Obama has held two hearings on ambassadorial nominations, but no oversight hearings.

Hooray CNN !!!!! You are finally showing the other side of Obama.
His lack of responsibility to fulfill his commitments.
Perhaps, if the news media would have treated both of the Democratic candidates equally and fairly, Obama wouldn't have won so many states and the voters would have had the true picture of Obama. Let's hope the voters of the remaining states see the true Obama and vote for the more experienced candate – Hillary Clinton.

  2. Hillary did you check what you said?

When Hillary was asked about revealing her taxes/income/reports on herself, what did she say. Hello?

Hillary said, can't you see, I am TOO BUSY in a Presidential campaign.

Hillary, every time you try to discredit your opponent, the American people find out that all you were doing is trying to play gotcha. You are not presidential Hillary.

Another example, if you don't mind. Why did you say, if you become Senator of NY you will create hundreds of thousand of jobs WHEN YOU CAN'T? You LOST over 30,000 jobs. So how can you be ready Day 1.

Oh, and her answer as to why she didn't gain but rather lost jobs for the state was......oh, I thought Gore was going to be President.

IS THIS THE TYPE OF ANSWER HILLARY WILL GIVE AMERICA WHEN SHE DOESN'T GET THINGS DONE DAY 1?

    I Denounce and reject Hillary!!!

    Vote OBAMA '08

It's funny; every time Hillary starts a sentence with "You know...," she launches into some long, scripted diatribe that just flips the off-switch on any thinking person's ears. If she just tried being genuine and unscripted, just once, she might actually win a state that's left in this contest. Then again, it's probably way too late to undo the damage she's done to herself.

This woman is losing this race, regardless of whether she wins Texas and Ohio. This is simple common sense and math.

Why are Hillary supporters and Hillary blaming just about everyone out there but her campaign managers and herself:

    It's the media against Hillary
It's the Clinton haters against Hillary
It's the lovers of Monica Lewinsky against Hillary
It's the problem of being given the FISRT question each time.
It's becuase Obama copies Hillary's answers
It's because of that period of the month
It's because of not "meeting me in Ohio earlier for the debate."
It's because of not finding time to file my taxes

    When is this ever going to stop? I care less about the positions of these candidates. I am interested in leadership that;

will restore the values and image of the U.S. to teh world
will make me feel proud at home and abroad
will give me real HOPE about the challenges that lie ahead
will BRING people together to solve real problems!!!

    Oh my God!

Can it be? Has CNN actually posted something honest, without spinning blame to the Clinton camp, that possibly highlights the "Chosen One"s weaknesses? It must be! Look, he'll walk on water next!

Hillary 2008: because let's face it, we want someone who'll talk, act, fix, solve, mediate, and demolish our problems.

Here in Houston we vote smart.

In the mean time, the whole time Hillary's been senator of New York, she hasn't done a thing for us New Yorkers. She's been gearing up for her campaign since she took office. Too busy to be a Senator.

Is this the same HILLARY who is TOO BUSY w/her campaign to RELEASE HER TAX RETURNS AND FIRST LADY DOCUMENTS? This is the reason Hillary could never prevail – her heart is COLD!

HILLARY IS SELFISH – This was the SAME person who THREATENED to pull out of last night's debate because of the 'pimping her daughter' remark. How quick she forgets!

  16. Hillary all the way

I CAN'T BELIEVE OBAMA HAS A POSITION ON A COMMITTEE TO HOLD MEETINGS AND TALK ABOUT NATO AND AFGANISTAN SINCE JANUARY 2007 AND HE SAYS HE'S BEEN TO BUSY TO HOLD ANY MEETING BECAUSE HE'S BEEN CAMPAINGING. IF HE CAN'T TAKE CARE OF HIS PRESENT DUTIES HOW CAN HE TAKE CARE OF OUR COUNTRY!!! THE MEDIA IS ALL ONE SIDED, HOW ABOUT REPORTING ON OBAMA LIKE YOU DO HILLARY. VOTERS DON'T LET THE MEDIA'S ONE SIDED REPORTED CHANGE YOUR VOTE WE NEED HILLARY TO GET US BACK ON TRACK. WE DO NEED CHANGE AND HILLARY'S THE ONE WHO CAN MAKE THIS CHANGE!!!

And his oversight committee represents the U.S. as "Part Of" the NATO orginization, not over NATO. Another play on words. Next she'll put out flyers to the African American community, that Obama rejected help from one their leaders (Farrakhan) too try and change the black vote, after she insisted he say reject vs denounce, then, she'll turn around and say to the Jewish community that he's a anti-semite, because he refused to reject the indorsement. Devisive? I would say so. But, that's her Politics I guess.

Wow... not a single Obama supporter responds. Perhaps that's because she's commenting on policy in Afghanistan while hammering him for being the chairman of the European sub-committee. Do you even know where Afghanistan is? Answer: Middle East. Chairmen of the Middle East subcommittee: Senator Biden and Senator Kerry.

    Report the truth CNN.

Wow, all the Hillary wignuts are out in full force tonight. They must have left work early so that they could populate the message boards at CNN.

Perhaps an oversight meeting wasn't really necessary. Of course, Hillary would have had three, just for show. I wonder how much work Hillary's been able to accomplish lately since she's been pre-occupied with running a smear campaign against Obama.

She's barely done anything in NY as senator, but took the position in preparation for a presidential run. She should focus on getting her tax returns ready for public release.

Obama has already stated that he has been running for President during this time period, as was Hillary. Barack has been doing it successfully. How many people heard of Barack last year when Hillary was the media sweetheart and the clear front runner? Today one of her superdelegates switched to Obama. Obama is picking up endorsements while Hillary complains about getting the questions first. I guess you all forgot about Texas where Obama went first. What is that I am hearing? Stand by folks. The fat lady is warming up.

In todays fast paced world of multi-tasking and technological advancements (tele-conferencing), the word-man could not "hold a single oversight hearing because he was too busy running for president."

If he cannot walk and chew gum at the same time, how can he possibly walk on water!

"Obama noted he has only served as the committee's chairman since January of 2007" (Math January 2007 to February 2008 = 14 months o nonaction).

    Word up
