DALLAS, Texas (CNN) – Mike Huckabee struck an optimistic note as he visited voters at a Dallas polling station Tuesday morning, but said no matter what the results are, he will spend Wednesday at home in Little Rock, Arkansas pondering his next move.
“After tonight, regardless of the outcome, whether we win or if we don't, we've got to sit down tomorrow, and tomorrow's going to be a day of sort of looking at the landscape and seeing what's ahead and where do we go from here,” Huckabee told reporters.
The former Arkansas governor has staked his future in this race on Texas, spending far more time here than in Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont which are also voting Tuesday. He argues that Texas conservatives have an “independent streak” that he believes will cause them to buck the national trend and rally around him because of the issues that differentiate him from Republican presidential rival John McCain.
Polls indicate otherwise, giving McCain a significant lead not only in Texas but in all March 4 states, and has accumulated nearly enough delegates to officially clinch the GOP nomination. Nevertheless, Huckabee remains hopeful.
"We think it’s going to be a good day for us in Texas, we’re very encouraged by the activity we’ve had the last few days,” said Huckabee. “We’re going to remain very optimistic that this could be a big day and win Texas."
Huckabee has often questioned whether McCain can energize the base of the party, and Tuesday warned that if McCain is the nominee that will be one of his toughest tasks.
“If John McCain is the nominee, I think Republicans will support him,” Huckabee told CNN. “Will they line up and do what they have historically done that causes us to win rather than lose elections, which is the knocking on the doors and making the phone calls? That's going to be the challenge he'll have. He'll have to reach out and make those voters believe that he cares and will champion their issues, otherwise it'll be a tough sell.”

Huckabee. staty in!! I know you will win texas today!
The Primary is about each individual candidate – the vote in November is about the party. Huckabee has not hurt a thing – if anything, he has made the party stronger and helped informed the younger generation just what the base of the Republican party is founded on.
I vote today in Texas along with hundreds of my personal friends and family – all for HUCKABEE. I personally will not vote for liberal McCain in November either. He has left the base of the party behind. As I tell my children – you get what you give and way to many times has McCain stabbed many a tried and true Republican in the back. No THANKS!
That's me next to Janet Huckabee's right! Hiding my face with the Huckabee sign! HucksArmy!

4 total disasters, and one is going to step into the batter's box next year... Look for a New Orleans (Pre-Katrina) level of Total Apathy, Government dependence, and loser-dom to spread across America, and the weight of the remaining Population of Mexico to crawl onto the already over burdened American Taxpayer.
Obama and Hillary are devout Stalinist-Marxists...who want a whole country dependant on the Gov't, to tell them what to eat, drink, where to lay their head and what music, movies they can enjoy. That way the rich elitist will remove the power from the people, and ensuring total control for themselves..by making the people chained to the gov't for Life support.
McCain and Schmuckabee...act like they are on the dole of the Mexican Gov't (Their interest over American Workers and Taxpayers). Neither care about Americans...only throw out crumbs of false phrases, in hopes that ignorant people who can't see that Juan Hernandez is leading one of them by the nose, will believe in them.
Where is my comment ?????
Huckabee needs to stop running for vp and get out there and attack McCain. Call him a liberal, attack his age, discuss how he might or might not have made googly eyes at an attractive lobbyist, say he is stinky. DO SOMETHING. He is going to win unless you smear him hard and long until the national convention.
Obama/Inuit 2008
Everything I mentioned on a previous blog.... Happened!!!
But it's ok to accuse Hillary, in the death of one child... Indirectly!!
But direct, Very direct situation happened....
Bias against Hillary as just been proved...........
Griff.....................
Is it going to be a squirrl dish in that planning dinner?
Total Idiot!!!! I am a democrat and I think he is
using this election to get a job elsewhere. He
is hoping for a miracle that someone "big will
see how good he is and how smart he is. He
is not good or smart. Hopefully he will get a job
in another country. (and bring Janet)
Obama 2008
What do you mean if he loses? Huckabee is toast. Without question everyone will support McCain, the alternative is not acceptable. Surrender now OBAMA or surrender later Hillary is the other choice.
So what's the problem. Huckabee just needs to stay home and work
for the party in November.
Huck might as well throw his support to Ron Paul and get on with the business of saving America!
Oh cry me a river. What a sore loser. Does he really think that he can win in Texas. McCain will have no problem uniting the party between now and November. He,(Huckabee) is the one creating the divisions. Do you really think that we will allow these left wing nuts to control the presidency. Not without a good fight. McCain on to Victory for the good of the Country.
Wow... awful lotta Ron Paul signs in that picture.

Huckabee, it's time for you to drop out.
You are hurting your party.
*** NOT Quite! It is McCain that is hurting the party! We need a true conservative! Not AMNESTY McCAIN!
There's no difference between any of them, they are all telling things that they think, in their wisdom, that people want to hear. We need some good statesmen but they are in short suppl. Wake up,America
I just don't understand, why is Huckabee still in a race? waiting for meracle to happen....may be only, if he does go to church everyday before he ran for the president.
Good luck Huckabee
What is there to plan? Even with Romney out of the race your not even to achieve a delegate count equal to his even after all this time. For all your talk of being a Conservative your out of touch with the majority of the Republican party.
I think there should be a law on the books stating that if a candidate CANNOT MATHEMATICALLY WIN they should be forced to drop out, it is a waste of resources in the political process, You don't see a sports team still playing after the whistle blows do you? The lack of common sense defies reality as do most of republican politics
I am an Obama supporter but I like Huckabee.
Vote Huckabee! The only candidate with character!
I'm leaving now and going to vote for Huckabee. Mike, don't listen to those that say quit. Seems like this nation is turning into a bunch of quitters. And I will vote my convictions, not what someone tells me the proper thing to do, like vote for Hillary as Rush says or vote for McCain because he is ahead and what is the use.
Texas PLEASE put the Huckaphony out of his misery once and for all today! There is no way he can win the nomination–he is hurting our party by hanging on like a delusional cry-baby.

If something were to happen to McCain before the convention, I think Romney can jump back in.
I would actually feel more comfortable with Romney than McCain. I simply think he's too old to change his spots and he scares me, calling for endless Wars.
Don't drop out, Governor Huckabee! The debate is good for Republicans and good for the country–we've seen how much media attention Obama and Clinton are both getting because they are both still in the race. Stay in it so you can keep speaking for the issues that are important to conservatives: securing the border and American sovereignty, the FairTax, traditional marriage and life. . .
