Obama adviser resigns over comment

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption=" Power has resigned her position with the campaign."](CNN) - Samantha Power has resigned her position from Barack Obama's campaign after calling Hillary Clinton a 'monster,' the Illinois senator's campaign announced.

“With deep regret, I am resigning from my role as an advisor the Obama campaign effective today," Power said in a statement issued by the campaign. "Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor, and purpose of the Obama campaign. And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months."

The Obama campaign said that the decision was Power’s, and stressed that “she was an adviser, not a paid staffer.”

"She made the decision to resign and we accepted," said communications director Robert Gibbs.

Earlier in the day, the Clinton campaign had called for Obama to end Power's association with his campaign.

For a primary you can't play any obvious cards

Gov. Rendall saying "White men won't vote for an African American man."
No one screamed and made him go on tour and apologized.
He did quietly apologize and life goes on...
I could not believe that Clinton Machine wanted this woman out of Obama's camp after Bill was permitted to stay several times with financial settlemens as well and their political life went on...
I have know doubt being calling a "Monster" is nothing in comparison of having an adulterous spouse publicly exposed. She can forgive this we know and should ask for the adviser to return to Obama's camp.
Both candidates and their teams along with Mr. Dean need to go to a prayer breakfast with Bishop Jakes and Pastor Dr. Schuller with no media involved.

Washington Post poll shows Clinton up on McCain by 6% (showing she can clearly beat McCain in the general election)

New Pennsylvania poll shows Clinton up by 15% on Obama, about a 7 point increase for Clinton

New North Carolina poll shows Obama up by 4-5% on Clinton, about a 10 point increase by Clinton

nice to see exactly what Obama supporters are really like. ugh.

I can only hope that on the sad chance Obama does end up getting elected, that he really is a lot better than his supporters are proving themselves to be, or it will be a very, very sad time for our country.

RESIGNED??? Are you kidding me? This woman should have been promoted and given a raise for calling out the Clinton monster like that. Hillary is the Beast. Can't you say it engraved on her forehead?

All hail King George. LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!

At least when Obama's people get out of line, there are consequences to pay, I can't say the same for Hillary's camp.

    Obama is a phony,

    Obama is showing desperate now.

Sad that people will never again remember her for winning a Pulitzer, but calling Hill a 'monster'.

But she was right to have left. Nasty name-calling should be left to the Republican party.

What? WE weren't all thinking that? I give her credit for having some guts. Has anyone ever been fired for all the things that senator Obama has been falsely accused of? They only thing that the Clintons say is "we never said that" yea right.

sorry she has to leave. Shouldn't the delegate count be reduced from 2025 needed for the nomination to 1872? Since the delegates in MI and FL don't count. I think this should be fair.

also A-Jad spoke with Iraq and was greeted with open arms! where is the outcry from Clinton and McCain on this. after all what are our service-people dying and fighting for? what were the preconditions for that meeting and should we the American people know this?

Sad to see her go. It was an unfortunate reminder that the momentum against changing old-style politics takes every diligence. Even when you speak the truth, it must be done kindly.

Democrats must not make the mistake of Handing Clinton the Ticket.
Doing so is equal to telling McCain welcome to white House and depoly more troops in Iraq.

You! Obama people, go back to school. You have so much to learn in real life. This is a big guys club. No inexperience people allowed!!
To call someone a monster based on your emotion, not the fact is unacceptable. I can't believe they let this kind of woman teach kids at Harvard. So disappointed. She should go teach at community college, instead of Harvard. So sick of Obama and his people. Sick of them!!! period.

Good riddance! She'll probably reappear on Obama's cabinet if he wins the election, where she'll pull another boner.

The truth is coming out about Obama and his camp. They've been negative behind the scenes for weeks and blaming Clinton for their dirty tricks.

Now that is honorable. I wonder when Senator Clinton will start holding her campaign staff to these same standards.

its a shame that someone has to lose her job just for telling the truth. If i was clinton, i would consider this a compliment, compared to what the majority of the country thinks of her. All the clintons think about is themselves and they would anything to win this election.

The term "monster" is on the nicer end of the spectrum of words that accurately describe Senator Clinton. Samantha Power should get a medal for finally saying it.

Seems to be ok for Clinton people to call names, not ok for Obama people. Clinton is a monster, republicans know that, Bill knows that, and the press knows that. Seems the old spin cycle is on again, lets talk issues and not play this silly game anymore.America depends on it.

I am sorry Samantha that you had to resign but Hillary Clinton indeed is a monster, both king and queen of monsters. Everything you said is 100% right and I hope you get a chance to read my comment. She went on about Nafter in Canada when she was behind it all, infact she is the devil's twin.

What's next for Samantha Powers? A political commentator at CNN, Fox and MSNBC? That's where Obama butt kissers go all the time, right?

I don't know why she resigned for speaking the truth. And he has been called and accused of much worst than Hillary. She is a monster and you have seen she will do anything to will, even sabotage the democratic chance of winning in November.
