Obama adviser resigns over comment

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption=" Power has resigned her position with the campaign."](CNN) - Samantha Power has resigned her position from Barack Obama's campaign after calling Hillary Clinton a 'monster,' the Illinois senator's campaign announced.

“With deep regret, I am resigning from my role as an advisor the Obama campaign effective today," Power said in a statement issued by the campaign. "Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor, and purpose of the Obama campaign. And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months."

The Obama campaign said that the decision was Power’s, and stressed that “she was an adviser, not a paid staffer.”

"She made the decision to resign and we accepted," said communications director Robert Gibbs.

Earlier in the day, the Clinton campaign had called for Obama to end Power's association with his campaign.

    Good for Obama...
and for the poster here, when something like this happens, it is generally called on the person getting released to resign so they leave with some dignity.. its just the etiquette... same thing happened with Clintons former campaign manager.

Really is Sad tho, she is a smart woman and said off the record comments that should never have been published... what she had to say however is dead on, Hillary has run a pathetic campaign... she said she wanted to focues on the issues, but that wasnt working for her... Barack won 11 straight, so she showed her true colors that she is hell bent on trying to win this nomination even at the expense of her own party and at the diminishing of her character.

Clinton supporters please wake up.. your candidate is a phony..
You dont think there are people in the clinton camp saying negative things about Obama, off the record, behind closed doors?
Its sad to see such an intelligent woman leave the Obama camp... but its the best thing for him i guess

She should resign if this is the kind of "top foreign affairs" advisor we can expect from an Obama candidacy. She sounded like shrill female cult groupie, not an expert in foreign affairs. We live in a dangerous world. If this is an example of Obama's judgement in picking advisors we should all have second thought. He has based his campaign on his "good judgement" in opposing the Iraq War in 2002 (even though he didn't have to vote since he was only an Illinois Senator then, not a US Senator) . What does this say about his good juedgement? What does having Rezko help him buy his house say about Obama's judgement? What does belonging to a Church that gave Louis Farrakhan, Nation of Islam leader, a Lifetime Achievement Award in December 2007 say about Obama's good judgement?

She should have been fired afterall it was Obama who said – "I do not want to see research that is involved in trying to tear people down personally. If I find out that somebody is doing that, they will be fired. And I have been absolutely crystal clear about this, and I have been clear about this for a very long time."

And she still hasn't apolagized to the people of Ohio.

Stop being so weak Obama. Clinton is a MONSTER and Bill is a lot of other things. She is what she is and that is a MONSTER. From now on I will call her that. To me you are letting the MONSTER run you like Chicken George. Do like MLK and stand up like a man and fight. You are causing me to wonder if you really do have the backbone for this.
Hillary is a MONSTER, MONSTER, MONSTER and a no good dirty one at that.

It is very sad that we, as a nation have been focusing on 'who said what’ in regard to the other candidate –in a personal connotation instead of focusing on the REAL issues facing our nation.

The economy is sliding into recession, jobs are leaving by the boatful, healthcare has totally been placed onto the shelf and foremost –national security has been all but been set aside!!!

While we have a current President who likes to 'Tap Dance' for reporters, seemingly ignorant to the real issues facing real Americans....

Lets focus on the specific issues and the plans that our candidates have in overcoming our very serious problems...

You know what America.. lets get together and get it together !

We have 2 very solid candidates that have the potential to steer this country back onto the right path toward economic reform.

Yet, this election has broken down to focus on petty comments made by one side or the other –instead of focusing on the REAL and serious issues facing our great nation.

It is simply astounding that we have all come to this point...

It just seems like Obama's whole campaign is starting to implode. What is going on and why is he not taking charge of his campaign? I am worried that they had a slight setback on tuesday and now they're falling apart.

It looks to me like Hillary's ENTIRE staff should be fired. While she's at it, she should have to explain, NAFTAGATE, PETER PAUL, BILL'S LIBRARY DONATIONS, HER WHITE HOUSE PAPERS, TAX RETURNS, etc. The list is too long to post.

OBAMA's whole campaign was based on NOT GOING NEGATIVE…. now that he is going negative his true colors are going to shine. He says that his politics are refreshing and not like the way Washington has always been… politics of destruction. What does he think that just because a staffer made these comments that it didn't come from him? I have watched him from day one! Also, he has ALWAYS COPIED other politicians speeches. Go read speeches John Kerry made when he was running for president. Then compare them to some of NOBAMA's interviews when he announced his canidency! I am a political news junkie so have seen TONS of news and interviews and have never seen someone copy others ideas more so than he has.

YOU ARE TO INEXPERIENCED to lead our country in a time of war! The Republicans are going to destroy this man if god forbid he ever made it to a general election.

WANT A WINNING TICKET that the Republicans won't be able to touch?
