Rendell pushes for joint ticket

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/03/07/art.rendell.gi.jpg caption=" Rendell is a supporter of Clinton."](CNN) - Hillary Clinton supporter and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell became the latest member of the New York senator's campaign Thursday to raise the prospect of a joint presidential ticket with Barack Obama, saying in an interview that whoever comes out on top in the presidential race should offer the vice presidency to the other.

"I think it’s important that it be offered, and if the loser doesn’t accept, I think the loser can say why," Rendell told the National Journal's Ron Brownstein. "You know, obviously, I’d love to see a Clinton/Obama ticket. But if Senator Obama won, I think his offering it to Senator Clinton would be a great gesture.

"I’m not sure she would take it, I’m not sure he would take it," Rendell also said. " But either way, I think that it would be good if the offer were made."

Rendell's comments follow those of Clinton on Wednesday morning, who told CBS she thinks the contest may be headed for a joint ticket. Terry McAuliffe, a top adviser to Clinton, has also raised the prospect on more than one occasion.

Obama's campaign brushes aside any speculation on the matter as "premature," and some backers of the Illinois senator have suggested the Clinton campaign raises the prospect so voters think a vote for her will come with Obama as well.

More of the nastiness. Lets get real and quit fighting against ourselves. How are we going to fund a re vote in Michigan and Florida?

I agree with B. Smart. Hillary will stop at nothing. There is even an article recently published that indicates that she does not even know how to lose. After all, she sacrificed her womanhood by making excuses for her husband who committed an adulterous act in the White House. My question is she says she is going to keep the nation safe and will answer the call at 3 a.m. She could not even keep her marriage together and keep her husband from straying, nor could she keep an intern safe in the White House from her lecherous husband. I don't care if he needed extramarital affairs as a man, but in the White House. How can she claim to be strong? A real strong woman would not cover it up for political ambition, would call a spade a spade, and move on. As for Mr. McCain, he is 71 years old, and aging. He may be suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome as a post-war victim of torture. He could snap at any second. Just listen to the "my friends" comments even when he talks with his enemies. He cannot be trusted with the "red phone" either. As for Barack Obama, he seems to be the least of three evils. If he does not get the nomination, I'm voting for Nader.

There are Hillary supporters who would not want the ticket without her on top. So where does that leave the democratic party....? After Oblahma made the comment that all the Hillary people would come to him but his people would not move to her he will NEVER get my vote if he is at the top of the ticket!

    Hillary '08!!!!!

If Hillary and her supporters cared so much about party unity she wouldn't be half as nasty as she is being now.

And if she cared about unity and looked at the numbers realistically she would call Obama now and offer to drop out in exchange for being offered the VP position.

Republicans will have a field day wtih Billary in any ticket. The White House will become Red in color. Obama does not want to destroy the Democratic Party by exposing Billary. Everybody knows the dirt surrounding her.

Republicans have not forgotten the PeterPaul case that held Hillary Clinton Accountable Under Oath For the Fraud when her Treasurer, admitted filing 3 False FEC Reports.

Hillary says the press is hard on her. How come they are silent when she's unable to release her tax records. Obama is not stupid! Obama is not weak! Obama has released his taxes to the public.

Obama can bring down Billary but the Party will suffer. He CARES for this country.

I think it's great of Chelsea to leave her job and go around campaigning for her mom. Must be a great job-most of us wouldn't have jobs to come back to. Talk about pulling out all the stops. Incidentally, how many Clintons does it take to run against Senator Obama

The Democratic party would do well not to be dismissive of the 13 million people who have so far voted for Hillary. I for one will not vote along party lines if Hillary is not also on the ticket.

Disregard the will of the people at your own peril...............

There is no way in West Hell that Obama should ever offer the VP slot to her. Sen. Clinton represents the old ways of which America is tired.

Where are her old tax returns? I don't think anyone is expecting to see this year's until april 15th, but where are the ones from the past 7 years? They've already been prepared and filed so what is the big hold up?

Let me guess! They're being "sanitized" before being released to the public! What are they hiding?

    Where is the transparency?
Where is the 35 years of experience?

Thanks, but no thanks...Hillary Clinton has behaved so badly the last couple of weeks that it would be hard to see them together. In addition why is she speaking so highly of John McCain. Now I respect his loyalty for his country and what he has given but of late (just yesterday)she makes him sound like he walks on water. Maybe the ideal ticket could be McCain and Clinton.

No way Barack joins/incldes her on any ticket. She is way too negative and desperate for power. I will not vote for any Dem ticket that includes Hillary.

Obama would never allow Clinton to be his VP; he's too arrogant and full of himself. Clinton would have Obama to unite the Democratic Party.

Obama has lied; his wife has said racist comments, Clinton has tag-along Bill. McCain takes it all by default..... we are all so screwed!

I don't work for anyone so I can say with out a doubt that Hillary Clinton is not only a monster, she is low down. I think that Rendell must have had something in his coffee to suggest that Obama and Hillary run on the same ticket. If Hilliary is anywhere on the Democratic slate I think I will finally get off the Democratic Plantation and go Independent.

Someone on another message board said it best: Obama should flat out "reject & denounce" any notion of sharing a ticket with the Clintons. Of course, he'll have to do both in order to convince Hillary he's serious.

    Either way we are DOOMED!!

we get the back-stabbing, controlling freak in Hillary, or an empty shell, no platform Obama.

The reason us democrats are dying off again is because we can't ever pick one person who is a moderate with some experience and some ethics. Americans dont want extremists, or self serving politicians anymore. Why can't we have one NORMAL candidate who has the background and respect for democracy that Americans want? THE DAYS OF CAMELOT ARE OVER!! Spin meisters like James Carvalle have only seved to destroy our image, because instead of being honest, they minupulate everything they touch.

Go ahead, say it.....you know its true...President McCain.

Thanks for ruining our chances again..................................idiots!

Is Hillary thinking of a running mate offer from the man she claims is not even as good as the 72 year old republican? She needs to look a little further than the democratic party affiliation for a job. We do not work with hypocrates, liers, imposters, and nonsensical brains. Thats all she is and its a big shame that she thinks she can represent a country when in fact she has failed to represent a party. No wonder she is not getting any support from the higher learned Americans. They can see deeper than her witchy face. She is nothing but what she was refered to by Ms. Power. I just hate that somebody had to resign for calling her by her real name "monsterous witch"
