Bill Richardson to endorse Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.l.cnn.net/cnn/2008/POLITICS/03/21/obama.richardson/art.obamafay.gi.jpg caption="Obama will receive the endorsement of former presidential rival Richardson on Friday."] (CNN) - Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico plans to endorse Sen. Barack Obama in the Democratic race for president Friday, an Obama campaign spokesperson told CNN.

Richardson plans to join Obama at a rally in Portland, Oregon, at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

In an e-mail to supporters, Richardson said Obama will be a "historic and a great president, who can bring us the change we so desperately need by bringing us together as a nation here at home and with our allies abroad."

Richardson also said in the e-mail that he was touched by Obama's recent speech on race in America, saying he "understands clearly that only by bringing people together, only by bridging our differences can we all succeed together as Americans."

Richardson is the nation's only Hispanic governor. Hispanics have tended to support Obama's rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Obama/Richardson would be a great ticket.

I the truth be known , I think that Obama would prefer a Richardson / Obama ticket to a Clinton / Obama ticket.

Richardson and Obama are that compatible.

You can take me literally, but Bill RIchardson endorsing Obama shows how everyone (United States of America) can relate to the ups and downs Obama has been through lately. Tell me if this is not the turning point of the situation.

By the way, CNN. How come you didn't report what Obama said yesterday when he was trying to explain the race issue. When he was trying to explain his grandmother's feelings, he say that it was typical of white people. Now seriously, CNN – don't you think that's racist because I do. I wonder what he thinks of Hispanics behind closed doors.

Once again Hillary has last another longtime friend as a delegate for her side.

This speaks huge volumes about Hillary in her inability to keep long time friends from moving over to the Obama side with their delegate votes. They choose a TRUE leader for our country over a friend any day.

Thank you Governor Richardson for leading at this time when the Democratic party is in desperate need of true leaders. I do caution you to watch out for all the hate which will come your way from supporters of your friends the Clintons.

Bill Richardson is or was a personal friend, confidant and member of Bill Clinton's administration. For him to endorse Obama over Hillary is a monumental event! He's as afraid of what might happen giving power to the wrong person as anyone. Say goodbye Hillary!!!

Positioning yourself as a VP nominee, Richard?

Too bad, you didn't do it early enough when Hispanic votes were critical in Texas.

Way to go-After all the chaos linked to Obama over his pastor, I am excited to know that there some people who think for themselves and do not get misled by "solutions" with no proof. You do not get experience on foreign policy by just getting in the plane and visiting other countries. It takes more than that. Obama 08.

Talk about going against the will of the people. Way to go Richardson! There will be a super delegate fight at the convention because as we see now HRC won Nevada and MA. Does this mean that Kerry & Kennedy will do what Richardson has done – support a liar and racist candidate.

"Typical white woman." America how can we have a President like that!!!!

Please! God save America, & God help Hillary.
