Bill Richardson to endorse Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.l.cnn.net/cnn/2008/POLITICS/03/21/obama.richardson/art.obamafay.gi.jpg caption="Obama will receive the endorsement of former presidential rival Richardson on Friday."] (CNN) - Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico plans to endorse Sen. Barack Obama in the Democratic race for president Friday, an Obama campaign spokesperson told CNN.

Richardson plans to join Obama at a rally in Portland, Oregon, at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

In an e-mail to supporters, Richardson said Obama will be a "historic and a great president, who can bring us the change we so desperately need by bringing us together as a nation here at home and with our allies abroad."

Richardson also said in the e-mail that he was touched by Obama's recent speech on race in America, saying he "understands clearly that only by bringing people together, only by bridging our differences can we all succeed together as Americans."

Richardson is the nation's only Hispanic governor. Hispanics have tended to support Obama's rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

I definately believe Obama is the only real positive choice America has to bring the country forward and away from the devisive politics from the past, but it is being reported that this picture was released by the Obama camp to show the Clinton camp's hypocrisy. I hate to see the Obama camp sink to the petty ways of the Clintons and hope that his camp doesn't sink to their dirty, petty tactics.

Obama is fighting to deny rather than defend the right of all Americans to participate in an election. Does he really think we will support him in a general election if he uses his political power to silence our voice in the primary?

Thank you Gov. Richardson, and God bless you Sen. Obama! Together we can take this nation back from the fear and divisiveness that have paralyzed us over the past seven years!

Yes we can! Now more than ever!

I am so pleased Obama has received this endorsement. He deserves it. He has the best interests of all people at heart and that is not something I could every say about Hillary Clinton.

I cannot understand why Bill Richardson is endorsing Obama when the majority of Democrats voted for Clinton in their primary. The Obama camp keeps reminding us that super delegates should vote the will of the people they represent. By the Obama campaign releasing this endorsement, they continue to contradict themselves.

How much did the Obama campaign have to pay Bill Richardson for his endorsement?

It looks like the fix is on, great job by the media for exausting this minister issue before the general election. Perfect timing by Richardson. You'll see Edwards come out after NC and Gore come out before the convention.

Bill Richardson is SO out of touch-he really believes that by endorsing Obama he can bring the Hispanic vote over to him.He couldn't do it when he was a candidate with a Hispanic heritage. He's doing it to have the Obama team pay off his campaign debt. What a loser!!

This must be a blow to Hillary and Bill , maybe they will see the negatives to the type of Kitchen sink crap tthey been putting out lately.I still thnk that negative campaining is only meant for those who can not think for them selfs it does very little to sway a informed public.
