Clinton, Obama take aim at John McCain

Watch Obama’s criticism of John McCain Wednesday

(CNN) – Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, engaged in an increasingly brutal war of words, directed some of their verbal fire power this week at presumptive Republican nominee John McCain – who immediately fought back.

On Wednesday, the Obama campaign took aim at both of McCain’s major policy speeches. At a campaign event in North Carolina, Obama said the McCain’s economic address “offered not one policy, not one idea, not one bit of relief… We’ve been down this road before. It’s the road that George Bush has taken for the last eight years.”

In a statement released later Wednesday afternoon, Obama spokesman Bill Burton said “John McCain is determined to carry out four more years of George Bush's failed policies, including an open-ended war in Iraq that has cost us thousands of lives and billions of dollars while making us less safe.”

Hillary Clinton has also spent the past two days tying McCain to Bush on foreign policy, telling a Pennsylvania audience that the Arizona senator’s policies represented “four more years of the same.”

The McCain campaign released a statement in response to Obama’s criticism of his economic policies, saying, “Senator Obama’s blatant mischaracterizations aren’t the new politics he’s promised America, they’re the old attack and smear tactics that Americans are tired of.”

McCain also took an indirect hit at the Democratic candidates in his foreign policy in Los Angeles, saying that withdrawal from Iraq – a position advocated by both of his potential fall opponents – would result in “horrendous violence, ethnic cleansing and possibly genocide.”

This sounds like he is getting desperate. I think Obama can handle Hilary's attacks. She can't handle her own lies. I misspoke. Be a real commander in chief and say I misled the American people. At least Obama has humbled himself and stood up to all the controversy surrounding Mr. Wright. It's funny that you are judging him soley based on his pastors words. Couldn't you judge the candidates on their character? Or would that be too dificult especially for Hillary? i also love when the reporters quote her again and she says I havent mispoke in 12years. OPPS once more this is a joke. Wow... howard and penn have their work cut of them. If they win the nomination by cheating and stealing. They deserve the credit! These are the best spin drs in poltics! Hey hilary if you can dish it take IT! Bill and Hilary are professional at lying. hasn't the democratic party suffered enough. First Bush was using the same old politics of fear mongering, lies now its the Clintons. I cannot believe she walked into that newspaper in PA and sat down with that right wing paper just so she could talk about flowers. Her intentions was to go after Obama with Wright. kudos to Maggie and Wolfson, and Penn. Her advisers are using the right wingers and she will have to pay them back. The republicans know their candidate will win if Hilary is the nominee. Rush and Ann Coulter have endorsed her. Yikes! Mrs. Clinton should be ashamed. The democratic party is sick of the Clintons but they don't know how to eradicate them from the party. FYI don't invite them to the party.

Obama is a threat to the entire sytem. He hasn't taken money from insiders and lobbyist. Not to say he is clean but he has less dirt. He also doesn't have the baggage to carry around like the Clintons. The people of America have invested their monies. This is unheard of in any election. Millions of young Americans are making a difference. Obama is the American dream realized. Bill Clinton doesn't like that. He is an immigrant. An outsider. Not priviledged. He is multi cultural white and black. Yet he won't be good enough for every american because the country is divided into many parts. The Clintons are experts at working these divides. They are professionals at being everything to everyone. My parents call these people con-artists. They come to your home and sell you life insurance but when something happens they deny deny deny COVERAGE! America needs to wake up out of this mind control. The Clintons are smooth talkers. The media is doing it best to influence the election. Becareful to not consume too much especially some of these political tickers??? They will bring up wright for another week. It will be three weeks of wright and nothing else. Isn't that odd? 4,000 service men have died, americans have no health insurance, the economy is bust, wall street is being bailed out. and we sit by and listen to the media's version of Rev Wright! Don't be stupid... WAKE UP AMERICA. If Clinton gets it she deserves it. She sold her soul to achieve it! Obama has so many endearing qualities gong for him. Integrity, honesty, and humility.

How is she changing the rules Chris!?! Florida and Michigan are not voting! Obama was the one talking about how the superdelegates should go with the will of the people! If so, then looks like Kerry, Kennedy, and Richardson are not playing by the Obama Law. Looks like you and Obama do not have a brain. How about Obama get a back-bone and attack Clinton himself instead of having Burton do all his dirty work.!!

Very mature, resort to name-calling and attempting to play the race card i might add "I cant even vote for him now if he is in the General Election and im black." So he is starting to look unappealing but you have already made up your mind that you can't vote for him if he gets the Dem nomination huh? LOL, He doesn't attack Clinton...only her embellishments on experience and policy. He'll leave the attacking for the sake of attacking on the various non-issues to the clinton camp and people like yourself. Buy into that McCain is a democrat crap if you want.

Ok......Hillary went to Bosnia and was in the middle of a war zone. I drive down 8 mile through the east side of Detroit which many consider to be a warzone everyday to get to work, but it does not qualify me to be mayor of Detroit. So what if Hillary went to Bosnia.

Thank you Obama, get on with the fight with the republicans, and I know the 2 can easily be confused due to Ms. Clinton acting like one, but stay on course and it will be smooth sailing fron here!

The more Clinton gets negative, the worse she will look and he supers are watching the whole thing.

Hillary and Chelsea kept cutting in front of the line for food and the bathroom when we were in Bosnia. As for sniper fire, the only real threat was rain. She must have heard thunder and lighting in the sky and mistakenly thought someone was shooting at us. I remember Sheryl Crow popping a couple guitar strings too, so it may have been that as well. As for ducking and running to armored vehicles, well that not true either. I haven't run away from anything since I went AWOL from the Air Force.

I cannot speak for Obama but Clinton, while certainly advocating for a withdrawl from Iraq knows the consequences of not containing Al Qeada and not maintaining our position to defend our national interests. I think McCain will start pulling out of Iraq too, put he will call it Victory. Clinton and Obama cannot claim victory because they have been big opponent of Bush and it would signal a victory for Bush. The politics of Iraq are immense and should be studied with care.

Please! Let's UNITE and stop bickering among our party. We are all part of the same team. I know we all have opinions and dissappointments in HILLARY & OBAMA but, let's look at the bigger picture. This could be our term to change AMERICA. To bring better jobs, health care and end the war. Let's not let the media or political tactics to divide us. Regardless of who win the nomination let's support the DEMOCRACTIC PARTY. One thing I do agree with OBAMA is that it starts from the bottom up. So it starts with you and me.

Be the change in the world you wish to see.

  12. Hillary Lied

I think it's so funny how the Hillary henchmen have turned the tables "they think" on Barack. Their candidate is a liar and a cheat, which has been proven, and they think they can start saying that about a man who is not.

Unfortunately for Hillary, there isn't enough time in the election to buy integrity. When you misspeak, you pronounce a word wrong, when you lie, you fabricate a truth that NEVER took place. Hillary lied, and she says she misspoke. We heard her, she said all of her words correctly, and it was just a lie. She lied, and now her supporters are saying she exaggerated. I guess following their leader means they don't know what it means to be truthful, either.

Thank goodness we will have a president who knows the difference between misspeaking and the truth.

I think America should become like China. If it'd have been China today, Hillary Clinton would have been thrown out of the primary, based on Obama leading in the primaries uptil now.

So what if many more millians have to vote in the primaries to complete the process? What is the need of continuing just for the democracy namesake, but at the cost of all the infighting, acrimony that is going on between the democrats!
Obama, Dean, Pelosi and all the media leaders should behave like the Chinese politburo members, and declare that Obama is the winner based on the 65% of the vote already casted in the primaries, and throw Hillary Clinton out!!
Evrybody knows that this is what they want in their hearts, but i wish they had the guts like Chinese politburo members to act!!

I'm a McCain supporter because although he is a fiscal republican, his social status leans towards the left. I believe that McCain is a tad smarter than he's letting on. I like McCain's plan of lowering taxes and making America more competative grounds for retaining businesses and breeding start ups. BTW, McCain came up with this idea first. There's much more that needs to be done, hopefully McCain will have the right trade & economic advisors. As such, Obama is a bright guy but he hasn't mentioned much about what he's going to do but socialize the system. He needs to explain this instead of race relations, sorry enough Americans come from a mixed heritage so we already know who Obama is. There are a lot of us out here who are not racists – instead of a 37 minute of Obama listening to himself speak during the State of the Union Address, we could have heard more of his ideas on trade balance.

Ah Sucks I called Barack H. Obama a loser and CNN will not permit that statement.

The good news Obama supporters is that the pledged delegates do not have to vote for your man.

That is great because ie., states like New York who wants Hillary R. Clinton to win the Democratic nomination will be able to cast all their delegates her way.

But Obama can get to keep all the split delegates from Mississippi , that is what I call the Good News don't you!

And when you Obama supporters complain about pledged delegates just remember all the behind the scene jostling done by you guys in order that Obama get caucus delegates.

    Repeat my mantra Obama supporters;

Hillary R. Clinton, 2009 President of America

Hillary R. Clinton, 2009 President of America

Hillary R. Clinton, 2009 President of America.

Why are comments being closed when Hillary supporters are making them?

When the media highlighted Michelle Obama saying she would not vote for Hillary you didn't raise an eyebrow. When Obama claimed that his voters would not vote for Hillary you winked and shrugged. Some of us read the Wright story before you hid the Wright story......

We are at least 50% of the Democratic party. Stop treating us like uninformed smucks or racists.

And the rallying cry will be REMEMBER MI and FL.....

Don't try to change the rules on superdelegatres. This is a race and our candidate is behind but it's a race that no one wins without superdelegates...
