(CNN) - Former GOP Congressman Bob Barr told reporters in Kansas City Saturday he is forming a presidential exploratory committee, and will make the final decision on whether for run for the Libertarian Party’s nomination before the Memorial Day weekend.
Barr represented Georgia's 7th congressional district from 1995-2003. Barr formally left the Republican Party in 2006.
trouble maker
good. At least this guy is a REAL conservative.
Great! I hope he runs so that he can siphon off a few Mccain votes! This should balance out Ralph Nader's annoying presence on the ballot!
Obama 08!
Come on down!!! The more choices the better. No one will win a majority, this is the year all things are possible....
Oh Lord!! Here comes another one.....Good Luck Mr. Barr
I really don't want to vote for McCain if obama is the nominee. I welcome the new blood and these vampires, AKA obama supporers, are waiting for ya. They are a blood thirsty bunch.
I'd love to see a viable third party candidate. Lord knows I'm not real happy with the other three. Have to look up his record in congress.
I welcome Barr's run. I hope he stands up for good fiscal principles and sucks all the votes from McCain like a vacuum cleaner. It's about time the Republicans have a spoiler!!
Oppose MLK day
Support Iraq war
John McCain is a "warmonger"
Run Bob run!!
I hope you will run, Bob. We need something better than what's running right now.
We reached out and got the bottom of the barrel this time. I hope you will run. I will vote for you. I am looking to see if you have a website.
Go, Bob, go.
Hopefully you'll suck enough votes off of Old Grandad to put a Dem in the White House.
Bob Barr makes a fine addition to a presidential race where the cause of freedom has finally returned to our political dialogue.
WHY IS JUST NOW THROWING HIS HAT IN THE RING. IS THIS HOW HE WILL RUN THE COUNTRY, WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE FOR EVERYTHING???
OK,
The dems will have Nader pulling from them, and the Republicans might have this guy pulling from thier canidate as well.
This election year should be interesting.....
Who? Never heard of him but I'll look at all the candidates running in the general election and vote for the person I feel is the best candidate to lead the country.
Oh yea! bet this is really going to get the voters engaged. Barr further to the right than Obama is to the left. Wow mix these two together and we would get a John McCain.
Think no real news here, on a good day Barr cannot pull much from McCain.
Bob Barr and Ralph Nader. Wow! Wouldn't that make a powerefull combination?I don't mean for president and vice president. I mean for dog catcher at Belview home for the mentaly disabled. On second thought, they might not win there, because even mentaly disabled people
might balk at voting for someone nuttier than they are!
WHO CARES!
HILLARY WILL BEAT HIM TOO!!!!!!!!
So What? No one supports Libertarians. That's why they run as Republicans.
. . . .Who is Bob Barr?
Don't understand what you're Agenda is.. If you have nothing to put in the System..
Then the system don't need you.. Who's side are you working????
Excellent. The Ralph Nader of the Republican party.
I hope he run, that way as a Republican I can vote for him instead of OBAMA, if he don't run OBAMA has my vote. Mccain is not a REPUBLICAN but an opportunist in sheep clothing!
Every Republican should vote against MCCAIN and vote 3rd party!
REPUBLICANS w/o MCCAIN
Why would he waist his money?
