[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/08/art.rice.ap.jpg caption=" Rice said Tuesday she's not interested in being McCain's running mate."](CNN) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice dismissed rumors on Tuesday she is angling to be John McCain's running mate, telling reporters she plans to head back to Stanford University.
"I very much look forward to watching this campaign and voting as a voter," she said. "I have a lot of work to do and then I'll happily go back to Stanford."
Rice served as Provost at Stanford from 1993-1999, and remains a tenured professor there.
"Senator McCain is an extraordinary American," Rice also said of the presumptive Republican nominee. "A really outstanding leader and obviously a great patriot."
This would be great! What would Obama supporters do? After Obama pushing race over and over and over.... What will his blind followers do?
Find a husband and settle down, Condi.
Stop trying to be one of the guys.
Thanks you... now leave us alone Condi, let someone like competent like Biden run our state department.
oK OBAMA WAS A LAWYER, BUT HE FOUGHT FOR THE LITTLE GUY NOT BIG BUSINESS........ OK CLINTON LIES ABOUT THINGS THAT SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO LIE ABOUT, SNIPER FIRE, ENDING THE COLD WAR, TELLING GOD THERE SHOULD BE LIGHT...... NOW DIDN'T WE GET INTO A WAR OVER EXAGGERATIONS AND LIES......... SO WHAT EXACTLY IS IT THAT CLINTON WILL DO IN THE WHITE HOUSE??????????????
buh-bye condi! in the last few years, you've done enough lying for your bosses to last a lifetime. so just head off to stanford–if they'll have you back-and keep quiet! but dont leave the country, i have a feeling some people are going to be asking you some REALLY tough questions in the near future.
when will you morons learn the difference between "lose" and "loose"! I would't let any of you vote ! ! ! Gawd . . .
Thank you so much. Who needs 4 more years of you?
the most incompetent, impotent,do nothing sec. of state ever. i don't think her name will be mentioned in the same breath as henry kissinger, madeline albright, zbignew brzynski. her legacy will be iraq and the middle east spinning out of control. i think we all know why she was chosen by the cheney administration.
I love Condi. Rice. She is too intelligent to link herself with McCain who will be crushed in the 08 election due to his insistance to continue the wastefull foolish war in Iraq.
Finally, we could have a black person who is a patriot in the contest.
Hillary '08
What makes you think a democrat would vote for Rice?? I wouldn't vote for Obama..That just goes to show you if OBAMA should win he is looking at republican for V.P. NOW who will be crossing party lines???Do you think for one minute UNCLE TED would let him get away with that???You have the nerve to ask Hillary to step aside because she is breaking the party up..I don't think so...She is the only person that makes any sense...For all you people that have so much to say about the Clinton's..WHERE WAS OUR COUNTRY WHEN BILL LEFT OFFICE and where is it now???IN THE TIOLET.. (where it was when he took office)..Yep you really have something to cry about..GO HILLARY
I know this comment would never make it, but here goes...
Rice needs to get laid first before she can move on!!!!!! hahahah
Who is Concerned Democrat?
You never know who these people really are. Vote with facts not your heart. Please read and understand what is going on with the issues. I have read and understand the facts which is why I'm voting for Obama but would vote for Hilliary. I would never vote for McCain and you could not be a true Obama or Hilliary support and vote for the guy that is totally different on issues that Obama and Hilliary.
i would like to see her on the ticket
I am happy she is not running. I do not think she want to run with McCain anyway.

Ms. Rice was not able to carry out her duties as Secretary of State, how could she even be mentioned as a possible candidate for Vice President? She approved of our invasion of Iraq and knew there was no evidence of WMD.
Good choice Condi, I wouldn't vote for you either. Too bad she will be remembered as Condi instead of Secretary of State Condolezza Rice or Ms. Rice which she should have respectfully demanded.
Rice is probably the smartest person currently in politics, regardless of political party.
Too smart to want to be VP.
McCain will win handily in the Fall because HRC and Obama are destroying each other. For that, I will be eternally grateful to Obama.
McCain just needs to choose a running mate that won't get in his way.
Reading these replies certainly reveals the fine job teacher's unions have been doing......not.
Yes, but who is the worst liar of the two?
That's too bad.
Condi is a woman, she's black, and she's a hard working American Patriot. She embodies the American dream more than any candidate now seakinig the office of President. She is frank and forward and she is smarter than Obama, McCain, and Clinton together by at least 137 IQ points.
It's a shame more people like her don't run for President. As for VP, I wouldn't want to be McCain's VP either. But then again. with his age and health problems, it could be a back door for her into the Oval Office. Think about, Condi. Take one for the country and do it. God knows we need people like you at the helm.
Condaleeza Rice performed the functions of the job description for position of secretary of state, as did Madeline Albright. Aside of the MAJOR faux pas of being on the wrong side of the table in the decision to invade Iraq, she has done a credible job. However, other than the fact that she has the stamp of approval of the Republican party, I know of no significant accomplishment that distinguishes her performance in this position – so why would I or anyone else for that matter, cast a vote for her?

Personnally,
I think they should do like they did in the old days. The VP slot should go to person who got second place. How about that? A Republican President and a Democratic VP (or vice verse).
At least she recognizes her insignificance. It would be great if Senator Clinton would do the same.
