Obama: I'd take a vow of silence if I could

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/10/art.obama0409.ap.jpg caption="Obama said Thursday he’d lay off the speeches for a while if he could. "] LAFAYETTE, Indiana (CNN) - Democrat Barack Obama told an Indiana audience Thursday afternoon that he doesn't like hearing the sound of his own voice as much as some people might think.

After first mentioning that there was a time when presidential rival Hillary Clinton was "really hammering away" at him by saying he was more of a talker than a doer, the Illinois senator said, "She's not doing it as much now. I guess because it wasn't working."

But, said Obama, it's "not just because I like hearing myself talk."

"I promise you, after 15 months (on the trail so far) I would be happy to take a vow of silence and not say a word. I'd be happy just to sit in an office somewhere and solve all kinds of problems without ever having to give a speech."

Isn't this what Bush is doing that no one likes?

("Solving Problems" is a relative term, but the argument still applies)

My friends kept saying it..Americans are idiots and I always gave them the benefit of the doubt. My reasoning has always been they can't be that bad given that everyone is dying to come to America. But after following this campaign for the last 15 months, I have to face the stark reality. Americans are trully morons. Either that or the smart one's never get their voices heard.

You read both the reporters and bloggers comments and you begin to wonder how on earth peope in the worlds biggest super-power can be so dumb! My 5th grade daughter the other day asked me if Americans are really that clueless. It's really mind blowing how people can be so naive! A shame...really! But then, these are the same people who gave the world George Walker Bush & Dick Cheney! God help mankind if America is the Great White Hope!

We love to hear you speak Obama, I believe in your vesion for the future. Hillary and McCain are the two candiates that keep lying to the American people just to get votes, and I am tired of seeing and listening to all their lies, I even turn to another station when I see them on my TV. I think these two are running with the wrong parties anyway. Hillary a republican and McCain a democrate, they are so confuessed and I wouldn't vote for neither of them. Hillary Clinton voted and spoke for NFTA, and I believe that she along with her husband want to vote for the Columbia Free Trade, but she don't want to look bad before the American people until she has persuaded Pennsilvana's voters she's not for the Columbia Free Trade Deal. So I believe she wants Bsuh to hold off the voting until the primary voting on April 22nd, and if she don't win she will be for the CFT deal.

I had the opportunity to attend the town rally in Lafayette. It was electrifying!!!! He is exciting, energetic, and provided sound answers to the questions the random audience participants asked. I am even more satisfied with my decision to support his candidacy for President of the United States.

Lafayette and West Lafayette Indiana for Barack Obama!!!!!

    Obama for President!!!!'08

Has Hillary paid her campaign bills yet?? I wouldn't want her running our Country. She can't even run her own campaign!!

Bill and Hillary have already been in the White House for 8 years. Someone else's turn at doing even a better job.

I love your speeches. Finally we may get a president who when he does need to address the nation the people will actually listen rather than the old saying of oh no the president is on we are going to miss flipper.. He is the best speaker I have listened to in a very long time if ever...

Please take a vow of silence!

But wait, if you did, you'd be worth nothing.....because that's the ONLY thing you know how to do is just talk, talk, talk....about absolutely nothing.

so yeah...take the vow of silence....doesn't sound so bad

Just a thought for all you Hillary voters.
Why do you think she is staying in the race when she knows she can't win? SHE NEEDS YOUR MONEY YOU FOOLS. She is so far in debt in her campaign and if she quits now she will have to use her own money to pay the campaign bills.
So folks – just keep on sending your hard earned money that you don't have much of and let her and Bill keep their millions.
Wake up people – this race is over for her and she is using you for your money.
Vote Obama – the only honest person in this race.

HIllary continues to lose ground in literally every state she previously owned, but don't count her out yet because as we all know, the american people are easily mislead\, and we'll eat up the deception she spreads in the waning days before the vote in pa, indiana, and where ever else there's a vote. We fall for lie after lie after lie, with the lies being so obvious a 3rd grader could see between them. We always say we want the best for our country, but when we have the opportunity to obtain it we blatantly choose what's wrong, Then we pout about how stupid we were, and how we wish we could've done something different. I've been saying all along that most americans love living in chaos, and distress, suffering from the burdens caused by incompetent leadership, but I've never truly known why. This thesis is supported by those who reelected that trash we have in the white house now. Someone who makes any other piece of trash candidate look great, even someone like hillary who tells blatant lie after lie, mocking the intelligence of every american man and woman with a brain. How stupid are we if we nominate this joke of a candidate hillary clinton and her cafta supporting, racist, flock of fools?I don't doubt the intelligence of the american people, I just doubt there reasoning behind there ignorance...

Dee – I think you may be illiterate , so before commenting on presidential candidates you should go back to school and learn some diction.

Glad to see Hillary finally seems to have realised that attacking her opponent, with whom she agrees on most issues is an unwise strategy both for her and the good of her party.

Nobody seems to be saying that when it is Obama and McCain one on one Obama will be able to highlight McCains age and the mistakes he (McCain) is making in Iraq are making him look like he is senile.

I don't understand how, and why, Hillary supporters here ask Barack to step down. He won more states, more popular votes and more delegates, why should he step down ? Common' guys, don't be stupid.

When John Edwards understood that he couldn't win the nomination, he drop out and earn the respect of our country, Hillary Clinton knows very well that the Super D won't ever override the candidate who won everything, so why doesn't she act like Edward for the good of party ? She's ready to jeopardize her own party just for personal ambitions.*

No more dynasty of the Clinton s and the Bush in our country, they don't own the WH.

This new year election of the new PR of the USA is ours, the victory is ours, but if we lose it to McCame because your candidate and you, Hillary supporters, were too much selfish to supporter the nominee chosen by he majority and Democrats, the party and the country won't recover and you'll be held accountable in front the American people and in front of the history of this country.

John McCain has no plan for our country and our common problems, we do have the solutions and we know how to solve them, if you're selfish enough to vote for him because your candidate wouldn't heave been chosen, the American people won't forgive you, Hillary supporters, do think about what you're gonna do from June 3rd...
