Clinton touts her experience with guns

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/12/art.hrc2nd0412.ap.jpg caption="Sen. Evan Bayh looks on as Sen. Clinton greets supporters in Valparaiso, Indiana."]
VALPARAISO, Indiana (CNN) - Hillary Clinton appealed to Second Amendment supporters on Saturday by hinting that she has some experience of her own pulling triggers.

“I disagree with Sen. Obama’s assertion that people in our country cling to guns and have certain attitudes about trade and immigration simply out of frustration,” she began, referring to the Obama comments on small-town Americans that set off a political tumult on Friday.

She then introduced a fond memory from her youth.

“You know, my dad took me out behind the cottage that my grandfather built on a little lake called Lake Winola outside of Scranton and taught me how to shoot when I was a little girl,” she said.

“You know, some people now continue to teach their children and their grandchildren. It’s part of culture. It’s part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because it’s an important part of who they are. Not because they are bitter.”

Minutes later, in a slightly awkward moment, Clinton faced a question from a woman in the audience whose son had been paralyzed by a gunshot. The woman asked Clinton what she would do about gun control as president.

Clinton touted her husband's record on gun control during his administration, and said "there is not a contradiction between protecting Second Amendment rights" and the effort to reduce crime.

Noting that many hunters and gun collectors want to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals, Clinton referred to her positive childhood experiences with firearms.

"As I told you, my dad taught me how to shoot behind our cottage,” she said. “I have gone hunting. I am not a hunter. But I have gone hunting."

Clinton said she has hunted ducks.

    Oh my God!!
Here she goes again with some made up story about her and guns.
Do she ever stop? Next she will be saying how she disarmed a bankrobber because he was not using his gun legally.

It has become really obvious now that she would say ANYTHING to win votes.

LOL, Barack slipped up. But Hillary is trying so hard to pounce on her wounded opponent that she might launch clean over him and land face first in a pile of mud.

I personally AM bitter, with Clinton & McCain & their "let them eat cake" attitudes. They perpetually pander to the voters they need support from, but they don't give them a second thought afterward. Witness the lack of speech after Clinton loses a particular state – not once has she thanked her supporters for their effort. As a result, many of her former supporters have regret & wish they could change their vote. Her behavior regarding the Clinton money machine (i.e. Columbian trade deal) and her constant twisting of Obama's commentary has really turned a lott of her supporters off. And McCain just follows suit, obviously attacking Obama (but not Hillary) because Obama is the REAL threat to the Republican party.

Let's bring this to a conclusion, PA. Let's get some transparency and accountability in government and get the crooked, rich moguls out for good! Vote Obama.

You know, I am ok with either Democrat being the president. However, when I see Barack Obama's gathering places, they are filled with people that describe America.. a melting pot. Clinton's just doesnt have as much variety.. and when it comes to McCain, my word.. just a bunch of old white people standing around looking like zombies while he reads his speech. I believe Barack can unite this country, its what we need. I also admire him because he doesn't play dirty politics. What is worse.. lying to the American people countless times? Or telling it like it is. Obama perhaps could have watched his tongue about the bitter people, but they really are bitter, I am one of them. He runs a good campaign, as where Clinton, runs a campaign that hands out stickers that take cheap shots at Obama. You don't see Obama handing out stickers saying.. I didn't steal money from Peter Paul, or I don't lie about sniper fire. Clinton runs a dirty campaign.. sure Ill vote for her if she wins the primary.. but Senator Clinton, I have no respect for you.

Is this more "phony" experience from Hillary? Kinda like that 35 years of experience thing or Bosnia trip?? Maybe she played with a toy gun.

Finally! Senator Obama is showing his true colors. I guess now the typical white and Black voters may not be railroaded/pressured into supporting him. Chances are that the national media will again treat him with kid gloves. Stay tuned!

And were you ducking sniper fire when you were learning how to shoot?

I'm bitter that this liar is still in the race and views herself legitimate.

Senator Obama's words were EMPATHETIC, not demeaning as Senator Clinton would like one to believe. This is another ploy by Clinton to belittle Senator Obama to make herself look better. What she is doing to the Democratic party with her BS is very sad.
While I do agree that he could have used better words to express himself, people are bitter here in this neck of the woods (small town in Pa.)-especially because our government is so disfuntional and more interested in power and greed than solving our common problems. I strongly believe that Senator Obama is the best candidate for the awesome job awaiting the next president.

I have two questions: How old was she when her fahter was teaching how to shoot a gun? If she was under age, then a child abuse case can be raised. If she old eanough, my second question is did she havea license to carry when hunting with her father?
    These questions need answers.
We can give the presidency to someone with reckless behavior. Safety and security is prime for US.

Bill's record with gun control is not something to be proud of. At least not from the standpoint of a law abiding, gun owning citizen.

Besides... this is just another of Hillary's stories, to make her look human.

Oh, great. So now Clinton's a "lifelong hunter." I wonder if she's a Phillies fan (except when she's a lifelong Pirates fan)?
