Clinton: 'Not relevant' last time I went to church, fired gun

Watch a clip of Sen. Clinton's Sunday press conference.

SCRANTON, Pennsylvania (CNN) – After a weekend spent making direct appeals to gun owners and church goers, Hillary Clinton said Sunday a query about the last time she fired a gun or attended church services "is not a relevant question in this debate” over Barack Obama’s recent comments on small town Americans.

“We can answer that some other time,” Clinton said at a press conference held in a working class neighborhood here. “This is about what people feel is being said about them. I went to church on Easter. I mean, so?”

Clinton described the furor surrounding Obama’s remarks as “about how people look at the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party leadership.”

“We have been working very hard to make it clear that we have millions of Democrats who are church going and gun-owning,” she said. “And we are tired of having Republicans, or frankly our own Democrats, give any ammunition to Republicans because what happens then is Republicans take advantage of the situation.”

She called the current imbroglio “an important moment for Democrats” and challenged Obama to further explain what he meant by his comments, which she reiterated were “elitist and divisive.”

Pressed on whether she truly believes Obama is an elitist, Clinton called him “a good man,” but recalled the narratives of the 2000 and 2004 president election.

“You don’t have to think back too far to remember that good men running for president were viewed as being elitist and out of touch with the values and lives of millions of Americans,” she said.

Answers to those questions are ABSOLUTELY relevant.
If she is going to criticize and brag about her gun experience and her faith and her "mid west" values she better be prepared to back those staemts up with facts.
By the way, what about the millions of people who don't live in the mid west? Is she saying that some how mid west values trump all others???
Why isn't cnn asking THESE questions

Come on hillary just cackle for several minutes then ask them how many angels dance on the head of a pin and you don't know how to answer it. Hey it worked last time. Why does this have to be like pulling teeth ?

Right, Hillary is really good at criticizing, not so good at performance. Witness the bowling – she got on Obama hard and fast because of his gutter ball – boasting of having her own ball and shoes. But when she went on Ellen's show, you guessed it, she threw one in the gutter too. Now she's boasting of her shooting skills. OK, somebody give her a gun, take her out to the shooting range and she can demonstrate her ability. DON'T FORGET TO DUCK FOR COVER, FOLKS! She probably hasn't fired a gun since grandpa took her out in the backyard.

    >Sigh< Hillary just stick to facts, you know ,actual truth, if you remember how.

Wait a minute here, people. whatever comes out of Barack's mouth is relevant at the moment and immediately seized upon, but Hillary's comments can wait until, what whatever suits her... something smells bad and I think it's hillary with a whole new take on everything she thinks people would like to hear

“We can answer that some other time,” is NOT an answer. There is NOT ONE REASON why she can't answer that NOW unless she is afraid of being exposed as a HYPOCRITE. Let's try to put some honesty into this election.

From Obama's Campaign Website (stated long before Bittergate)...

" As a former constitutional law professor, Barack Obama believes the Second Amendment creates an individual right, and he greatly respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms. He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting. He also believes that the right is subject to reasonable and commonsense regulation."

Contrast that campaign plank with the current statements coming from Clinton & McCain.

Would Hillary put her hand on a Bible and repeat her sniper fire Bosnia story? No, because it's a lie.
Would Obama put his hand on the Bible and repeat the truth about about how rural and small town America feels? Yes, because it is the truth.
    Case closed.

When it comes to trying to relate to the common man, Hillary is being a complete fraud. Yesterday, she went into a bar and downed a shot of Crown Royal and a beer. Crown Royal? Didn't anybody bother to tell her that Crown Royal is CANADIAN whisky? Of course not – it would interfere with her NAFTA backing or money that her husband is probably getting from the Canadians. Give me a break!

The only shots that Hillary knows about are the sniper fire she got in Bosnia and the sniping she is constantly doing at Obama. Enough! It is time to retire the Clintons.

Whatever was the DNC thinking to allow someone so new to run like this. Dean and Pelosi need to be replaced as does the whole proportional delegate system. What a joke of a Party.

I am to the point were I am no longer disappointed in her. I simply feel pity for her. She goes negative to try and cover up very important things going on in her campaign by calling out a comment that was very much in touch with the people I am not only bitter I am pissed off!

She needs to get her head out of the sand and look around. people are losing there homes, and jobs yes but there is also a much bigger thing been going on in this country for a long time. even people whom want to go to school can't or if they do when done they have student loans for 10-20 years later. his comments were not divisive until she made them divisive they were said over a week ago but once again she has to go negative and for what she has no chance of winning in the GE after all the lies.

People like her fight to get into office because of who they owe favors under the table and the Clinton's owe alot of people! guess that is why they are so ready to rip apart the part and the country to get there way. greed greed greed.

Once again Shame on you Sen Clinton.

Go Obama 08. Yes We Can

  17. Iraq war IS legal

This is all the Dems have to talk about?? Nothing real, just junior high name calling. Vote McCain

By the way Darth, you are clueless. When Clinton was still president in 1998, the world voted to hold Hussein accountable for being in violation of international law due to non-compliance. When we invaded Iraq, it was not illegal, or a violation of international law. Iraq's failure to comply already made the action legal, but nothing was ever done prior to 2003.

I am not happy about the situation either, and can look back NOW and say we should not have gone in there. Just quit with the "criminal" accusations for something you know nothing about.

Oh really Hillary? Who is out of touch? Think about it...
Your Husband rakes in $800,000 in fees for speaking in support of a trade deal in Columbia, a trade deal that you say you are against...That income (filed jointly) helped support a trade deal that you oppose...and what about the China connection ....with Bill? A firm connection that helped support the Tibet Crackdown? and you say Obama is out of touch?
First of all....you Hillary are out of touch with a little thing called ETHICS AND TRUTH TELLING
Secondly...you are WAY out of touch of the BITTERNESS of this nation...the people are VERY bitter...that is why they are in need of Obama's hope, something you didn't foresee did you?
You thought this election would be over on Feb 5th
Well you were wrong, and WHY?

What I really do not understand is how anyone that is educated in the least can support Clinton II. I don't think Bill did a completely horrible job but I think that with the present choices, Hillary would be more detrimental to our country than anything. If a Clinton supporter could just tell me why they are supporting her. Is there an actual issue or demenor that I am not catching.

I was out of job till very recently and believe me I was very bitter and my relationship with God blossomed during the very trying period. I don't understand why it is an issue with anybody because it is a fact of life. What I find annoying is people who have never been out of job deliberating on how we should feel instead of how to end the job loss situation in the country. Is it not Ironic to deny us of the opportunity to earn a living and turn around and try to ride on the deprivation to success. Obama and Clinton and McCain should concentrate on how to provide jobs, arrest the mortgage crises and solve the Iraqi debacle. They should stop talking about issues they have no clue about. We have the right to be very bitter, Hunt when, where and for whatever reason we want, and draw nearer to God when and wherever we choose. It is demeaning for people who have never been unemployed to ride on our misfortune to electoral success. That is double jeopardy.

I am a church goer and a gun owner, plus I am republican, american independant, I have been to Obama's church web site and been to McCain's church's web site, I was concerned by the doctrine of the trinity united church of christ, and how many times it refered to being a black church for the black people and supporting africa as the motherland and place of the start of humanity, supposedly we are all god's people and supposedly we all are desendants of the family of Noah's and supposedly we can all work together as one nation under God, but I would like to know how many caucasion people go to Obama's church and how many black people go to McCains church, you see I attend a old school baptist church that is of black impoverished folks history, but there is not a single mention of color in the church doctrine, at all,,,

    And Hillary is exactly right.

Obama is another Dukakis, Al Gore, and John Kerry. Obama is unelectable.

Clinton brand is a winning brand. Let's face facts here democrats, the clinton's don't lose all that often. The republicans have tried to take down the clinton's for years, and failed miserably.
