McCain camp pulls its proposal - for passion fruit mousse

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/15/art.splitrec.cnn.jpg caption="The McCain camp pulled the offending passion fruit recipe."] (CNN) - For a few hours Tuesday morning, the latest campaign trail drama seemed to center not on policy or politics - but on pasta farfalle.

At least three “McCain Family Recipes” posted on John McCain’s campaign Web site and credited to his wife Cindy – including Ahi Tuna with Napa Cabbage Slaw, Passion Fruit Mousse, and Farfalle Pasta with Turkey Sausage, Peas and Mushrooms - appeared to be direct copies of dishes created by the Food Network. Another seemed to be a slightly altered version of a dish prepared by TV chef Rachael Ray.

The similarity was first noted by a New York attorney and appeared in a report on the Huffington Post Monday night.

The McCain campaign quickly moved to quell the controversy over cabbage slaw. “Apparently a web intern added Rachael Ray to our policy team without her knowing it,” McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds told CNN Tuesday morning. “He was swiftly dealt with and the page is down for revision. Our apologies to Food Network …but according to our press assistant the passion fruit mousse is really worth trying.”

Cindy McCain appears to be the only candidate spouse this year to devote a share of the official campaign Web site to recipes; neither Bill Clinton nor Michelle Obama currently have posted their favorite dishes on their spouse’s presidential sites. No word yet on when the Arizona senator's wife might unveil a new plan for the nation's Ahi tuna lovers.

Mike I hope that if your candidate should steal this nomination, and the Saints preserve us, she ends up in the White House, that you will be happy when no jobs are created, more Nafta, Cafta deals are negotiated. and more millions..... Oh no make that billions, end up in the Clinton's pockets, millions more from their shady speeches added to that. Well you get the message. I just hope they are willing to "share the wealth" with you!

    Good for McCain

The only thing bitter, angry disillusioned Americans cling to is Obama's HYPE of hope.

McCain's "Gas-Tax Holiday" is a politcal trick. Congress isn't going to lift the tax on fuel this close to Memorial Day, and McCain knows this. Remeber all the trouble it took Congress to push through the stimulus package? Stop deceiving the American people!

McCain is out of touch with the American people. He doesn't understand and wants the war to continue. This has been the worst eight years EVER!! We need a fighter like Hillary Clinton to fix the mess and get our country back on track. I am confident that Hillary Clinton will be our next nominee. The Clintons did it before and SHE will do it again. GO HILLARY ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!!!

you have got to be kidding me people are losing jobs and homes and he is wasting his web server space with stuff that belongs on food network!

This is the real empty suit! the one who will flip flop and everyone. How many times has he try to get elected now? He says Obama is out of touch give me a break what about his 2 California homes on the beach and the one in AZ how about his wife worth more than 100 million.

This man is out of touch not only in a financial since but also in the age group he represents! he will not get eh female vote or the young vote or the black vote so in short he has lost the GE before he even gets started!

I think this drug out thing with Obama and Hillary is a plot by the DNC to keep attention away from the republican candidate and not allow him to focus on one message or opponent until it is to late . For the republicans I am afraid it is to late they have sealed there doom by holding onto failed policy one after another and not listening to the younger generation they are completely our of touch with the American people.

Go Obama 08 Yes We Can

At McCain's age, I wouldn't advise the peas and mushrooms unless he's wearing his adult undies.

Wow! I wonder how many normal American folks that McCain is trying to sway to his side actually eat that kind of stuff. She needs to put up recipes for hot dogs and hamburgers if she wants to look like she is not an elitist!

Who cares!?!?!? OBAMA lifted his speech from Deval Patrick, and nobody batted an eye, but I'm sure Obama supporters will think that this PROVES McCain is a liar....Obama steals words, thinks folks from rural PA are gun toting bigots, has an anti-American as a spiritual mentor, his wife has never until 2 months ago been proud to be an American, and he has no experience at anything except motivational speaking (again, which he had ghost written).....don't waste your vote on a cardboard cut out of a politician.....

Let's see He wants to cut entitlementsAnd the very first thing
McCain wants to do is make the Tax Breaks for the Rich Permanant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE PAID INTO S.S. all of our lives. That would be the ruin of our Country after Bush damage Talk about sending more people into the poor house. And then we better get ready to borrow more from the CHINESE for another"BUSH" STIMULI PACKAGE. BUSH BORROWED 2 BILLION FOR 1 Stimuli package and we will be paying interest to the Chinese.

Some EARMARKS ARE IMPORTANT. Like fixing bridges so that people will not drive off into the ocean when they are coming home from work!!!This man thinks we are stupid.

Before the corruption of the media, America had customs that were akin to their standards of living. One of these was for the first lady, and competing patrons, posting/printing/publishing lists of their favorite recipes. Of course, homemade recipes took a fall a long time ago, during the feminist movement, along with homemakers, the family nucleus and incidentally, our standard of living for the average family.

And in the 21 century, with the corrupt media out in front, America is now encouraged to freely esponge their inward hate, regardless of logical content. Much akin to the new progressive standard of living.
