Official: Bush to nominate new HUD secretary
WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Bush will nominate Steve Preston to replace Alphonso Jackson as secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, a senior administration official said Friday.
The nomination must be voted on by the Senate.
Preston administers the Small Business Administration, a job he began in July 2006. That agency advocates on behalf of small businesses, helps advance the economy and assists in rebuilding efforts following a disaster.

Bush is the worst president of the U.S.A ever.... Let me explain: Driving us towards a recession and ignoring it at the same time is completely out of touch...But does he really care about average americans who suffer on a daily basis to get their mortgage paid up? I think NOT

Alphonso Jackson was forced to resign. Bush's appointment of his Dallas Neighbor represents cronyism and corruption at it's worst. Jackson is responsible for the indifference and neglect of HUD, which has worsened our housing problems. Please do yourself a service and look into this for real and know what has been really happening in this country!!!
And these are the clowns that will be "rescueing" the housing market with BILLIONS of our tax dollars.....(eyes rolling)!!

Whoever could say "Yes, Mr President" the fastest.
Joe, Chicago: this is not representative of just the Republicans...politicians, presidents, will always appoint people close to them regardless of their qualifications for the job at hand (look at B. Clinton appointing CIA directors with no qualifications in intelligence and not wanting the job)...Hillary and Obama would be no different...

I don't envy Mr. Preston – he has his work cut out for him.
How much longer will President Bush be in office? Hopefully things will get any worse before the new President comes into office – let them make the choice.

What I find more appalling–and most annoying–than Bush's presidency (an oxymoron) is the fact WE have let him remain in office.
