The popular vote debate

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.l.cnn.net/cnn/2008/POLITICS/04/24/campaign.wrap/art.clinton.vote.gi.jpg caption="If Michigan and Florida are counted, Sen. Hillary Clinton is ahead in the popular vote."] (CNN) - Sen. Hillary Clinton is arguing that she is ahead of rival Sen. Barack Obama when it comes to the popular vote.

"I'm very proud that as of today, I have received more votes by the people who have voted than anyone else," Clinton said Wednesday, one day after her decisive win in Pennsylvania.

Not so fast, says Obama's campaign. Clinton's count includes her wins in Michigan and Florida, but the Democratic presidential candidates agreed not to campaign in those states because they violated party rules by scheduling their contests too early.

and clinton says that she's a proponent of democracy?!? obama's name was not on the ballot. how could there be a choice for the voters? this is yet another low-handed, dishonest move from clinton.

Since Hillary is absolutely dillusional with her constant spin on this primary race or in other words she is such a GD liar ... I honestly believe if she were elected president ... she would give Lil' Bush a run for his money for claiming the title of the worst president the nation has ever had to suffer through! She is simply without truth on her side and apparently lacks a moral base from which to guide her life!!

The people of Michigan and Florida did have a choice. Both candidates were on the ballot in Florida and in Michigan you could have not voted or voted undecided. People are not forced to vote for one candidate or another. Voters should make their own decisions.

Both states should be counted because if they aren't they might vote for McCain since the DNC don't care about working things with them. Obama is afraid to have their votes counted. The big states are sending a message "Obama get out"

A Democrate for Hillary or McCain

unbelievable....of course she will take credit for states that don't count. she will do anything to win......move to a state where she is essentially guaranteed a seat in the senate, tell "non-truths" and not blink an eye, count votes that don't count.
if she pulls off her coup of the democratic party and ignores the rules set by that same party and ignores the general public, then next november will be a sad, sad time for the democrats.
does she not think that the republicans will ever let the people forget how she wants a do-over, how she wants rules changed for her??
those people include an awful lot of us fair minded, left leaning independents who don't really care for the power hungry.
i agree with the michigan voter....she scares me.

Clinton is been over divisive...she is making a claim that has no basis. I think she is hurting Obama's chances on purpose. What other way to divide the party than make your supporters think you won, so they will feel as if she was robbed

A re-vote would be fine if the Clinton campaign would go along with it. However, they just want to count the votes that were cast and not do a total do over with everyone voting. Maybe she should stop wanting it. If a Total re-vote was done now, she might not win both, and maybe lose both. Of course, then she would say the origional ones should count. This woman changes her mind more often than the weather here in Minnesota. I am 57 years old and a white male. It has finally reached a point to where when she comes on tv I change the channel. I would rather watch Fox news (now that is bad) then listen or look at her. I will say this though. Thanks to her, she picked up 5 more votes from my family, all of them Independent females.

Obama took his name off in Michigan not her fault people that liked her voted plain and simple. They could have just walked out of the booth without voting. Florida should go to her because all the names were on the ballot and like 2 million people voted. Hey most of us get it, the DNC and the media want Obama as the nominee so they will railroad her to the end, but pay the price in the general when McCain wins.

Wasn't it Obama who refused to agree to a do-over in MI & FL? Why was that?

Obama took himself off the ballot in Michigan.

    All voters must count

It is not the voter who did anything wrong, The DNC needs to address that and accept their votes.

The DNC was notified in advance of the States holding their primaries and when. Instead of considering the voters, The climbed up on their high horses and refused to adjust or adapt for the voters of their party.

All Primaries should be held on one day, it would be fair to the voters, the Candidates and Cheaper and cut out all the bull.

It is suppose to be We the people, not We the DNC and high powered democrats.

Go Hillary, you are the best Candidate we have.

As far as Michigan and Florida are concerned, redo the primary in Michigan. As both did not campaign in Florida but both names were on the ballot, Hillary wins fair and square.

This is politics and both Obama and Hillary twist the facts and intepret them to their advantage. It is how you look at it. So both camps are right. They look at it in different ways. We all blame Hillary but Obama camp does these things very cunningly too. For some reason, Obama is getting a break from many people. May be his charisma mesmerizes people not to say anything against him. It is all interpretation of the truth.

It is sad that someone who aspires for the highest post in the land cannot show example of good morals and consciousness when it comes to agreement. How can such a person keep the promise she is making to American people?
In fact HRC is playing two games here. She knows that she cannot win the nomination under a fair game as a result she decided to destroy Obama so that she will have a chance to contest by 2012. Hmmm, life is not a do or dies affairs.

Michigan Voter: Uh, Barack chose not to be on your ballot. The rules and agreements did NOT require him to remove his name and there was no reason to do so other than grandstanding. It was poor judgment on his part.

What part reality does Ms Cliton do not understand? Michigan and Florida broke the governing party rules for wharever reasons thus creating the present situation. Because of that reality, the candidates did not spend the level of resources that they would have had these two states been in the declared legit in the primary process.
As an outsider, and although the Clintons are known to be hard head and uncompromising, I think it is time for Ms Cliton to bow and go on with some other worthwhile project.
Unless she does not understand the concept of Party unity and team work!

I guess we can't really expect Hillary's math to be correct. After all, her own husband mentioned that at 60, she is tired and forgetting things. She must have done her "cipherin" during one of those tired, forgetful moments.

You are right Sen Clinton, if they did not think that you won the popular vote? why did not not want a re election in Florida and Michigan. Do they not belong to the US. If they do not hear our voice then for the main primaries all Floridians will vote McCain.

    Former First Lady,

MI and FL don't count. Remember? How long will it take you to get this? The Democratic party, which includes you and Obama, agreed to exclude these states as well as to not campaign in these states. Remember? Or were you sleep deprived when you agreed to this arrangement? You were supposed to remove your name from the ballot and you didn't. Obama wasn't even on the MI ballot. Is this the type of woman we want running our White House? Breaking rules, cheating, lying and stealing? Get a clue.

  25. Tired of old politics, Colorado

Hillary never said a word about Florida & Michigan until she realized that she wasn't going to have the nomination wrapped up by March. She keeps clinging to the old style politics (schoolyard mentality) of but their votes should be counted (although she agreed to rules a year ago), I'm ready to take that 3 a.m. call, although as Bill said "I got tickled the other day, a lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me, but there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it, what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y'all see all that? Oh, they blew it up," the former president said at a campaign event.

"You would have thought, you know, that she'd robbed a bank the way they carried on about this," he added. "And some of them, when they're 60, they'll forget something when they're tired at 11 at night, too."
I think if I ever had to land under sniper fire, I'm pretty sure I would remember thet for the rest of my life.
The question I ask is what else is she going to forget at 3 a.m., what else is she going to misstate at 3 a.m..
