Major Clinton fundraiser switches to Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/25/art.hillary.ap.jpg caption="Clinton lost a big fundraiser to Obama."](CNN) - A “Hillraiser” – a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton – said Friday he had defected to Barack Obama’s campaign. The official announcement will be made next week.

Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon – who served as ambassador to Chile during the Clinton administration – had raised close to half a million dollars for Clinton’s campaign, reports Chuck Todd, who broke the story.

"We're just bleeding each other out," Guerra-Mondragon told the Washington Post. "Looking at it as coldly as I can, I just don't see how Senator Clinton can overcome Senator Obama with delegates and popular votes. I want this fight to be over, the quicker the better."

He added that leaving the Clinton campaign for Obama's "was a very, very difficult decision for me to make. I am an old and longtime friend of Senator Clinton. And I continue to think she is a fantastic and formidable person. But I am first of all a Democrat."

You mean Hillary couldn't fool him trying to count the Michigan votes and claiming she was more electable?

Thank you Gabriel. Like Richardson, you put your party and your country 1st. I think no one will call you "juda". I am democrat but I wonder what legacy Bill Clinton will leave. He is hurting himself.

Thank God! It is time for people of good faith to stand up for ending this nightmare! Clinton is incapable conceding. And she seems not to care about the damage she is doing to the Country. She is the very candiate that I would not want within 10 miles of that red phone.

Hillary reminds of a dog I owned a few years ago. We had two dogs at the same time and the female was dominant and always ate first. She urinated on the food once she had enough so the male couldn't eat any.
That's Hillary to a tee! If she can't have the nomination she will make sure no democrat can.
Way past time to go home Hill & Bill. America is sick to death of you dirty campaign.

Isn't it mighty strange how people keep leaving the Clintonistas? Maybe they all know something the rest of us don't?

I think it's respectable that Mondragon is capable of setting aside petty differences to see what's best for the Democratic party. Being divided at this stage in the game can only be bad for Democrats come November.

Hillary should, by all means, stay in to see what the remainder of the voters have to say, but it would be great if she could do so in a manner that doesn't damage Obama's chances in November since he will be the likely nominee. Even McCain and Huckabee have spoken out against the ridiculous focus on supposed "issues" like Wright, so it would be nice if Hillary could show the same maturity.

All he raised was a half million dollars, Hillary's website put that to shame. Goodbye you won't be missed.

obama sucks. and for people to criticize clinton for playing the race card is stupid.

thats what obama is doing. Hes preying on the uneducated blacks for their votes. They dont care what he stands for, they just want a black president. and of course, everyone is too scared to admit the truth.

you will find out that if it is between obama and mccain, people will vote for mccain. obama is not a strong choice...and he is a bit wimpy when it comes to standing up to someone...its a shame that people in the united states are that stupid that they dont listen to what is going on...

  18. Run away from Hillary

Be careful of the Clintons' power machine. You should go in hiding. The Clintons' troops are hunting and intimating the Obamas' suporters.

I said this over 2 months ago. This contest is going to bleed us democrats dry and weaken us in November. And that is exactly what is taking place. It is obvious that Hillary cannot win legitamately, so the supers need to force her out now – so we can focus are time and resources against McCain and the republicans.

A half-million bucks? Chump change in an election this size. Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon raising money for an Osama,er Barack Obama? Where are the Americans at whose ancestors founded and built this country into the greatest nation history has ever known? Hillary Clinton; oh yes there's a familar sounding name with an American heritage behind it.

Seems the "shills" are out in force today. Face it, unless she pulls a fast one, Clinton's history.

Poor fellow's wondering where the money went since it didn't get the Clinton vendors paid. She's in debt and anyone who extends this campaign credit at this point is an idiot. Expect more defections soon.

Clinton just hit the iceberg and the bands headed for the deck. Hey, Bill get out of the way, it's women and children first.
