Major Clinton fundraiser switches to Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/25/art.hillary.ap.jpg caption="Clinton lost a big fundraiser to Obama."](CNN) - A “Hillraiser” – a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton – said Friday he had defected to Barack Obama’s campaign. The official announcement will be made next week.

Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon – who served as ambassador to Chile during the Clinton administration – had raised close to half a million dollars for Clinton’s campaign, reports Chuck Todd, who broke the story.

"We're just bleeding each other out," Guerra-Mondragon told the Washington Post. "Looking at it as coldly as I can, I just don't see how Senator Clinton can overcome Senator Obama with delegates and popular votes. I want this fight to be over, the quicker the better."

He added that leaving the Clinton campaign for Obama's "was a very, very difficult decision for me to make. I am an old and longtime friend of Senator Clinton. And I continue to think she is a fantastic and formidable person. But I am first of all a Democrat."

we,the obama supporters can sniff it,but the idiots who keep voting for clinton are simply too uneducated to realise this.

that's what they all say when they switch loyalties.
Going against your own contituents is specifically reprehencsible
because it goes against their votes. Oklahomans ddid not vote to
their primary blindfolded. Their governor is another Judas jumping on the obama band wagon for a position in obama's cabinet.
what a shame..Vote B. Henry out of office.

It's time somebody in the Democratic Party ran Hillary Clinton down with a safari wagon, shot her with a tranquilizer dart, netted her and dragged off to a zoo for political animals.

Gabriel sounds like a very caring person, but also very practical. The math just does not add up for the Clinton campaign. I do not see a gracious end to her final days in the race. The Clintons have done more damage than good to the party, and are now basically making Obama look like a saint.

who cares? why are you reporting this?

Hillary already got $10 million dollars in 24 hours.

The delegate count is flawed, especilly if she wins the popular vote and she will. No amount of spin will change that. The allocations were off, report on that.
    It's crystal clear.

My theory is that all this men are jeolous of Hillary. Women should be supporting her but instead they are mocking her. Whether she win or lose, she already made history!

Sinced Obama is the most LIBERAL senator, maybe he already made a deal with these folks--give the illegal alliens a GREENCARD so they can permanently stay in the US.

I am so sick of people saying, I am good friends with the Clintons and then pulling out on them. I am sorry to say this but Obama will not win the general election, get a life. WE ARE GIVING THE ELECTION TO THE REPUBLICANS. There is way too much baggage this man has and I think there will be much more before it is over. He has been great at keeping these things from the voters. Look at him whinning in North Carolina about the Rev. Wright ad. IT IS THE TRUTH, stop trying to suppress the truth. Deal with it, and answer the question once and for all.

  22. Getting tired of this

To "isn't it ironic" (who keeps posting the same inane "ultimate irony" comment in multiple threads):

No, the ultimate irony for HRC supporters is that the very person who has been advocating for superdelegates to follow their conscience rather than their constituencies is losing super-delegates who are doing exactly that.

Even more ironic is that she said she'd have this wrapepd up by Feb 5. She said she could focus on big states and not small states. She came in as the inevitable candidate. And look at where she is now.

    Now that's irony.

    Awesome!!!!!!!!!

There is still time for Hillary to exit with dignity. If she does it now, she can use the $$ she just raised to pay off her debts. Also, she can go out on her own terms after a victory rather than go out a loser after NC.

    She has four choices:
    1) Go out now on her own terms
    2) Drop out after getting whipped
    3) Be forced out by the superdelegate tide coming in 12 days
    4) Be removed from the Convention floor in a straightjacket

The sooner the better, for the party and for the country.
