Major Clinton fundraiser switches to Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/25/art.hillary.ap.jpg caption="Clinton lost a big fundraiser to Obama."](CNN) - A “Hillraiser” – a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton – said Friday he had defected to Barack Obama’s campaign. The official announcement will be made next week.

Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon – who served as ambassador to Chile during the Clinton administration – had raised close to half a million dollars for Clinton’s campaign, reports Chuck Todd, who broke the story.

"We're just bleeding each other out," Guerra-Mondragon told the Washington Post. "Looking at it as coldly as I can, I just don't see how Senator Clinton can overcome Senator Obama with delegates and popular votes. I want this fight to be over, the quicker the better."

He added that leaving the Clinton campaign for Obama's "was a very, very difficult decision for me to make. I am an old and longtime friend of Senator Clinton. And I continue to think she is a fantastic and formidable person. But I am first of all a Democrat."

Just another one switching because she thinks Obama is going to win and can do herself some good by sucking up. These people are going to be up the creek if he doesn't become president. Unfortunately the rest of us will be up the creek if he does!

Debby, if Obama loses the general, that doesn't automatically mean that Billarity would have won. It just means (in my opinion) that Billarity stabbed the Democrats in the back and handed the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave to a Republican for 4, maybe 8 years.

To those who say that the Republicans will have a cadre of attacks ready for Obama, what do you think the Republicans have been getting ready for for the past two years? An even larger cadre of attacks for Billarity. There's a reason Limbaugh wants Billarity to win the nomination; she's (very) easy to beat. She says that a Dem can't win the general without the big states. Well, a Dem can't win the general when they lose to the alternative in 2/3 of the primary contests.

Well with friends like that, who needs enemies...A true friend would not do that! If this person is so sure that Obama will win, why defect?? Why not just wait till it's over? To publicly do that, is disgusting....I would say that even if the roles were reversed!

A few weeks ago on the Chris Matthews show, a reporter indicated that some of Hillary's top advisors felt uncomfortable with her negative attacks on Obama. They believe it would hurt the democrats in November. If she continued with the attacks, they would leave her campaign. This is very important because her rheortic is unacceptable. People are tired of the attacks especially when she flip-flops on the issues such as CAFTA, NAFTA, Mark Penn , praising McCain etc. In addition, she is throwing the democrats under the bus by saying that McCain will be a better president than her own fellow democrat Obama. She also says that Gore and Kerry lost the election because they did not understand and respect the values of middle america. She has no respect for the democrats. Maybe she can return to her roots as a barry goldwater gal because she is running her campaign as a true republican.

No loyalty at all. It doesn't matter that if it's Obama or someone else. All of these people are opportunists. If the going gets rough for Obama I'm sure they will all jump from his ship too. WEAK WEAK WEAK.

Hillary has only herself to blame for all these "defections". The more she tries to damage Obama, the more she hurts her own cause.

The only thing that will stop the Clintons is running out of money...she has about $2M left, so they have their money back..no wonder she wants debates, she cannot pay for adds so she can have CNN/ABC? etc pay for her attack adds..thats why she wants debates people!! The Clintons rely on big donors, not the little guys. Perhaps another benefit concert? Bill is going to have give alot speaches.....

Wonder how much money she is getting from the nice CNN add they graciously sold her on their webpage?

The ONLY WAY Obama loses the general would be due to the damage the CLINTON have done, not McCain. McCain's attacks are mild compared to the ones coming from fellow Democrats. Side by side Obama is a clear choice to McCain. The Clintons are trying to paint him as being a less powerful candidate. Notice how she couldn't STAND admitting on TV that "yes, YES YES. HE CAN WIN". That bit of truth probably burnt her tongue coming out.

    OBAMA 08

People are seeing the Clinton's for who they really are-power hungry at any cost. Including the democrate party.......there is no way if the shoe was on the other foot.....the dem party would allow Obama to say and do the things the Clinton's are doing. And I am sorry, I have been looking at past political races and this is bad...

  18. Obama Mama

If Bill Clinton was the kind of guy who could refrain from interjecting himself where he doesn't belong, maybe Obama WOULD think about putting Hillary on the ticket with him. But that's not going to happen, so for the good of the party and more importantly, the country, the Clinton hangers-on including James Carville, Lanny Davis and Ed Rendell should persuade their candidate to hang it up and cease her destructive strategy that is going to help John McCain. We don't need a president who thinks about herself – we have that already with Bush-Cheney. We need a president whose actions demonstrate that they put the American people first.

Get out, Hillary, while the getting is good.

A campain is making efforts to register more people to the party, having meetings to raise more money for the party, the other (out of desparation) is busy shouting about debate after 21 debates and 45 contests. Won't the party members and leaders shine their eyes and see the handwriting on the wall.
Politics is a game of number and at this time the numbers are in Obama's side.

  25. Change

The Clintons understand how to CHANGE from huge debt to surplus. This was demonstrated during Bill Clinton's administration when everyone was lifted up. Hillary wants to CHANGE health care more than Obama. Hillary proposes real CHANGE. It takes an insider with the will to change to bring change about. A newcomer is easily duped.
