[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/25/art.hillary.ap.jpg caption="Clinton lost a big fundraiser to Obama."](CNN) - A “Hillraiser” – a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton – said Friday he had defected to Barack Obama’s campaign. The official announcement will be made next week.
Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon – who served as ambassador to Chile during the Clinton administration – had raised close to half a million dollars for Clinton’s campaign, reports Chuck Todd, who broke the story.
"We're just bleeding each other out," Guerra-Mondragon told the Washington Post. "Looking at it as coldly as I can, I just don't see how Senator Clinton can overcome Senator Obama with delegates and popular votes. I want this fight to be over, the quicker the better."
He added that leaving the Clinton campaign for Obama's "was a very, very difficult decision for me to make. I am an old and longtime friend of Senator Clinton. And I continue to think she is a fantastic and formidable person. But I am first of all a Democrat."
campaign finance reports.
To date, the Clinton campaign has spent about $163 million, and Obama's campaign has spent more than $189 million.
Both candidates, however, have debt. Obama owes about $660,000, and Clinton is in the red by about $10 million.
I would to do the math over over for chintion
mm Let me see this str8: Clinton was behind in the Gallup polls a few weeks ago by a big margin of about 10 points, had not yet came as a winner in PA but this guy decided to stay with her ... now, that everything points to her come back, and the possibilities, though slim, are there (Gallup shows them evenly tied at 45 and the same in Indiana, and Carolina's Obama lead is shrinking by the hour) but it's now that this guy decides to jump off the boat .. mmm there most a cat in the hat some place there....
That's great news for Hillary!
Now she can continue to destroy the democratic party on her way out the door to ensure Bill will be the last great Democratic President EVER! She can also give reasons why the GOP is the better party then announce formally she's really a GOP girl.
Go Hillary! You Go Girl !!!!
Hillary, Republican from Day 1 !
To all Obama Insulters, I mean supporters...
Keep calling the good people of Pennsylvania stupid, keep calling anyone who supports Hillary delusional...
The republicans are laughing and with good reason, you are all a disgrace to the democratic party, exuding the very smug behavior we detest in the Republican modus operundi.
Democrat for Hillary
You know what they say ,want goes around, comes a round. Hillary all yoy lies and cheating is coming a rouind to bite you in the butt. People who know you and Bill want to distance themselfs from you. Look back overe all the years, the only way Clintos can win is to trash people, I have not heard anything about what you will do for me or the country, all I hear is you trashing Obama, now he con't talk about what needs to be done, because he has to defend himself, thanks Hillary as usual the Clintons screw up.
Why do Obama supporters say that SHE IS destroying the dem. party. You playing the race issue over and over is destroying the party and the country. OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE DIVIDING OUR COUNTRY and set us back 50 years. Let the race play out, so much negativity in these comments is destroying the party, you push people and then they push back in Nov if he does get the nomination. You have alienated so many people we will not be able to come together in the fall. The dems won't win again because Obama's so called supporters are what will be the end of him. You've turned him into exactly what he said he wouldn't be. Be proud
SO THE POPULAR VOTE DOESN"T COUNT IN THE U.S.
THE PEOPLE OF FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN DON'T COUNT IN THE U.S.
THIS GUY HAS NO SENSE OF LOYALTY AND THIS COUNTRY IS SHOT
AFTER THIS ELECTION THE ENTIRE SYSTEM NEEDS A MAJOR OVERHAUL AND THE PEOPLE SHOULD BE HEARD
FIRST GORE THEN KERRY NOW HILLARY
If the mods are going to willy nilly approve stuff like the sharon walker comment, then why have this annoying moderation feature at all?
Back on topic, this is a obviously good turn of events, he is so right that we are bleeding each other over this fight. To the Hillary supporters your candidate put up a great fight and extending this battle to Indiana has done great things for increasing the registered voter base and building a formidable GOTV army. But the end is now near, we will all be better for it reaching its conclusion sooner than later.
Ook, is he going to get called a Judas too? I wonder hmmm. The writing is on the wall, watch out folks more of this to come.
He is correct in the final sentence, he is a Democrat first! Well and enough said!
My sympathies exactly. If Hillary were up this late in the game, I'd ask for Barack to drop out. Just because Hillary is a higher profile name–and was seen as the "inevitable" candidate, doesn't give her the privilege to force her own candidacy, or at least ruin a party in the process.
I wonder what this person was promised to defect to Obama. The Democratic establishment and most of the media decided months ago even before Super Tuesday that Obama was their guy. It's a really strange choice given that the lead candidate has gotten most of his delegates from caucuses and primaries in states that almost always vote Republican. Good luck in the General Election Democrats. You are giong to need it.
Take it easy, Hillary supporters. These SD's are being forced and threatened to....by the Obama campaign and Pelosi and Dean and the DNC....to switch their votes to Obama. They are not doing it because they think Obama is what's best for this country. It's like none of these people have a set of cajones to stand up to any of these people. Dean and the DNC and Pelosi and Obama, of course, have been pushing for the SD's to come over to his side in order to force Hillary out of the race so that he doesn't have to earn the nomination, but they play it out as all the back-and-forth between Barack and Hillary is "destroying" the democratic party. Talk about a bunch of melodrama.
If they actually get away with this, and I don't see that happening, they will pay for it in November when we lose to John McCain. If that's what the DNC and Obama camp really wants, they'll get it. Obama is not electable. Plain and simple.
HILLARY IS THE BEST CANDIDATE. LET THAT CRUMB LEAVE. HILLARY AND BILLARY WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT AND FIRST GENTLEMEN.
VOTE FOR HILLARY
I AM MAKING MILLIONS OF CALLS TO MY FRIENDS IN NORTH CAROLINA AND INDIANA. I KNOW VERITUALLY EVERYONE IN THOSE STATES. I AM GOD
That's it!!
Barrack Obama for President. I know some of us disagree but come on he's earned the right to contest the republicans head on and we all know that is true. Hate him as some may, we can't all decide to reject him. A great opportunity lies before us, donnot let fear or hate dictate your actions.
Will the last one out of her campaign please turn off the pctea.org/hillary light?
Interesting that it's this late in the campaign.
A little 'fishy'.
We are for Hillary Clinton.
Why?
More experienced/
Why not Obama?
He was critical, rude to the good people of Pennsylvania. Also, lacks experience.
America does not need a president who slams the people.
That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
African Americans (12% of the population) are voting as a unified block for Obama, based on race and not on issues.
Imagine if women (52% of the population) voted as a unified block, based on gender and not issues.
Wouldn't that be grand?
Thanks for joining the team.. GOD BLESS YOU...!!!
Like rats from a sinking ship.
This is great! They're finally starting to see the light!!
Susan Murphy, I agree. Sharon Walker's comments should be removed. I thought these posts were moderated? Well, I know they are because 50% of mine never make it and they pick and choose which ones they want read.
Depite the fact that she can't spell L-O-S-E-R and that should speak volumes for her... her statements definitely crossed the line.
There is a big court case involving Bill, Hillary and this Peter Paul guy that is set to go to trial this year. I think a lot of people see the writing on the wall. If this thing goes to trial and Hillary has to testify it's over. Much more, she's behind in this race and people are beginning to see the effect of the hold no prisoners approach the Clintons are taking.
Any person who believes that Hillary legitimately won Michigan and Florida has completely lost objectivity. Obama wisely removed himself from the ballot (even though he may have actually won Michigan) and he did not campaign in Florida- Hillary agreed not to campaign in Florida but did anyway. She also agree that the votes wouldn't count- now to insist that they do and they should is completely unethical. Floridans should have a say but not based on those election results.
Patty, people *aren't* arguing that superdelegates should vote the way their states did. People are saying that superdelegates would be foolish to vote counter to the way most voters have chosen. Most people who are saying that are intending it nationwide, not state-by-state. And, yes, that would be true regardless of which one was the leader.
Don't worry HilLIAR will start using her monopoly money and state that she raised Millions on Main St.
OR
She will LIE, CHEAT & not pay small business's that she already owed millions to so she can continue her circus campaign of CHEATERS & FUZZY LIAR MATH.
