Obama: Will you be my running mate?

WILMINGTON, North Carolina (CNN) – It's official: Barack Obama has offered the vice presidency to an 82-year-old woman.

At a town hall meeting in Wilmington, North Carolina, Monday supporter Jean Weiss stood up to ask a question and began by telling the Illinois senator that he's "captured her heart" with his foreign policy stands.

"When you said 'yes I will sit down with all my enemies, we're gonna sit around the table, we're gonna work this thing out,'" Weiss said, "sir, that was not naiveté—that was wisdom."

She then moved on to a question about water supply. "Before I answer the question," Obama said, "I just want to know–will you be my running mate?"

The crowd erupted in applause, and Weiss ran up to the stage and gave him a hug.

"That’s my running mate there," Obama said as she trotted back to her seat, her arms in the air. "She is 82 years old. She's got some fire!"

Weiss wasn't done, though, until she offered some advice on how to handle his rival Hillary Clinton.

"Don't hit on Hillary," she said. "Bring us all back. Let her do that stuff. Leave her alone, you don't need to do that. You are higher than that. Bring us up higher than that."

Wise words from a wise woman, if only middle america would listen to that call instead of fall back on false claims made by clintons as though they even give 2 cents about average americans.

Obama has boxed himself into a box. His base wants Obama to be angelic and above typical politics. However, to expand his base he must adapt his message to meet the situation on the ground. The wrost damages has been carried out by Obama's own friends. He cannot win IN and he had better stay in NC and actually try to win that state. Just a little advise.

I don't understand why anyone would not want our President to talk with ALL countries. That is the job of the President to bring and keep peace in the world.
I am a white southern woman and I support Obama 100%

She didn't get to be 82 by being a fool. She knows good sense when she hears it.

  6. Obama rules

The Obama supporters scream about the rules.

But they do not seem to understand the rules.

Obama will not win the number of delegates that the rules of the democratic party say he must win.

Hence the Superdelegates- who can vote for whomever they deem to be the best candidate (at this point the best hope) for the party. Again, those are the rules.

If you love the rules so much, learn them and abide by them.

  7. if only

The Obama people only want to follow the "rules" that benefit them.
Even if THOSE rules deny people the vote.

But the RULE that says you must win a minimum number of delegates, to bring the primary race to a close- THAT rule they want to toss out.

Hypocrits and cheaters, just like their false leader.

That is a cute story. But that is all that it is,a story. Fact is Obama dosn't hit back because he knows he can't beat Hillary. This was proven in debates. And I wish all you would get off this dirty politics garbage. This is one of the cleanest campaigns I have ever seen. i think Hillary has treated him with kid gloves and he still spends his time winning. And don't think Obama hasn't been dirty. he has called Hillary every name in the book and sent his stoogies out to do it because he was not man enough. If he should be luck y enough to be president who will do his dirty work then? And do you really think that other countries care about his feeling and won't play dirty? if he can't take it now, then he should should get out of the race and go back to la-la land with the other children.

Senator Clinton won the popular vote in Texas, I voted for Her; then I went to the caucus meeting. The number of Obama supporters who showed up to caucus was very large, so Sen. Obama won the caucus election, even though He clearly was the less popular candidate in the state. Where is the democracy of that result?
The Texas result shows that Caucus elections are totally undemocratic. The candidate’s campaign that can haul more of its supporters to the caucus meeting will win the caucus election, even though that candidate might be the least popular in that state. That is how Sen. Obama has taken the lead of pledged delegates over Sen. Clinton, by winning caucus states. Obama’s claim that nationally He is the more popular candidate is bogus, as Sen. Clinton has won most primary elections.
Furthermore, the process to determine the candidate for president for the Democratic Party requires the winner to get 2025 delegates to obtain a majority and thus be the democratic presidential candidate next fall. Currently, neither Sen. Obama nor Sen. Clinton has obtained the required majority. It appears that neither of the two Senators will be able to obtain the required 2025 delegates from pledged delegates at the end of the primary election process to get the nomination, so they will be tied, neither Senator will be ahead nor behind, THEY WILL BE TIED, it will be a draw. That is, no citizen who cast a vote in primary elections will be disenfranchised ( except maybe those from Michigan and Florida ) if his or her candidate isn’t picked in Denver, because NOBODY WON during the primary process. A runoff election will then take place at the democratic party’s national convention in Denver where only delegates will vote. There, the superdelegates will end up picking the winner. This is the process, this is how it should be if neither candidate obtains the required 2025 delegate majority during the primary period.
Sen. Obama hasn't won anything yet, so it's not time yet to pick a running mate.

  11. Stop your lies

From reading all the pro-Obama blogs, I do not think the claim can be made that they are more educated.

    Definately not intelligent.

A lot of posts are clearly from the African American version of poor white folk- blue collar folk.

Don't pretend now. Most of the AA community is not affluent and well educated.

Intelligence is inborn- so everyone has a fair shot at that from God.

Go away, Oblahma. Far, far away. And take your hateful, insane Uncle Wright with you!

"captured her heart" with his foreign policy stance? She must have been the one following him around the country fainting at every speech. Stupid and sad beyond words.

I'm glad to see that calmer heads should prevail. I hate the view that other countries have of us right now all because of this current administration who is not worth mentioning by name.

Not talking is doing us so much good! I mean look at America's standing in the world right now. What we need is another war or two that we cannot pay for! What we need is right wing radio freaks like Rush Limbaugh supporting Hillary! Now that she says she will obliterate Iran, I bet Hannity is wetting himself! These war mongrels have found their savior in Hillary! It takes a very wise man to listen. We need to give everyone a chance to be heard! Even the so called "enemies" Just maybe we can live in peace! We need to quit listening to fear, and start listening to hope. How can this country vote a family into the white house that was impeached? If Obama was a Clinton, he could open up a can of smelly that Clinton would never get out from under.

Gov. Mike Easley thank you for seeing the light and having the power to back up your choice. The people of North Carolina we need you to vote for Hillary. Hillary is the President we need.

Obama has stayed with the Rev. Wright to long. You just can't stay and listen at this man and not be changed. Rev. Wright is in the business of planting ideas. I couldn't believe that such hate would have been presented inside a church and included as a part of the sermon and Obama set there 20 years and listened tho the Rev. Wright. Obama your are out.

Indiana and North Carolina you must vote for Hillary, for the betterment of our country. Please do help elect Hillary. Hillary or a mistake.

  20. they see now

By now, the DNC, THE Oprah, the KKK (Kerry, C.Kennedy and T. Kennedy) and the Shrivers... along with the deadly biased pro-Obama media are seeing the CHAOS they have created.

They were certain their support of Obama and the media fueled Hillary hate- and the lies, the false accusations, the bashing would have knocked Hill out of the race by now.

Without Fl and Mi- that was a near certainty.

    A NEAR certainty.

All that pro-Obama bias and fixing the primary for him STILL did not do the trick.

The media then allowed the vulgar hate of the Obama people to take over the blogs. It had the exact opposite effect from the intended one. We rallied around Hillary.

NOW, a fatal blow of racial division may blow not only the election, but destroy the country.

That is the price of meddling with the voters RIGHT to vote.

Should have run a fair and clean primary- no ANTI-Hillary war and PRO-Obama festival.

DNC, CELEBRITIES, MEDIA you are to blame for what happens next.

Obama lies about Rev. Wright and their relationship. Rev. Wright answer to his position, "I served 6 years in the military" was his answer to his anti-american stance. Well, some people served in the military and hate this country. That was not an answer. Rev. Wright is not running for President but his protege is. Sorry, Obama-bots he is a bigger liar then Hillary. I love the way you idiots like to blame Hillary for Rev. Wright? Rev. Wright was present during Bills' trouble, that is true, along with a hundred other ministers. She lied about Bosnia, he lied about Rev. Wright. She was against NAFTA and is against CAFTA. People like to blame everything Bill has done wrong on Hillary. Just like Rev. Wright, Bill is not running for President.

I watched the video....Barack was incredibly charming and the lady really had fire in her! I loved her too!

Its not just the lady who had praise for Barack's foreign policy position. According to Huffington Post, Brent Scowcroft, the national security adviser to Presidents Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush, said today that he agrees with Barack's position and he thinks the next president should meet with the likes of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad because it's hard to make things better if people don't talk to each other....

CNN could you please talk a little more about Scowcroft's comment? Would like to hear more about this....
