Easley on Clinton: She makes Rocky look like a 'pansy'

CNN

Watch Easley's comments Tuesday.

(CNN) - North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley formally endorsed Hillary Clinton's White House bid Tuesday, saying the New York senator "gets it."

"It's time for somebody to be in the White House who understands the challenges we face in this country," Easley said at a rally in Raleigh with Clinton at his side. "They are significant. I never ever thought the United States of America could get in as much trouble as we have over the last 7 or 8 years."

Easley, a popular two term governor who is unable to run for re-election because of term limits, also praised Clinton for her persistence.

"I've been accused of being persistent, and down right aggravating…but this lady right here makes Rocky Balboa look like a pansy," Easley said.

The endorsement gives the New York senator a symbolic boost in the state she is trailing Barack Obama by double digits. Easley is particularly popular with white, working class voters - a constituency that has favored Clinton in other primary states. He is the second superdelegate from North Carolina to back Clinton. Six North Carolina superdelegates have endorsed Obama.

Easley is a former backer of John Edwards' White House bid.

A recent ARG poll shows Obama leading Clinton by 10 points in the state.

  1. Stop the lies

. . .Everyone else in NC has endorsed Senator Obama.

no, only the idiots, the press and the attention hounds endorse Obama.

Did the Clinton supporters know this? IF A PASTOR IS KNOWN BY THE COMPANY THEY KEEP!

Some people just can't stand the truth, they have to keep proliferating lies.
That preacher has nothing to do with the Clintons. Are there ANY LITERATE Obama nuts out there? I guess not, cause if they had half a brain, they wouldn't jump on the train.

Obama is already the nominee, Clinton supporters just are angry about it.
Obama is a leader who can call people to action. All he has to do is give the reasons and then give the orders. I will go to Iraq, Afghanistan or Washington to fight for him. Clinton? Not so inspiring.

Come on people! You that are under 21 years old can not possible remember what our country was like when Bill Clinton was president. I do, and believe me, our economy was great, we as a country was admired by all other countries, and respected. Obama may be a good man but he's not prepared for the presidency. So quit the negativity about Hillary. Tell your candidate to do the same and not try to hide behind his people.

Good grief!!! The Obama supporters get awfully grumpy when Clinton gets an endorsement. When Obama gets one, the reaction of Clinton supporters isn't this bitter and personal. And they're so defensive when asked about specifics and real issues! I think the reality of the grind may be wearing on the Obama camp, who had come to believe that their candidate was somehow "ordained" to be the nominee. Give me a break!!

I am an independent voter who apparently fits the "profile" of an Obama supporter. I have been impressed with Obama's speeches and I appreciate the excitement he's brought, especially to a whole realm of new voters. However, I am a results-oriented person, and firmly believe Hillary Clinton is by far the most qualified person to serve as our President. Lastly, I don't understand why people dislike her so much. It seems to me she is someone with a strong heart and an ongoing desire to make the U.S. a better place. She will get my vote next Tuesday.

With all the Judas's out there, it's nice to finally see someone who isn't brainwashed w/ a message of "hope".

There is a reason Hillary wants debates, she has concrete (but not stubborn) solutions for America.

I wish she was like that and used good judgement when her husband cheated on her in front of the whole world, my God what is she telling her daughter, if your husband cheat on you just "stand by your man" and endure the humiliation it will pay off in the end. No I don't want her in the white house she really don't have a clue on what battles to fight.

I'm hoping and praying that Hillary can pull an upset in N.C. I for one do not want someone with little to no experience leading my country. Also I'm tired of him crying file when race is brought up unless he brings it up. Sorry Obamma I veiw you as a racest and if you get the nomination I will not vote for you (LIFE LONG DEMOCRAT)!

Hillary is going to be a better President than Bill. If the Kool-Aide drinking Barack supporters in Obamalot are honest, they will admit that Bill was very good. We have alot of problems in the US that need immediate attention. Clinton will hit the ground running and we do not have a minute to loose. Hillary can win the race against McCain. Obama can not. Thank you to the Gov of North Carolina for making your voice heard.
