Rep. Ike Skelton picks Clinton

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/04/29/art.skelton.gi.jpg caption="Skelton is backing Clinton."](CNN) - Missouri Rep. Ike Skelton said Tuesday he will cast his superdelegate vote for Hillary Clinton.

In a statement released by the Clinton campaign, Skelton said he is supporting the New York senator because of "her support in rural America, her commitment to National Security, and her dedication to our men and women in uniform."

Skelton is chairman of the powerful House Armed Services Committee and has served in congress for over 30 years. His state narrowly voted for Barack Obama on February 5, though Clinton won 60 percent of his congressional district.

With Skelton's endorsement, Clinton now holds a 22 superdelegate lead over Obama, 259 to 237, according to CNN's estimate. More than 300 superdelegates have yet to make up their minds.

Skelton is the fourth superdelegate to endorse a candidate Tuesday. Earlier, North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley announced he was backing Clinton and Kentucky Rep. Ben Chandler and Iowa DNC member Richard Machacek announced they were supporting Obama.

It's nice that the trickle has become a steady drip since Pennsylvania, but if it's just going to see saw back and forth, we still aren't getting anywhere fast.

let us all remember that even if hillary wins indiana or any other remaining states (doubtly), she has to win each one by a margin of no less than 40%. otherwise, she's cooked.

i love it when her minions gloat when a superdelegate endorses her. remember that she was ahead by over 120 SDs not too long ago and it's now down to 22 (?). this should sting.

Thank goodness the Democrat party is awaking to reality and starting to support the candidate that can beat McCain in the General Election. Sen. Hillary Clinton is the strongest Democrat candidate.

Isn't it funny that when a superdel from a state that voted for Hillary picks Obama, the Clinton supporters bash him or her for not siding with the people of his or her state, but when a superdel from an Obama state picks Hillary, her supporters are ecstatic with joy. Kinda hypocritical if you ask me.

Who is Rev. William Procanick ! Hillary's rev. who molested a 8 year old girl! Let's get this in the press! She should denounce him and the press should take this how she would take the lead as president.

I am always impressed by someone brave like this. He will now face the Obama followers and camp hate speech. He will be called racist, clueless, media-driven. Let's check out the comments here and see if I am right...

In spite of the cult, the whining race cards, the money, the connections, the caucus and vote engineering, the lies, Hillary is hanging tough.

She is the type of tough liberal we need to turn the Bush cowboy mentality around.

    Go Hillary!

Great choice, you know that Obama is a loser, he threw his own grandmother under the bus to defend Rev Wright

Now Wright has stood by his comments....

Obama, you may need a few more years of mentoring from your Pastor

    Hillary 08- Yes she will!!!

Rep Skelton get on the bus, don't blame you for getting on the Obama bus. Folk's Obama bus is wrecked and on fire. Man he is having a firesale, but it is to late. He knew Rev Wright for 20 years and now he is trying to sell that he has changed since Sunday. There was nothing new in what the good Rev said in the last two days. This is just the man he was and still is, Obama knew and now he is trying to act surprised. From now on everything out of Obama mouth needs to be taken as a lie. This man is playing us for a bunch of fools. Pack up and go home,,,,we are not buying your slick talking bull no more.

Rep. Ike Skelton can pick whichever candidate he likes....but what's interesting is how lots of HRC supporters have come out with drums and cymbals to coronate their candidate........In your candidate's words, "let all the states vote first"..........don't count your chickens before they hatch.......
