Bill Clinton: High oil prices here to stay

Watch Bill Clinton's comments Wednesday.

(CNN) – Campaigning for his wife in North Carolina, former President Bill Clinton said Wednesday that he’d be “very surprised if oil goes below a hundred dollars a barrel again in my lifetime.”

“There is a limited amount of oil in the ground and everyday more and more people can afford to buy it so they are gonna bid the price up,” said Clinton, who added that drivers have been forced to choose “between driving to work and having enough food for their kids.”

His wife Hillary Clinton has proposed a gas tax holiday – paid for in part by higher taxes on oil companies - that would give consumers a price break at the pump this summer. The New York senator has also called for a Federal Trade Commission investigation into possible market manipulation by oil companies or speculators.

As an African American male age 48, former president Hillary and Bill Clinton has lost all of my respect. I use to like Bill Clinton and even voted for him and stood by him during his very tough times in the White House when he was going through his impeachment process with the Monica Lewinsky. Let me just say one thing that I was not in favor of voting for Senator Barack Obama until after his win in Iowa. I was strongly leaning toward voting for Senator Hillary Clinton and she had my vote locked in.

However, after Senator Clinton’s loss in Iowa she seems to have lost some of true appeal that really had my heart as a voter. Then Bill Clinton starting playing the race card and bringing the country to a stand still on the issues and allowing race to dominate the presidential campaigns.

In closing what a shame because Hillary had my vote if the Clintons had taken the high road to her presidency because she is a smart woman. However, I believe that after seeing her run her campaign it would only indicate just how dysfunctional her administration would be and it would be an administration that can forge our country ahead in the 21st century in regards to race relations. This is not only need in our own country but in the foreign world as well which is extremely important now because our planet is in pearl and we need a leader that can at least try to bring about some sense of peace through out the world.

And you'll do everything in your power to make sure that happens, right Bill?

    What a sleazebucket.

Scare tactics won't work, your wife is a liar and so are you.

Oh yes, and Hillary was right to vote for the war! She has proven she does not think beyond how it will affect her campaign. We need a president that cares about us. NOT JUST GETTING AND STAYING IN OFFICE.
WE NEED OBAMA......He is the only one that tells the truth and has the smarts to get us out of this mess.

Is it true that Hillary got 64 delegates from PA, and Obama got 63? If that is the case, I'll take it.

I am fearful President Clinton may be correct. There is little or no evidence of gas going down, but there is plenty of evidence of prospects showing a rise. The UK has been paying $7.00 per gallon for quite some time. That our dollar has lost value and continues to decline translates to higher prices at the pump.
If we all did one thing and made the sacrifice permanent, we could help ourselves, but, we are a selfish people and leave the sacrifices to others. Don't complain if your not part of a solution. Perhaps two presidents would be better then one to clean up this mess!

Unfortunately Bill is absolutely right. We need an alternative source of energy to fuel our cars. Wasn't there a synthetic fuel about 20 years ago?

Bill....do you think that just because it is you saying that this is a good thing...that it is?

C'mon. Save the crap. The gas tax relief is not going to do any good. You can keep my $30 bucks or so and put that towards technology that will get the American people out of this mess.

It turns out the gas tax holiday proposed by Sens. McCain and Clinton could actually save our country billions of dollars due to the effect that lowered transportation costs would have on our general economy.

Allright, Bill – keep sabotaging her. I feel your pain – being married to this monster for decades is not an easy thing. So it's time to get revenge.

Bill doesn't get it! It's about supply and demand. A tax holiday will do nothing to curb demand, it will raise it. Rising demand will mean...rising prices. We need to encourage using less gas, not more.

Give voters a break from what? I doubt that $25-$28 is going to be a real break for anyone. This is nothing more than political pandering to get votes. Most people don't understand that the real gain here for working Americans is a big fat zero. The real issue is that Bill says the cost of gas will not go down as if it's supply and demand and not politicians who can control it. If that's the case, her gas holiday means even less.

Didn't ole' Bill just make the case against his wife's summer tax break idea. A tax break would delay a market adjustment, prolong the discussion in which we adjust to growing gas prices, and even worse, push up demand increasing the price of gas thereby eliminating the savings all together. Hillary appealing to the lowest common denominator and Bill talking sense, this thing is a train wreck.

When will the Clintons be transparent and divulge the list of Oil OPEC donors to the Clinton Library? Oil people from Middle East areas like Kuwait, Saudia Arabia, UAE. If there is nothing to hide and no conflict of interest, the Clintons need to provide the list of donors.

The reason super delegates endorse Obama is because is Hillary's baggage is too big compared with Obama's issues.

The republicans are going to eat her alive inpsite of her saying otherwise.
