Bill Clinton: High oil prices here to stay

CNN

Watch Bill Clinton's comments Wednesday.

(CNN) – Campaigning for his wife in North Carolina, former President Bill Clinton said Wednesday that he’d be “very surprised if oil goes below a hundred dollars a barrel again in my lifetime.”

“There is a limited amount of oil in the ground and everyday more and more people can afford to buy it so they are gonna bid the price up,” said Clinton, who added that drivers have been forced to choose “between driving to work and having enough food for their kids.”

His wife Hillary Clinton has proposed a gas tax holiday – paid for in part by higher taxes on oil companies - that would give consumers a price break at the pump this summer. The New York senator has also called for a Federal Trade Commission investigation into possible market manipulation by oil companies or speculators.

As an Obama supporter, I've got to admit that although I disagree with nearly all of Bill's comments that make it into the news, I love it when he opens his mouth because it's so good for Obama's campaign every time I hear about it.

They're both liars. Send them home.

    Obama 08!

Since 2001, InfoUSA has paid Bill Clinton $3.3 million, although it’s not at all clear what he was supposed to do for the money — other than fly on the company’s jet for vacations and golf games with InfoUSA’s CEO. InfoUSA CEO, Vin Gupta, has made the InfoUSA corporate jet available for the Clintons to travel in style to Hawaii, Switzerland and Jamaica — at a cost of more that $900,000

The attacks from the Obama camp are only driving us further apart. Obama is going for the nomination right now – not the presidency. You people better shape up if you want to have any "hope" of seeing your candidate in the White House. You NEED Hillary's supporters to make that happen – don't burn your bridges.

What did you do Mr. Clinton about the oil shortage for the 8 years you were in the office?
You should have taken preventive measures to stop this from happening. Your lack of action on Iran is a huge part of this problem.
What did you do? You had the power and the people behind you.
    What did you do?

    OKAY Bill...

So how about dishing out some of that $109 million and filling up our gas tanks why don't cha. Hillary can even help pump the tanks and Chelsea can clean the windshields!!

What a jerk, as if Americans DON'T know how HIGH the price of gas is. This may comes as a surprise Bill, but we DO actually work and drive OUR cars to work. Americans are not driven around by Chauffers and private jets.

When was the last time either Bill or Hillary has ever PAID for gas?? Do they even drive themselves? Yeah right.

    Whose the elitist here?

    Shut up Bill!!!

How much money will we save by cutting the gas tax for the summer? Thirty, maybe forty dollars? At this point, that doesn't even fill my gas tank. So where's the upside to this?

How can you tell me that this will be good for the American people?

We don't need more gas-efficient vehicles. We need cars that are completely independent of gas and oil. As long as we rely on it, gas prices will continue to rise.

With the high cost of oil, food prices rising, the sub-prime mortgage debacle, and jobs going overseas, we should be the largest third-world country in no time.

You talk about ELITISM AND BEING OUT OF TOUCH, Hillary Rotten Clinton went on a trip to the gas station with one of her supporters, BUT get this, SHE DID NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO PUMP GAS!!

This woman probably hasn't pumped gas since when? 1980? So all that over talk about being a down home gal pal of rural white Americans is a BIG FACED LIE!! The most RURAL AMERICANS can do for Hillary is be her tax paying, vote for me, unemployed peasants as she rule that Clinton dynasty from the White House!

What a fine president Obama will be!
At 3AM Obama will make the WRIGHT decision:
throw everybody else under the bus–blame everybody else, anything
to escape responsibility and save himself!
Look out Obama's family and friends!
With Obama as a friend, you don't enemies! 😉

So, does this mean that cutting the gas tax won't really help? What's that? Cutting the gas tax will cut 300,000 jobs? So, the price of oil will stay high, your wife wants to lower gas prices marginally at the cost of 300,000 jobs, resulting in almost a half million people really not being able to afford gas.

Oh, yeah the best part about Hillary's plan to cut the gas tax over the summer: she'll still be campaigning! She acts like this will be her first executive decision. If Hillary or McCain win, God help us.

  13. Just telling the truth

Both the Clintons arses and have no business in politics. He's a big liar (I didn't have sex with that woman), and she's an even bigger liar (me and my daughter had to duck sniper fire all around). Lokk, the gas tax may very possibly need to be raisedd not suspended. Politicans like the Clintons and McCain will probably do as much harm to this economy as Bush has with their hair brain ideas. Over 300,000 highway and other related construction workers will lose their jobs as a result of their stupid wanna be somebody ideas. Obama has said that the truth is what going to help this country and its citizens. Not more Washington politics as usual. Both Clinton and McCain are starting to show exactly why senators aren't elected as presidents. Thet suck!ASnd they have a nerve to imply Obama is an elitest when neither of them have bumped gas in years and years. Clintons cheap stunts won't work! The folks in Indiana and North Carolina are on to you and none too soon. Unlike Pennsylvanians who apparently could less about how big a liar she is. Says a lot about their character doesn't it. Maybe they will see too that Obama is the best person for the jod after all.

Oh God God Love you. Hillary had a big plan this morning to solve the high price of gas , this is until the economist started agreeing with Obama , that the plans she and Mccain proposed won't work. In addition to taking funds from our infrastructure and bridges. I know she mis-spoke. Of course oil will not go below $100, if Opec wount't lower the price for Bush and he is hand holding buddies with Prince Bhandar they will not lower it for Hillary. Nor will we see any oil from Iraq even if we are there for 100yrs.

Of course high prices are here to stay. This "tax holiday" is foolish and will hurt us in the long run. What the government and industry need to work together on are several ways to make more fuel efficient cars, and cars that don't need gasoline or anything to burn. Why hasn't there been any greater amount of increace in fuel efficency? Why are there SUV's that could fill the space of two compact cars? Who needs that kind of vehicle? If you have kids, a mini-van works just fine I know because I have one.

Wake up, Ba-CRAP-O-Rama supporters! It's not just $25 we're looking at! EVERYTHING you buy includes transportation cost. You stand to save hundreds just on groceries....oh....or at least your parents will, since it's they who pay for everything while you're cyber-masturbating on the computer all day.......

Life is good, you should get one!

HIGHER TAXES ON OIL COMPANIES – means give more profit to Clinton's... The Clinton think american people are stupid. We deserve better than that.
Do not forget they get profit from theses companies...

Please, we don't have a chance! When the people that own your banking system also own your oil, you are pretty much screwed!

I don't think any of these candidates can really help us! There are people more powerful than these candidates will ever be controlling this, and these people are not in the sharing mood!

In sales you call this election race a 3 option close!
Give you three options to make you feel that you are in more control! But all options lead to the same conclusion!

Until you are ready to stop what Eisenhower and Kennedy warned you about! You are only pissing in the wind!
