Huffington: Clinton using Rove tactics against Obama

Watch Arianna Huffington assess the 2008 presidential race.

(CNN) – Arianna Huffington, Editor-in-Chief of the and author of a new book, didn’t pull any punches in assessing the 2008 presidential race.

Sen. Hillary Clinton “has really taken a page out of Karl Rove’s playbook when it comes to her advertising especially,” Huffington told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Friday.

Huffington compared Clinton’s “3 a.m.” ad to advertising against Sen. John Kerry orchestrated by Rove during President Bush’s 2004 re-election bid. “The assumption was that if people elected Obama they would not be as safe as if they elected her.” “Their children would not be as safe,” added Huffington.

“And then on the eve of the Pennsylvania primary, we had the Osama ad appear,” Huffington said, refererring to a Clinton campaign ad that contained an image of Osama bin Laden, the alleged mastermind of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

“It is a very powerful image in America,” Huffington said of the bin Laden image. “Every election after 9-11 is going to be a national security election and manipulating the electorate’s fear has been key to the re-election of George Bush,” she added.

Huffington, the founder of the popular liberal news and commentary website, also shared her views on Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama, on the way the media is covering the Iraq war, and on “the extreme right of the Republican Party.” “Right is Wrong,” Huffington’s new book, was released recently.

In the Huffington Post was an article that verifies what is said in this article from another person's perspective – that of Sidney Blumenthal who boasts being a Clinton supporter who digs up dirt on Obama. He stated that he plans to keep the names of Wright and Ayres in the news as long as possible – as long as it negatively impacts Obama.

Huffington is swift boating Hillary. I think that, like her name suggests, she's full of hot air.

this primary has become a general election and Clinton is the republican... case is going in front of a court, there is a high specificity standard needed for fraud cases to be brought into court, the fact that it has a date means they have met their burden through a complaint, in which the judge believes there is enough reason to go to trial.....if it was bs, if it was garbage it wouldn't have gotten a court date....someone report on this.

Another CNN analyst with no credibility chimes in! This woman is so in the Obama camp that you should really make her wear an Obama button when she's on the air. Please CNN, with the likes of your "neutral analysts" like Donna Brazile and Roland Martin, do you really need another one? This really is another example of true journalism biting the dust in the year 2008. Shame!!

Merely states the obvious - The politics of Clinton are fundamentally no different than Bush, just different wrappers.

Clinton and McCain are effectively interchangeable: Both supported the war, NAFTA, gas tax holiday, etc., etc., etc.

Billary is just plain nasty with these attacks. I don't understand the posters who claim these two candidates are so similar; they're not. With every new dirty tactic and attempted smear by the Clintons, Barack Obama just looks more and more Presidential.

Yes he can ! Yes he will !

  14. liberal media BS

What a liberal media report. Not a surprise from the Huffington post. What a joke. Does the media really believe the public cannot intelligently decide the facts on their own. You can continue to shove Obama if that is your purpose. But you shoving him down the American thoat doesn't mean he will win in Nov. Wake up. Americans need help. No matter how liberal you wish this Great Country is==we are still realists. Arianna is a joke. A big joke with no credibility. Keep wishing or go back to your liberal home Country, we will not miss you, I can promise that.

I can't understand why the American people can't see Hillary Clinton for what she is. She will do absolutely anything to get elected – its actually scary. Having her for a president would be a different version of George Bush. I mean how could you trust her to listen to the people once she gets elected?

I cannot wait for this Democratic contest to be over! Politicians play so dirty. If all she can do is play on the fears of people, then God be with her, because she will need it. She's been in Washington for too long anyway. I am ready for a change. I'm tired of the same old politicians doing the same ole thing, with the same results, and the people complaining about the same things. WELL, CHANGE WHO YOU SEND TO WASHINGTON!!! IN OTHER WORDS, DO NOT VOTE ON NAME RECOGNITION, VOTE ON WHO YOU FEEL WIL RESOLVE THE ISSUES THAT YOU HAVE. And HRC, well, she seems to be senile, she voted for the war and she believes that she was under sniper fire in Bosnia, so what would she know about stopping Bin Laden. It's been 7 years and he's still MIA and what are we doing about that, oh, that's right, concentrating on Iraq!!!!

just because u are a liberal democrat and want to see the most liberal guy running in the white house does not mean you come up with comments that have no backing. the obama campaign are the ones who used a mail flyer that the republicans literally did use against hillary and health care. so give me a break, get over yourself huffington, your not that great !!!!!!!!

liberals like huffington like to pretend that terrorist don't exist. extremist are out there, and hillary addressed that in her commercial. americans are concerned about terrorism, not just bitter, bible toting, gun wielding, bigots in america, like obama likes to refer to us, but real americans who hillary can relate to.
