Exit polls: Half of Clinton's supporters won't back Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/05/06/art.clinton.supporters.jpg caption="Hillary Clinton takes a picture with supporters in Indiana."]
(CNN) - Just how badly is the Democratic Party divided?

According to the exit polls, half of Clinton's supporters in Indiana would not vote for Obama in a general election match up with John McCain. A third of Clinton voters said they would pick McCain over Obama, while 17 percent said they would not vote at all. Just 48 percent of Clinton supporters said they would back Obama in November.

Obama gets even less support from Clinton backers in North Carolina. There, only 45 percent of Clinton supporters said they would vote for Obama over McCain. Thirty-eight percent said they would vote for McCain while 12 percent said they would not vote.

Obama voters appear to be more willing to support Clinton in November. In Indiana, 59 percent of Obama backers said they'd vote for Clinton, and 70 percent of Obama backers in North Carolina said they'd support the New York Democrat.

How about the Republicans crossing over to vote for Hillary in the primaries because they would rather face a foe with more baggage?

Of course they won't vote for Obama come November.

They won't vote for Hillary either, but the poll didn't ask that.

Then why do they like Hillary??? NINETY PERCENT OF THEIR POLICY STANCES ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME.

Really makes a lot of sense that if your candidate doesn't get the nomination you'll switch to one COMPLETELY different. Idiots.

Clinton supporters put their candidates above the party. They're willing to throw away a democrat in the oval office, because it can't be Hillary. If they're willing to endure 4 more years of Bush to prove a point, I say, let 'em.

Didn't your mother tell you "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face"??

The superdelegates better take this into consideration, and Without allowing florida and michigan to revote, you have 50 percent of hillarys votes and two KEY states against obama, he is gonna have a hard time even having a chance against McSAME.

Nice going !! Shame on you all!! If you are a true democrat you will never vote or support for R. Of course that rule doesn't apply for Hillary people.

That sounds like the voters Clinton attracts. They would rather have NO health care than have health care. They're just female chavunists. She won't win without the black vote which is 92% to 94% for Barrack Obama. Plus the educated voters are supporting Obama.

That's because Hillary's supporters won't vote for any black person.

Obama's supporters are voting for him, not against her.

Can you at least spell check what you write before it goes public?

I believe it was back in early February that Obama said himself that,

' Clintons supporters would vote for him but his supporters would not vote for her. '

I think those statements caused a backlash against him.

I thought the right to vote was about what you believe, not to only vote for your party.

And who is to blame for the nasty, and negativity that has been brought abt? Congrats Clinton and supporters- you have completely ruined the democratic party and have caused a split that you all should be ashamed of. Americans-get ready for another war with Iran-Clinton is ready for it she siad so herself. Maybe she'll draft herself and her husband

  22. Not Americans?

We are not Americans if we do not vote for Obama? What nonsense is that. He is not American because he will not wear the American Flga Pin or put his hand on the Holy Bible.

What makes America the geat place that it is – is the fact that it is a FEEE COUNTRY AND PEOPLE CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT WITH THEIR VOTE. We will not go to hell if we don't vote for Obama – I think the opposite is true!!

This honestly shows you who really cares about the Democrats. If you dont want to vote for Obama, fine. Live another 4 years wondering why we will be royally jacked up as a country. I am an Obama supporter and I will support Clinton because I am a democrat, not just someone pretending to be.

That is because most of them are the Republicans Rush sent out to vote for her.

It is sad that the Republicans aren't confident enough that their candidate can win on his own. They want to "stack the deck". Time for Change.

    Go Obama!

Clinton supporters would cut off their own noses to spite their faces. She has totally divided the Democratic party. Why would any Democrat vote for John McCain or not vote Democrat, If their candidate loses? He promotes neither Democratic candidate policies or plans for a better America.

Don't let your pride blind you. Vote Democrat, whomever that is.
