Clinton touts support from 'white Americans'

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption=" Clinton campaigned in Washington Thursday."](CNN) - In what appear to be the New York senator's most blunt comments to date regarding a racial division in the Democratic presidential race, Hillary Clinton suggested Wednesday that "White Americans" are increasingly turning away from Barack Obama’s candidacy.

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," Clinton said in an interview with USA TODAY.

Clinton cited an Associated Press poll "that found how Senator Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

"There's a pattern emerging here," she said.

Exit polls from Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina show Clinton won about 60 percent of the white vote in both states. That percentage is down from the Ohio primary on March 4, in which Clinton won upwards of 65 percent of the white vote. Meanwhile, Clinton garnered 63 percent of the white vote in Pennsylvania on April 22.

Speaking with the paper, Clinton rejected the notion her comments were racially divisive in any way.

"These are the people you have to win if you're a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election," she said. "Everybody knows that."

Obama spokesman Bill Burton called Clinton's statements "not true and frankly disappointing."

Not so much the fact that white America wants Hillary as we don't want obama. And he has done absolute nothing while he was in the state senate or the US senate. He is a do-nothing, done-nothing person. And yes..he has gotten where he is because he got the black vote in the republican states.

Now just think. Since he can only win democratic voters in the republican states AND those states are mostly 3 to 1 republican and some haven't voted republican in 75 years who do you think is going to win all those states the good old boys bought an extra large codpiece because a MAN beat a WOMAN.

And the more the DNC and MSM push us toward obama the more we are going to dig in and change over to the republican side. And like in the 50's when the Dixicrats went over to the republicans. WE WILL NEV ER COME BACK.

At this point it seems like Hillary doesn't want a democrat to win if it can't be her. Her selfishness is amazing.

Let all the whites vote for Hillary and all the blacks for Obama. That way they both lose and more importantly, this country loses. We are finally nearing an end to racial discrimination, prejudice, and hatred and these polls and Hillary are trying to stir it all back up again. What a shame. Go Obama!!!

This middle aged White Woman does NOT want you Hillary or any other Clinton for that matter !

Stop divided this party Hillary and bow out now.

It's quite funny people call Hillary racist...she had been a big advocate for human/civil rights. Both her and her husband are far from racist. Unfortunately, the black community bailed on her. YEP!! that's how they show the love!!!

  6. Shocked

She's now blatantly playing the race card and the gender card and calling MI and FL a "civil rights" issue. She's going off the deep end. It's time for the superdelegates to put her and the Party out of this misery and to do so asap.

Anything to win. Even if it divides the country.
Is she not a pure White Supremacist (ULTIMATE RASCIST)???

Hillary will singlehandedly separate blacks from the democrat party. Independents are going to be huge after this election. She is absolutely shameless.

It was said long time that these corocdile pedophile Clintos has been using the race card long time but CNN (of course white monkeys) such as Blitzer and Correspondent King have been lamenting indirectly by emphasisizing on thier borad by saying the "BLUE Colar" they mean whites. It is understandable that is the only way to be at top by deceiving as if they are saintes. The Clintones are disgusting Americans (Ise-landes) superficially claiming now the American Problem Solvers. That is why they are hated by every one specifically by intellectuals for they are trye liars. Let she go and sleep with her husband and see the sky upwards. Nothing comes !!!!!!

Give it up, Hillary. We good-ole-boys here in North Carolina weren't fooled one bit by those speeches you gave from the bed of a pickup truck. We aren't as gullible as you think. We know that people who raked in 100 million in eight years aren't the kind who drive around in pickups or have friends who do. As Lincoln put it: "You can't fool all of the people all of the time. So give it up. You and your de facto running mate, husband Bill, have run out of tricks.

It's too bad Hillary doesn't have access to a time machine because she would have found alot of support for these comments in 1938 Germany. Maybe she can come up with some kind of nifty hand sign to help solidy support for the brotherhood. And put on a brown pantsuit while she is at it....Hillary is a perfect symbol of much of what is wrong in the country, and she would clearly sell her own grandmother for 100 delivered votes.

Senator Clinton needs to go home and get some rest. It is obvious that she is extremely fatigued and needs some rest. How more ridiculopus can it get with her justifications on staying in the race. Simply amazing!!!

The DNC and super delegates need to show some testicular fortitude and stand up to the Clinton's.

We can't allow the Hillary to bully the party any more.

Enough with the side shows. Let us get on with the presidential campaigns.

Is Senator Clinton really that tone deaf, or is she simply playing the race card in a calculated attempt to undermine an opponent who is defeating her? Color this how you will, but this "white American" is deeply disappointed by the tenor of Clinton's campaign. Then again, perhaps I'm just one of the "elite" who aren't, apparently, real Americans anyway.

Playing a race card is not the answer, not all "white" people want her, not categorically speaking. Many whites want Obama or McCain, other whites aren't voting at all. Hilary needs to quit before she really goes too far. Furthermore, the voters have spoken and Obama is winning...enough said, next topic.

This is breathtakingly racist and, even after the Clinton's previous subtly divisive comments, shocking to read. How desperate this woman is and how little she cares about the damage she inflicts on the country!

    Post this CNN

62% of registered voters in this country are whites, if you don't have the support of Middle America which Obama LABELED as BITTER CLINGING TO THEIR GUNS AND RELIGION and BIGOTS, you CANNOT win in General Election.

92% of blacks voted for Obama in every state there's a black population, how come NONE of you labeled it as racist? When Hillary says majority of whites voted for her, you call it racist, bigotted ?

The problem with Obama cult followers, they're TUNNEL VISIONIST!

  20. Outraged!!

I am outraged by the comments that HRC made. Now this is confusing to me Rev Wright says "divisive" words and they blame it on Obama BUT HRC says it and she's not being divisive or racial in anyway. HRC supporters please help me with this one.

I am an AA and I supported Bill Clinton both terms and now HRC is saying the only vote that counts is the "WHITE" vote! I am offended!!
utterly offended and sadden that she stated that other people of color don't count as well. No matter how you spin it, that's what she said.

Why are Democrats so dumb? We DO need rural whites to win in November.

i thought America is not about racism...but it seems that it is still alive and well. The race for President is about "race".....America is returning to the old times and Hillary doesn't care as long as she gets the 'white Americans'..
You see there are African Americans, Asian Americans, Indian (native) Americans and there are White Americans. What happened to European Americans?

Those supporters of Senator Obama who are calling Senator Clinton a "racist" or a "bigot" for pointing out a pattern which CNN, among other media outlets, has also noted are way out of line!
If the Obama campaign thinks that they can unite us all behind him after accusing us of being racists, liars and/or just plain fools, they may be in for a rude awakening in November.
Considering the closeness of this race, I am happy for Senator Clinton to stay in until voters in every state and territory have had the opportunity to cast their vote. The nearly fifty percent of Democratic voters who support Hillary because of her health care plan, commitment to early childhood education, strong record of standing up for human rights, knack for foreign policy and embodiment of the unbreakable American spirit, will not be fooled by the Party’s bait and switch trick.

How absurd and strange. Hillary, please keep your omniscient ramblings, ie political trash talk, to yourself. She has moved from screeching to pathetic. Rephrase her words and what do you get? "Ignorant, poor and hopeless white fold will vote for me." She says, "everyone knows that" but who is "everyone"?

The ticker's subject "white Americans want me" is inappropriate. It sounds like Clinton said that.

CNN, please change it. Hillary is talking about fact. Thanks.
