Sources: Clinton supporter pressures Pelosi

Sources say Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut contributions to congressional Democrats.

Sources say Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut contributions to congressional Democrats.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Hillary Clinton supporter Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut off contributions to congressional Democrats unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi embraced his plan to finance revotes in Florida and Michigan, three officials familiar with their conversation said.

Weinstein and Pelosi talked on the phone late last month, the sources said.

The three officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk publicly about the conversation.

They said Weinstein, a top supporter of Clinton's presidential campaign, appeared determined to buy Clinton more time in her battle against Sen. Barack Obama by pushing for the revote. He was also pressing Pelosi to back off her previous comments that superdelegates should support the candidate who's leading in pledged delegates in early June, the sources said.

And judging from Pelosi's comments yesterday she has succumbed to this pressure, shame on you Pelosi. It is done, Michigan and Florida were simply beauty contests.

I hate to say this. But the only Democrat who is capable of running a successful campaign without losing his moral principals is Obama.

Both DNC and Clintons have made too many wrong decisions, display questionable ethics, feed us with endless spins and blame everyone else but their weaknesses.

In all, they still continue to exhibit very poor management and leadership skills.

This really sucks! Threats of withholding money unless the DNC and Pelosi change the democratic rules to favor Clinton is the typical approach of well funded lobbists who put their interests ahead of the American people.

    Don't do it Pelosi!!!

  13. Keep Your Money, Harvey!

Harvey, keep your money! We don't need someone who thinks they can overcome all existing rules and all previous agreements by threatening the Speaker! Get lost!

Hillary previously agreed, just like everyone else, that the primaries in Florida and Michigan were not going to count.

Pelosi needs to show this guy the door.

    This is scary stuff.
Rich people trying to buy the Speaker of the House of Representatives so a State vote counts?

If true, this is a scandal of greater magnitude that even Teapot Dome. We are not talking about money to a secretary of the interior for oil lands, this is about money to subvert the 3rd in line to the Presidency about counting State votes.

This is a HUGE SCANDAL. How dare someone even attempt this!

A lot of her supporters are willing to "finance" a revote, most notably Carville and Rendell. I wonder if her supporters are financing the results as well.

If Pelosi "embraces" this now she's no better than the rest of the dirty politicians out there. It's this kind of back room politics that convinces me even more that we need a change in Washington and that change is not going to come from Clinton.

    The Democrats should learn that the more they try to take Obama through the trenches the more they push me as a REPUBLICAN to Vote for A Democrat this year. I'm only 37 years Old and I WISH OBAMA was a REPUBLICAN. I'm Proud to call myself OBAMACAN;

When I read things like this, I feel that the Democratic nomination is "for sale". Either Hillary will buy the nomination for herself, with her millions now and "pay herself back " when she's the President or she'll have people like Weinsein buy it for her. This corruption in the Democratic Party will cause people like me, who have never voted Republican in the past, to actually vote Republican in the Fall if the will of the people is overturned by back room politics.

this is a good example of who's really in charge... Clinton, and her supporters are everything that America is not about.. and now her next to last trick is out right race card. Pelosi, more than ever must now prove herself to the American people... and vote her convictions, if it is Obama, or Clinton she should do it now. Weinstein, will lose when the Clinton machine meets its timely death, it is clear that he is a great part of their machine and must be destroyed.

Good for Speaker Pelosi standing her ground and principles on not letting Mr. Weinstein intimidate her with his demands. I cannot believe the arrogance of this person after reading the article.
Can we please just put the Michigan and Florida "re-vote" behind us because both Senator Clinton and O'Bama understood the rules the DNC made months ago and the both of them agreed to it. Of course now that Senator Clinton is not going to be the nominee and she has known this for months, she wants to change the rules. I admire Politicians like Speaker Pelosi who are not influenced by a person's "status" in this country.....
