Clinton draws parallel between her campaign, JFK's 1960 run

Hillary Clinton compared her Campaign to JFK's Monday.'

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton said again Monday that no Democratic presidential candidate can win without a victory in West Virginia - and drew a parallel between her own campaign and John Kennedy’s 1960 White House run.

“It was West Virginia that made it possible for John Kennedy to become president,” Clinton said at a Clear Fork, West Virginia campaign stop. “Now, John Kennedy didn’t have the number of delegates he needed when he went to the convention in 1960. He had something equally as important - he had West Virginia behind him, because it’s a fact that Democrats don’t get elected president unless West Virginia votes for you…”

Barack Obama may be the party’s pledged and superdelegate leader – but that status does not appear to have helped him in West Virginia, where Clinton leads by 30-40 points in recent state polls.

“So I’m here today because I know what’s really going to matter tomorrow,” said Clinton. “It’s the votes of the people of West Virginia and if you will come out and honor me with your vote I will work my heart out for you.

Clinton criticized the Democratic front-runner on his health care proposal, and his rejection of her proposed “gas tax holiday.”

“My opponent Sen. Obama says, “Oh no, that’s just a gimmick, that’s not going to help people,” said Clinton before again arguing that it will save families $70 on average and more for those with longer commutes as well as truckers.

Clinton added that West Virginia proportionately has more veterans, “more people who have served in the conflicts and in the armed forces of the United States….

“It is the hard-working, dedicated people of West Virginia who have really made America what it has been, and what it will be again.”

NO, alfonso... Winners DO not vote for winners... that is why we got Bush for 8 years. I voted for Kerry... I should have gone with McCain then.

The most intelligent people of West Virginia and the other remaining five states of these democrat primaries will vote for the virtual winner that is Barack Obama. This action will give strong voice of needed change and political power in Washington D. C. to find solutions to solve the economic crisis that had diven to the actual Republican administration of Mr. Bush and Dick Chenney the United States and the rest of the world , in fact, the only thing they have well done is to fill their own pockets and of their friends, with companies like Halliburton , Dyncorp, Blackwater, K.B.& R. among others by making a endless war in Iraq (non- authorized by the Security Council of the United Nations) with a lot of oil and the highest gas prices in history and still climbing, leaving and a trail of blood, devastation and deaths of thousands of U. S. soldiers and hundred of thousand innocent Iraqis civilians among other more palpable domestic consequences we are feeling that had been warned before they happen by Obama.

Winners vote for winners not for second place contestants.

Not to "bash" any supporter but why would a women running for POTUS have her county office across from a stripper bar? As a woman, I find this to be very belittling.......

Wow, looks the the Obama supporters are really nasty people - and arrogant like their candidate. I know people who are supporting Obama only because he is a fresh face - and by the way they are "educated".

I think there are many democrats that are going to be surprised, just like they were when George W. won in 2000 and 2004. It takes a candidate that can win the electoral college (big states, swing states, and yes with the votes of those supposedly less educated, poor, and old voters).

    GO HILLARY 08 or McCain!!

To all of you numbskulls who accused Hillary of comparing herself to JFK....this is the thing that must drive all candidates crazy. That's not what she said....she was comparing her position at this point in the campaign to JFKs. If you don't support her, fine but quit making her wrong about every single thing she does. Half of you who make those ridiculous remarks can't seem to spell or write a decent sentence anyway so get off your pedestals.

once again read all the nasty hate filled posts from the campaign of hope and change. I can't believe what a bunch of hypocrites Obama supporters are. You talk about uniting, but you can't even stop destroying people in your own party. WV has it right, Hillary should be our President, and I plan on writing her in, in the primary. Obama and his hate filled supporters will never win, the rest of the country will catch on to the hate his supporters spread. Everyone who wants someone with decency in the White House, print out these posts, show your friends and family what the Obama campaign is really about. It's all written right here, nothing but hate.

Oh, puke. She wasn't going to even be in WV until she lost last Tuesday; now it's suddenly the lynchpin state to the entire process? Now she's JFK? It's disappointing that WV would believe Hillary would do anything for them when Bill didn't during his presidency.

People say that Hillary is staying in the race just to destroy any chance for Obama to win.

Wow... if that is the case, I hope she never quits running.

I believe Ms. Clinton SHOULD continue to run., not only does she ahve every right, it is the RIGHT thing to do. She ahs preached (ever since she needed FL and MI to count) that ALL votes should count to do other than run through these alst 6 selections would be wrong not just for her but for the party. She has managed to convince the people that there is some RIGHT to vote in a primary, to argue the point would only pout Mr. obama in a bad light (even though it is not a REAL point there is NO RIGHT to vote in Primaries). Also, once the primaries are all completed, and FL and MI are placated (it was Ms. Clinton who turned down the last offer from Mi remember!) the numbers will show Mr. Obama winning and there will be NO REAL arguement for saying Ms. clinton had the election stolen or only won because of the way the election was run. That being said I expect her to make a GREAT keynote speech here in Denver as she introduces Mr. Obama and Ms. Sebilius as the next President and Vice President of the US.

Was she the one who was saying "small states" don't matter that she was winning the "large states". Or something like that. We know how most old, white people feel about Obama so its no suprise she's winning the vote. My best freiends grandparents are good people but I can't ever imagine them voting for Obama.

Hillary, noone in their right mind would ever compare you, "Miss Negative", to JFK. And why is it that lie after lie, Hillary voters still continue to support her. At some point, you have to say enough is enough or is it that birds of a feather flock to together? Is it those women out there that let their men continue to run all over them, the same ones that are sticking by Hillary's side? Doesn't everyone think that it's strange that the Clintons have been investigated by so many US and state agencies, can the US surive another scandal? Look at the Columbia connection? There is bound to be more!

P.S. The racial issue was first raised by Obama in his campaign stump speech when he talked about going to Chicago and becoming a community organizer . . . .a deft insert of the race card and he has played it ever since.

The last thing the american public need,s in the white house is a un-experianced young black man with no experance. We need the clintons back in the white house to straighten up all of the mess that george bush caused . The only people that can do this is the clintons . Thay did it before and thay can do it again. We really need someone with experance in there. OBAMA DOES NOT HAVE THE EXPERANCE . MC CAIN IS TO OLD AND OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE COUNTRY, ELECTING HIM WOULD BE LIKE ELECTING BUSH ALL OVER AGAIN.SO YOU REALLY THINK THAT THESE [2] CARE ABOUT HEALTH CARE ? HILLARY CLINTON [ DOES ] SHE SPENT ALL OF HER POLITICAL LIFE FITTING TO CHANGE IT BUT THERE WERE TO MANY MEN IN GOVERMENT TO ADMIT THAT SHE WAS RIGHT . SHE IS A SMART LADY AND I THINK THAT IT,S TIME TO GIVE THE LADY HE DO .

  25. If not Hillary....then MCCAIN!

Hillary supporters! You know about all the vicious things that Obama's supporters have called our chosen candidate. Those of us who support Hillary have done so for various reasons; because of her intelligence, knowledge, experience in politics, her devotion for the great things about our country, etc. She has been painted as a monster, deceiver, liar, divisive, hateful, and these have been the nicer epithets given her! Do you want to align yourselves to these people for the sake of the Democratic Party? I am an independent, you do not have to join the Republican Party, but please lets give these democrats a lesson they will never forget, instead of voting for Obama OR MacCain, stay home or vote for some other presidential candidate such as the Libertarian, or whomever you wish. Without our help Obama's supporters will be lost and so will Obama.

Long live freedom, voting one's conscience, down with ugliness and meaness of the Obama camp.!
