Clinton draws parallel between her campaign, JFK's 1960 run

Hillary Clinton compared her Campaign to JFK's Monday.'

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton said again Monday that no Democratic presidential candidate can win without a victory in West Virginia - and drew a parallel between her own campaign and John Kennedy’s 1960 White House run.

“It was West Virginia that made it possible for John Kennedy to become president,” Clinton said at a Clear Fork, West Virginia campaign stop. “Now, John Kennedy didn’t have the number of delegates he needed when he went to the convention in 1960. He had something equally as important - he had West Virginia behind him, because it’s a fact that Democrats don’t get elected president unless West Virginia votes for you…”

Barack Obama may be the party’s pledged and superdelegate leader – but that status does not appear to have helped him in West Virginia, where Clinton leads by 30-40 points in recent state polls.

“So I’m here today because I know what’s really going to matter tomorrow,” said Clinton. “It’s the votes of the people of West Virginia and if you will come out and honor me with your vote I will work my heart out for you.

Clinton criticized the Democratic front-runner on his health care proposal, and his rejection of her proposed “gas tax holiday.”

“My opponent Sen. Obama says, “Oh no, that’s just a gimmick, that’s not going to help people,” said Clinton before again arguing that it will save families $70 on average and more for those with longer commutes as well as truckers.

Clinton added that West Virginia proportionately has more veterans, “more people who have served in the conflicts and in the armed forces of the United States….

“It is the hard-working, dedicated people of West Virginia who have really made America what it has been, and what it will be again.”

I do believe they are hard working people and I can only hope they are nothing like Hillary. She used the people of West Virginia to make her racist remarks.

When has Obama said anything bad about "a Clinton"...and what makes the Clintons above criticism, anyway? They are not gods, they do not hold an entitlement to the White House.

Obama has made some mistakes, but bashing Hillary has not been one of them. In fact, I think he has been incredibly fair when it comes to her.

This is pitiful. She never was and never will have the stature of a JFK. I cannot believe her gall to use the Kennedy name, when, with the exception of Kathleen Townsend, she has not one Kennedy supporting. I also noticed how she again pandered to the vote in W. Virginia by saying "sumpin", instead of something. Sahme on you Hillary Clinton!

Let's see – more pandering. And guess what – there are more states that vote than West Vriginia. Keep going HRC. I'm all for every American having their vote count. But no one's vote is more important than another's. And quit using the code language in states where you know full well will fall into the category you want. I don't recall you using "hard-working" "dedicated" "Americans" and all the other code words for "white" when you were campaigining in states that don't have predominatly Anglo populations. Come on, do you really think the electorate is that stupid? At this end of this primary election season HRC will have proven a few things: 1) she is indeed power hungry 2) she matters more than the american people 3) that she and Bill will do ANYTHING, yes anything to get back in the white house 4) she has no honor, no integrity and is no leader 5) divisiveness is her forte 6) she left the process worse than when she started. Every stop along the road, she has discounted every one and everything that did not matter in her plan – caucus voters, small states, blacks, educated people – all "hard-working Americans" in my book. Give it up, HRC. Obama is the beginning of the change this country needs, not wants, but NEEDS!

Hasn't she said that for almost every single state she has gone into? One by one, the things that used to matter to her suddenly don't, and then its, "O wiat! This is what REALLY matters! This is what you REALLY need to win the nomination!"

Now I'm an Obama supporter, but I respect Clinton, despite the entire insanity of this season, but don't you think enough is enough? Don't you think the bigger threat of the GOP and John McCain trump your ambitions Mrs. Clinton?

  9. for the good of the democratic party

This lady needs to be sedated. How can she blurt out that "you can't become president without west virginia"?? How do dumb people fall for this meaningly pandoring?? Billary is clearly just saying to voters "any state that I win or will win is crucial to the presidency". So by inferring, you can easily allege that Hillary does value or care for the states and by extension the voters in states you loses or isn't planning on winning. Honestly, who can say with a straight face that they are buying Billary's arguments?? She leaves a bad taste in the mind of Obama supporters. One other note: a warning to Obama and the campaign. YOU SAID THAT YOUR CAMPAIGN IS OUR CAMPAIGN AND WE SUPPORTED YOU. WE DONATED HARD EARNED MONEY TO YOUR CAMPAIGN. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN USE THAT MONEY TO BAIL OUT HILLARY AND YOUR SINKING SHIP, YOU GOT ANOTHER THING COMING. obama supporters never gave the okay for obama to throw that money away so clinton still has $109 million once her campaign is over. She wasted money and she should pay the price.

Biggest waste of a primary election ever... Obama can't beat McCain. They think come November the only people voting will be Obama supporters.. How soon they forget Kerry lost in 2004 against Bush. How after all the negative press going on with the war, economy, etc? Cause there are others out there Koolaid drinkers! Come November, you'll have Republicans, Independents, and.. Hillary supporters voting against Nobama. Experience will prevail over empty rhetoric. The racism in this country will show because some people won't vote for him SIMPLY because he is African American. It's not, it's wrong, but are you blind to how our country is? So let me congratulate you on choosing the loser in November... I thought this was about who could win the Presidency in November, not just the Democratic nominee.. Silly Nobamaers...

    Hillary or McCain 08! NOBAMA!

It was the Chicago mafia that gave Kennedy the elction. How is Huma Abedin? West Virginia smell like tuna, and a copper penny. Clean up your mess hillary, both personally and politically. Give Bill a couple of lines and tell him to chill, and cruise the honeys. You can't, you are commited to Huma.

The only parallel, is that both Clinton and Kennedy had a pulse. beyond that, nothing is similar.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – Governor Manchin is taking offense to an upcoming film that uses negative stereotypes of West Virginians.

The horror thriller "Shelter" is recruiting extras with unusual physical features for a scene in a West Virginia "holler."

The casting call says the film is looking for extras who are extraordinarily tall or short, those with unusual body shapes and unusual facial features, and even people with physical abnormalities.

Hillary has been bashed and beaten up and bloodied mercilessly.

People filled with hate, often do that to those who are better than they are. Some sick way to elevate themselves by savaging others.

The beautiful, intelligent, gracious woman is still standing.

    God bless her.

We admire Hillary more and more every day. Standing against the forces of Goliath.
