West Virginia Gov. not ready to call race for Obama

CNN

Watch Gov. Manchin’s interview Monday.

(CNN)— West Virgina’s Governor Joe Manchin echoed the sentiment of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton Monday saying his state is not ready to call the race for Barack Obama until every state has had its chance to vote.

“I see the numbers the same as you see them,” Manchin told American Morning anchor John Roberts. “It looks like [Obama] has done quite well, but it’s not over until it’s over. We’re going to enjoy this primary tomorrow, and I’m sure other states will enjoy theirs.”

Voters in West Virgina head to the polls in less than 24 hours, with 28 pledged delegates at stake.

Clinton, who has a significant lead in West Virginia polls, has spent three out of the past five days campaigning there.

Obama is scheduled to campaign there Monday, but plans to head to Missouri - an important general election swing state for Democrats – on Tuesday, another sign his campaign has begun looking past the primary battle.

Gov. Manchin - who is chairman of the Democratic Governor’s Association and one of six uncommitted superdelegate governors - said if Obama is the party’s nominee, he will work to help the Illinois senator win his state in the fall.

Hillary is not getting votes becuase she is the best candidate. No one really believes that Hillary can do a better job than Edwards, let alone Obama.

Most People are voting for Hillary because:
    1. they can NEVER vote for a Black man; they still believe that Black people are "inferior."

    2. they want to see a "woman" serve as president, even when that "woman" has poor judgement, has divisive character, is dishonest and so on.

Every day, I look at myself in the mirror and ask: How will God, in his infinite wisdom, allow Black people and White people to enter the gates of Heaven? May be "death" is the answer to my question– the "skin/body" does not really matter; it is all DUST and to dust it will return!!! Thank you Lord for the insight!!!

suzy (you typed in all caps) . . . are you serious? Obama visited WV before PA voted. He is in WV today. You ask, "What more do you want?" How about integrity, honesty, a first family to be proud of and not ashamed of, a president who will not look at the American people in the eye (maybe even wag a finger) and lie and then blame lack of ethics . . . I mean sleep.

Hillary should not drop out. All the remaining states who have not broken the DNC rules should vote and have their delegates seated at the Convention. Obama will be the Democratic Nominee. Let's rally to the Democratic Party and make sure the Republicans don't have the power to continue to ruin this country.

WE Clinton's supporters do not care about your rationale or your hate which are the same thing by the way. We care about facts which is something Obama has not presented by the way just copied Hillary's programs and proposals.

The reality is that HIllary's supporters will not vote for Obama in the general election in big number and we have the right to decide whether we think McCain is better for our country that Obama. McCain by the way does have a record to prove he has worked with the Democeratic Party during many years which is something Obama has not.

ABAJO OBAMA! OBAMA GO BACK TO CHICAGO WITH MICHELLE AND YOUR FAMILY and start real work for your community

precious...remember not voting is letting some one make a decision for you. Not voting means you have given up your right to say anything about the next administration.

Look all of this is just practical behavior by a govenor who's state will vote heavily for Clinton tomorrow. It's her base, poor, uneducated, blue collar white voters (from her lips to my ears). But it's really all smoke and mirrors.

I've stopped listening to anything her or her handlers have to say. Once this is all over with, I'd highly recommend that they all apply for writers positions with the SciFi channel.

Clinton supporters are drinking too much Kool-Aid. However, with limited money there will be no more Kool-Aid, therefore we will have lots of Junkies running around.

I hope McCain can afford to give them new Kool-Aid. Or they can come to Obama's Rehab Center.

Obama will bring change to Washington. No more Kool-Aid. CHANGE

If Obama gets nominated my husband and I and several friends will vote for McCain. He has the experience even though we have been against Bush for 8 years, McCain will be better able to lead this country.

Obama will NOT get my vote ~ not even if he manages to convince Hillary to run for VP. I have been a democrat since JFK but I will vote a straight republican ticket if Obama is nominated. I cannot, in good conscience vote for him. He does not have a clue about being president and I think he's more of a demagogue than Bush – he will listen to no one. I don't believe McCain is Bush term 3 and I feel much more comfortable with him than I do Obama. Of course, if the democrats wise up and run Hillary – WE ARE SAVED!!!!

GO HILLARY GO ~ RISE HILLARY RISE ~ FLY HILLARY FLY

First, you are probably not that old to have voted for JFK. Second, you said that Obama will listen to no one like Bush.

This is the funny thing about Clinton supporters, the reasons that you give for not voting for Obama are reasons that are actually ones that apply ot Hillary.: I don't trust him (Bosina, gas tax scam, etc); He will not listen to anyone if he's president (230 economist that said that the gas tax is a horrible idea). Please give me an example of what makes yuou think Obama wll be a demagogue?

This is one Hillary supporter that will no longer vote Democrat if Obama is the nominee . . . I've had it . . . sitting back and observing how she's been treated throughout this whole thing has turned me sour against the Democratic party . . . she should have won a long time ago . . . she got screwed . . . purposely.

Who cares! Hillary has already told us that her " White Hard Working" (*wink wink*) constituency will not support Barack. We all got the message last week and the polls truely indicate that there are some who still blinded by the color of someone's skin.

    It's 2008 people. Let's move on!

    Your comment is awaiting moderation.
It sickens me to read all the comments from narrow minded, igonorant, smug people that stereotype West Virginians as backward, uneducated, racist people. Just because we don't want your candidate that makes us ignorant racists? Well, I've got news for you…racism exist everywhere, I will even bet that you have some predjustics yourself because everyone does. Most of you are hypocrites.

Don't tell be about racism when over 90% of blacks in not just a few states…But all states, are voting for Obama. If you don't see this as a slap in the white man's face….THEN YOU ARE THE IGNORANT PERSON!

Has it ever occured to you that maybe some of us West Virginians are voting for Clinton because of our overall satisfaction with the Clinton Administration of the 90's? You fool yourself when you believe that going forward is always the smart thing to do….sometimes we get off track and the smart thing is to go back.

Maybe we prefer Clinton over a STRANGER that we know very little about….and essentially that's what Obama is…I mean, let's be honest, how many of us even heard of him until recently? You Obama supporters magnify every mistake Hillary may make but EXCUSE everything about Obama. You can't honestly think that he listened to his pastor for 20 years and he had no idea that his pastor was an angry bitter person who hated whites.

And lastly, what are you intelligent, smug people from your 'SUPERIOR STATES' so proud of….your higher crime rates?

One thing that annoys me is that the media is all over Hillary saying that she should not of made the remarks she did the other night about the white vote etc.., If you listen clearly to what she was saying, she actually was referring to a ap poll that was done. No where in the interview did she come up with this herself. Listen clearly people, and stop pointing the finger when you clearly dont know the facts. The media is great at spinning everthing. Obama and his followers are the ones playing the race card.

DON'T YOU OBAMA SUPPORTERS BLAME HILARY IF AND WHEN OBAMA LOSES IN NOVEMBER.

HE IS UNELECTABLE. THE DNC HAD BEEN WARNED. HE HAD NOT WON THE CRITICAL SWING STATES NOR THE DEM BASE STATES OF CALIFORNIA, NJ, MA.

SO DON'T PUT HIS IMPENDING LOSE TO HILARY. SHE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO CONTINUE HER CAMPAIGN. WHAT HE BRINGS TO THE TABLE IS ANOTHER STORY. HOW HE WILL GET SCRUTINIZED FOR A CHANGE IS OUT OF ANYBODY'S HANDS.
    IT'S ALL ON HIM.

Obama is an oportunist who saw a chance to divide the base of the democratic party and took it.
Hi is a man w/o any experience to his name, a racist minister who inspired him to write a book and prayed with him ...hmmm for 20 years. BO maninpulated us all with the phony race speech that only worked on the press and then by working w Wright to cook up a "spectacle" at the National Press Club so BO would be (so sadly and watch me manipulate you dumb white Americans) could have and excuse to flip off Rev. Wright.
OB has the principles of slime.. and enjoys manipulating us silly voters.
Don't vote for the Grand Manipulator and Great Divider.

The question is not that Obama cant win, because he has already won the nomination. The question should be, Can he win in November? The best prediction for the future is the current even. If Hillary could not win her own party, how does she win the general elections?
    Think people!
