McAuliffe says Clinton staying in, will win popular vote

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="McAuliffe said Clinton is in the race through June 3."]
(CNN) - Despite calls from some for Hillary Clinton to abandon her presidential bid, her campaign chairman insisted Monday she will stay in the race until the last primary and predicted the New York Democrat will overtake Barack Obama in the popular vote.

“We are going through to June 3," Clinton Campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe said on MSNBC Monday. "I can unequivocally tell you we are in until June 3.”

“We will move ahead in the popular vote. There are 1.1 million Democrats in West Virginia, there are 1.6 million in Kentucky, 2.4 million in Puerto Rico. We win by these huge margins, have good turnout there, we will pick up a significant amount of the popular vote."

Polls show Clinton will likely score big wins in the next two primary states, West Virginia and Kentucky, though it remains virtually impossible for the New York senator to catch Obama in the pledged delegate count. She lost her lead among the party’s superdelegates on Monday.

Montana and South Dakota hold the last two primary contests on June 3.

What will you do with the popular vote then. This is not general elections if that is the reason why you are loosing the primary!

WITH OR WITHOUT FL & MI? Your campaign flip flops so much its hard to tell anymore. If you are going to be so hypocritical and include those (where obama wasnt even on the ballot in MI) then you might as well include the caucus states where you can only estimate.

i find it Hillarious that when everyone else was comparing Obama to JFK
Hillary compares herself to Rocky. Now she says she's like Obama. I thought she said he was unelectable. I thought identity theft was illegal.

Ask Gore what he thinks about the popular vote... doesn't mean anything. If I recall this contest is based on delegates. If the popular vote mattered, there would be no super delegates.

Hillary, you are teaching my children nothing except how to be whiny brats to get their way. I expect more, a whole lot more from my presadential candidate.

Next you'll be asking for primaries in Canada.

Go Home. You lost. Even my kids are laughing at you.

This guy is a piece of work. If Hillary actually does steal the nomination then African Americans and Obama supporters should revolt. Start rioting in the streets and succeed from the union until Hillary's term is finally over.

I'd rather die than to live under her presidency.

Is this nomination contest about popular votes or pledged delegates?

Hillary used to brag about wining the electoral votes. now popular votes? which one is it?!

Hillarious – you do have math problem!!!!

Terry McAuliffe reminds me of the back stabbing friend in "Ghost" that does in Patrick Swayze.

The Obama's don't want her on the ticket with this guy behind the scene. That's what you call the white house from the back door.

Unlikely that she will catch up in the popular vote.... unless of course she asks for the rules to be broken again and MI and FL be counted.

But of course the popular vote, IF Hillary wins it. Does not decide the winner of the primary. Unless of course Hillary finds a way to lie, cheat and steal this election. She is obviously willing to do this or she would not be spending herself even further in debt on her poorly managed campaign.

This guy is a clown. Instead of whining, he should be setting up a debate with Pastor Hagee and Catholic scholars in order to find out why Hagee is a bigot and false prophet.

“My opponent Sen. Obama says, “Oh no, that’s just a gimmick, that’s not going to help people,” said Clinton before again arguing that it will save families $70 on average and more for those with longer commutes as well as truckers.

not once have i heard her mention the 300,000 construction workers that she would be putting out of a job.

Obama's plan is much more sympathetic to people who can't afford to lose their jobs.

Congrats to Obama. Oh wait, I forgot he's not republican. So why does it matter that he won all of these pledged delegates from RED states?

Clueless party running a terrible primary. The only way Obama wins a primary is by following the Democratic nomination process. Republican or General Election vote and he loses handily.
