McAuliffe says Clinton staying in, will win popular vote

McAuliffe said Clinton is in the race through June 3.

McAuliffe said Clinton is in the race through June 3.

(CNN) - Despite calls from some for Hillary Clinton to abandon her presidential bid, her campaign chairman insisted Monday she will stay in the race until the last primary and predicted the New York Democrat will overtake Barack Obama in the popular vote.

“We are going through to June 3," Clinton Campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe said on MSNBC Monday. "I can unequivocally tell you we are in until June 3.”

“We will move ahead in the popular vote. There are 1.1 million Democrats in West Virginia, there are 1.6 million in Kentucky, 2.4 million in Puerto Rico. We win by these huge margins, have good turnout there, we will pick up a significant amount of the popular vote."

Polls show Clinton will likely score big wins in the next two primary states, West Virginia and Kentucky, though it remains virtually impossible for the New York senator to catch Obama in the pledged delegate count. She lost her lead among the party’s superdelegates on Monday.

Montana and South Dakota hold the last two primary contests on June 3.

I thought the popular vote didn't matter – oh yeah, it's about the delegates, wait those don't matter either because it's about the super delegates, no, that's right, we have count like she counts..............OMG GET OUT!

Dream on Hillary, dream on...maybe soon you will regret standing up for your hillbilly, womanizing husband who should never have been in the White House in the first place....by the way, tell your kid that ANYTHING that happens in the White House IS OUR BUSINESS, even Bill getting his under the desk in the Oval Office...yes, even that.

West Virginia, welcome back to the old south! Let us welcome the democrats who hate the idea of a mix race nation. I thought all those they call biggits had left the democratic party. If you won't vote for Obama because of those "feelings", join the republicans.

Hillary will win W. VIRGINIA by about a 30% margin. she and those in her camp will make a big deal about. the reality is, that the momentum is fully in obama's favour, having negated a 100 plus super delegate lead in such a short time.OBAMA is charging down the stretch, while hillary sucks wind, pulls up and is vanned off.

Words, words matter...I have a dream, words, words matter.

Words, words matter..."This is the first time I've felt proud of my counntry."

Words, words matter..."The Chickens Coming Home to Roost".

Words, words matter..."Bitter people clinging to guns and religion".

Words, words matter..."I couldn't disown Reverend Wright, nor could I disown my white grandmother".

Words, words matter..."Reverend Wright is out of my life".

Words, words matter. Don't tell me words don't matter!

Just to add to my previous comments...

The popular vote does not include caucuses, as they don't release those numbers, and as we all know Obama has dominated the caucus formats this year... of course, Billary and her campaign would rather not include/have you know that information.

hey WiserNow, do you and your 'friends' wear white hoods? Obama's policies are virtually the same as Hillary's. Any Democrat who votes for McCain is likely a racist

Doesn't matter whether she's leading in votes. The winner is the one who acquires the most delegates, and you can't change the rules in the middle of the game.

Hey, Captain of the Titantic–it's over. Let's see should I arrange the deck chairs this way, or that way?

Wow–how is she going lead the country if she doesn't know she LOST. No wonder she voted for the war.

Win the popular vote based Florida and Michigan somehow being valid.

We're back to that fuzzy math where the victor is decided by hypothetical circumstances. That's the President I want!

All of you Clintonista's who say that you'll vote for McCain instead? What comes around goes around, hope she not planning on running in 2012!

Hillary will win @ the convention in August. Many Obamaphiles need to research the 1980 Democratic Primary in which Ted Kennedy tried to steal the nomination from Carter. McCain will handicap Obama by August, and so long as she's in, Hillary, Whitehouse, January 2009. Obama will lose on his own.

With a campaign chairman like that it's no wonder Hellary doesn't get it. When you are surrounded by fools, the only thing left is to be a fool.
Get out, Hill, before you lose all dignity.

Can someone, anyone PLEASE just tell us five things that Senator *Clinton* has done for either her state or our country?

    Two things?

Thought so as well. (In reference to the first post)

About 2 months ago when Obama went on a streak to win 7+ in a row Hillary Clinton said that it is the delegates that count not the popular vote.

Last year Hillary Clinton agreed explicitly that Michigan and Florida will not count. Now they do?

Is this more of the same flip flopping that we have been use to over the last 8 years?

Go Hillary!!! I love how people find things wrong with whatever she does. If she wins it's wrong...if she loses she's wrong...She can't win...if she's strong, she's wrong....if she shows emotions, she is weak. Someday......women will all thank Hillary for breaking myths about women in power....women will thank her for not quitting, all will learn about misogyny....all will thank her. She is a heroine of our time!!

  22. FROM THE PINK ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM...

If Hillary has so many loyal supporters that are willing to sacrifice the Democratic party and vote for McCain, then why aren't they supporting her financially??? I don't get it! Obama's supporters are obviously doing this in droves. I see it and I'm sure the superdelegates see it too.

If you are such a staunch Hillary supporter, get off the blogs, open your wallet and support your candidate. A far as I'm concerned, until you do that, your "words" here or anywhere else are meaningless.

This makes me more convinced that the majority of the people on here talking up Hillary are McCain supporters in disguise.

  25. Yeah Right!

You all can win the majority vote so what? Steal the election? The name of the game is delegates you losers. Clinton will destroy this party and will never win or achieve her goal. If she goes independent then kiss ever coming back to democrats and become true to yourself like liebermann. and if you stay you cannot cannot cannot win without the base of the democratic party.

Your lust for power will drown you Hillary and make a good movie. And didn't you get the memo? Hillary will never be President again ever, its over not without the base and she just lost them big time.
