Hart: Bush is 'incredibly hypocritical'

Gary Hart strongly defended Barack Obama, calling Bush's remarks hypocritical.

Gary Hart strongly defended Barack Obama, calling Bush's remarks hypocritical.

(CNN) - Former senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart became the latest Democratic elder to denounce President Bush’s remarks from Israel on Thursday, calling the president’s speech "incredibly hypocritical."

"We all know that the administration has had contact with and is advocating contact with Hamas and other organizations,” Hart told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Late Edition. "So it was incredibly hypocritical."

While speaking to the Israeli parliament at a celebration of Israel’s 60th Anniversary, President Bush said: “Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before.”

Many Democrats took these comments to be a veiled attack on Barack Obama’s foreign policy. Former presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, called the president’s comments “bulls**t“ and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said his actions were “beneath the dignity of the office of president.”

Obama responded to Bush’s comments on Friday by saying that they were “the kind of appalling attack that's divided our country and that alienates us from the world.”

Hart, who supports the Illinois senator, strongly defended Obama by comparing his position to that of some well-respected figures in American history.

“Keep in mind that as early as John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, they negotiated with the al Qaeda of their day, the Barbary pirates before finally attacking them,” Hart said.

Despite primarily focusing his attacks on the Bush administration, the former senator from Colorado linked Bush’s comments to presumptive Republican nominee John McCain.

“John McCain's already attacked Barack Obama as saying he's the candidate from Hamas. And so I think this was all part of the McCain campaign.”

I don't know what party talk to Hamas.......but look who met with Hamas leader in last month and who said that if get elect for President and willing to sit down with Iran and Cuba leader I think those two is Carter and Obama right? So, I think Democratic party have to choose the right
nominee and the one have more experience to turn American back if their
don't want to make same mistake like last time.

American people voted Bush adminstration for two terms.

Nixon went to China and met with Communist China leader.
Nixon asked him if they can help secure the situation in Vietnam.
China leader said they can't interfere with the situation in Vietnam. But he also said that the best way to end the war is just to "withdraw".
And who couldn't give the same advice?

Talking to the right person matters.

Our Hypocrite in Chief had to be well coached to memorize any part of history. You can bet he didn't know anything about WWII until he re-read 50 times the speach written for him.

If Obama wanted to cozy up to a fascist, he would cozy up to Bush. It was Bush's own grandfather who did big business with the Nazi's until the US government stopped him in 1942.

So, some on this blog attack Hart insted of addressing the issue. That's the Republican way. Hart is correct!

Obama has a vision for this country that is original. That is, treat other countries with respect. By doing so the USA will regain the respect it has lost over the last 8 years. McCain also has a vision for this country. It is two-fold. First is to switch his position on virtually every position he held before. Second is to extend the policies of the Bush/Cheney administration which has been the most immoral and criminal administration in the history of this country!

Bush said, "my policies haven't changed." No, duh, Sherlock!! That's why we're in this mess!!!! Bush is, and it's sad to say it, a complete IDIOT!!! I've heard that definition of insanity is to do the same thing and expect a different result. He has consistently done the same thing and for some unknown reason, seems to expect a different result. I don't understand this guy. And McOldGuy is jumping on his bandwagon???? It is shameful and needs to be one of the Democratic talking points leading up to the race in November. McCain is old and senile. Let's get a fresh face and fresh political outlook in the White House.

Let's stop the BS. Hillary does not have the majority of votes as she claims and her supporters do. FL & MI did not count because it was the Clinton majority supporters on the Democratic Rules and Bylawas committe who rules that they should not. After it became aparant on Super Tuesday that OBAMA caused a HUGE upset, she began to talk about this Big STATE, white voters BS. Hillary Clinton will never be President because she has so damaged her credibility among BLACK Voters, OBAMA has proved that it is black voters who allow the Dems to pick up three Republican seats this year. OBAMA will secure the majority of Democratic voters, Independents, 15-20 % Republicans and a ground swell of Black voter turn out unheard of in American Politics. The "Blue Color" voters code name "racist democrats" that Hillary talk about belittles people intelligence that they are the voters who voted to continue Segregation etc, let the truth be told. The Democratic Party was not the choice of Black American's if it were not for JFK, they would still be voting Republican. Hillary campaign has shown for all the Racist within our Party, that is good for the world to see, that NOT MUCH have change in states like WV, KY and TN.
Flag pin is a code for racist who don't even stand during the playing of the Nation Anthem, who refused to put their hands over their heart etc. Wearing a Flag pin is a false sense of Patriotism, it is BS. Why did it take 9-11 to force the President to wear one, get my point, it is BS! I am a SOLDIER and wearing the flag pin is BS. A patriot is one who believes in the dieals of the constitution, the right for all citizens to live as one regardless of race, sex, religion etc. Those who infuse fear, hate and bigotry and use the 2nd and 1st Amendment are in effect distroying the union. It will do more Americans a bit of justice to read the Constitution. OBAMA will have a Town Hall meeting to educate Americans on the Founding Principle of our Nation and the Constitution, it would help if all Americans would get a pocket copy of the constitution and see what is required of their Governments. Tell McCain, Bush and Hillary to read it once and read it often. The will and voice of the people will not be silenced, this is the CHANGE REVOLUTION, RED, WHITE AND BLUE, HOPING FOR A MORE PERFECT UNION, NOVEMBER 2008 OBAMA- HAGEL

This is a fact that all of Hillary supporters who said they will vote for McCain should listen to and read. McCain has been claiming that he did not talk about negotiating with Hamas. Now this former Senator has revealed the truth. McCain wants to continue Bush's lies and policies of leadership. One thing I have to say is that whoever vote for McCain is signing the death warrants of soldiers and helping drown the economy in the depth of an unrecoverable ocean.

gusting, i do think john mc cain is too old for the job,but respect his right to try to do it . i think all democrats should switch off when hannity comes on the screen ,he is the worst of the lot ,he is probably trying for a political job , or is told to spout his rubbish by his boss, fox is trying to controll the election ,their job is to report , boycott them, democrats, at least hannity .let the candidates battle it out themselves ,media just report.

Gary Hart....party elder, just like Ted Kennedy, Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi and a few others. Old has-beens. The fact that they are supporting Obama tells me they are horribly lacking in good judgment.

Obama will be the Democrats' next George McGovern or Dukakis..... and with good reason. He's a flawed candidate. Even Hamas likes him.

It is a pleasure each day to read the stupidity people can come up with in tainting the name of the "Honorable George W. Bush" President of this great nation.
It reminds me of the need of a new education system, one that works like the one I started attending in the first grade 75 years ago.
Those writing that sort of trash are nothing more than poor lost souls wandering aimlessly in search of a cogent thought.
