Dole to McClellan: You're a 'miserable creature'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/05/30/art.dole.gi.jpg caption="Dole is not happy with McClellan."]

(CNN) - Bob Dole is furious with Scott McClellan's public criticisms of the Bush administration, telling the former White House Press Secretary in an e-mail Thursday he is a "miserable creature" who is "spurred on by greed."

"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don’t have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in the personal e-mail. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."

Dole spokesman Michael Marshall confirmed the authenticity of the e-mail, first reported by Politico and obtained by CNN.

Dole, the former Senate Majority Leader and 1996 Republican presidential nominee, also tells McClellan he is likely looking to "clean up" as "the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm."

"When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, 'Biting The Hand That Fed Me,'" he wrote. "Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years."

Dole also made clear he has no plans to read the book.

"I have no intention of reading your 'exposé' because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man, or quit your cushy, high profile job," he wrote. "That would have taken integrity and courage but then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively."

"You're a hot ticket now but don't you, deep down, feel like a total ingrate?"

Blinded American People you need to be delivered.

The question you should ask yourselves is

Are the facts stated in Scott's book accurate? Nobody seems to pay attention to that.

Truth is always truth. Whether told earlier or later.

    Wake up American people.

Mr McDlellan served at the pleasure of the president. He had no choice what to say when talking to the press. Now he serves himself, Maybe some of the people still serving at the pleasure of the president are just upset that he wrote the book they all wanted to start next January.

This is exactly why I will never vote Republican. If you aren't a "tool" for the party, then they rip you apart.

I wish more people were like Mr. McClellan, maybe we wouldn't be in the mess we are in. The "Bushies" first loyalty should have been to the American people, not the Bush admin.

I just can't see how McCain and the Republicans can win the white house in 08. In my opinion, they don't deserve it after what they did over the past seven years.

It sounds like Scott has some truth to what he wrote in his book. Bob Dole's reaction just confirms it.

Dole is just much as an IDIOT as Bush and McCain are. I'm just upset that McClellan waited to speak about this administration intil his book went on sale. I watched McClellan many times giving a press story, and I knew then that he was covering up for the Bush administration. I can smell a LIE a mile away. I hope that congress will read his book and go after the GUILTY parties who deceived American with LIES. Time to really enforce congressional subpoenas against Karl Rove, Libby. Harriet Miers, Cheney, Bush and Tenet. McCain is such a flip flopper that he makes John Kerry look like the pope. Why doesn't CNN play back the interview tapes that they have on McCain from two years ago which now he is denying these stories? This comment will probably not get posted. Tell me CNN why???????

Bob Dole can rant and rave, but why didn't Colin Powell walk out on the administration after he was taken advantage of during his UN address leading up to the Iraq war?

In 1945, in combat in Italy, U.S. Army Captain Bob Dole had the courage to take a stand, and he suffered permanent disability as a result. In 2008, in an e-mail to Scott McClellan, retiree Bob Dole showed that same courage to take a stand.

We should have more politicians - more citizens - like Bob Dole.

  14. Obama is the One

Since when did we start caring what Bob Dole thought again???

Republicans are a disastrous cancer on our country... malignant in the speech and policies. Thank God McClellan spoke out against this wicked administration and told the truth about the utter manipulation of Americans and the peoples of the world. This administration has cost us so many thousands of lives... so many thousands of innocent lives.

And, one life is enough to have great cause for looking down upon ANYONE, including the President. This admnistration represents death. As kthe families of dead soldiers!

Right on point! Leave it to Bob Dole to set the matter straight . McClellan is a gutless opportunist. And the liberal left media will continue to rock on. Can't wait to see the coward working in Obama's camp.

  18. Barack takes in another Judas

Barack Hussein is accumulating Judas's at a record pace-–why does Barack Hussein not think people like McClellan and Richardson will not stab him in the back at some point--after all if you saw someone with a resume that said "accomplished back stabber", would you hire them?

This is the man who said he didn't didn't know if nicotine in cigarettes was addictive.

It is incredible that Bob Dole should be talking about someones lack of credibility.

Dole is the one who is a miserable creature. How dare he call someone out of their name. Just because he was bold enough to come out with the truth. A lot more will be uncover in the White House.

As I stated on another post, if McClellan is lying, such a miserable little creature, why don't Bush and his cronies file a lawsuit. I'm sure Mr. McClellan has documented proof, or else he would not have put himself out on a limb like that.

  25. Mike

I don't trust this McClellan guy and yes he should have stood up when things were tough BEFORE thousands of people died in Iraq. HOWEVER, what he said has been shown through reality and many other sources to be at the very least partially true so lets focus on the truth here!

What do you expect republicans and Bush to say...Scott is right? Of course they're going to plead innocence even though every sane person can see the result of the many many WMDs that we found in Iraq. Yes...do you remember those WMDs we went to war and your son, daughter, uncle, auntie, cousin died for???
