Dole to McClellan: You're a 'miserable creature'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/05/30/art.dole.gi.jpg caption="Dole is not happy with McClellan."]

(CNN) - Bob Dole is furious with Scott McClellan's public criticisms of the Bush administration, telling the former White House Press Secretary in an e-mail Thursday he is a "miserable creature" who is "spurred on by greed."

"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don’t have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in the personal e-mail. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."

Dole spokesman Michael Marshall confirmed the authenticity of the e-mail, first reported by Politico and obtained by CNN.

Dole, the former Senate Majority Leader and 1996 Republican presidential nominee, also tells McClellan he is likely looking to "clean up" as "the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm."

"When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, 'Biting The Hand That Fed Me,'" he wrote. "Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years."

Dole also made clear he has no plans to read the book.

"I have no intention of reading your 'exposé' because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man, or quit your cushy, high profile job," he wrote. "That would have taken integrity and courage but then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively."

"You're a hot ticket now but don't you, deep down, feel like a total ingrate?"

Bob Dole is a racist has been. Military service does not qualify you for anything other than military service and his was so long ago he already forgot about it. He is a loser and a dinosaur who should sit down and become extinct. There is a new world order and old white men like Dole are NOT part of it.

Gee here's a good example. You have a friend who you have known for some years and you think he is a good guy...

Then you find out he is a serial rapist and murdered. So when you disown him, does that mean you are an ingrate...what in the devil is wrong with these republicans. They can't stand for anyone to tell the truth about bush. Sorta Kinda sounds like the bunch that support obama.

I have to agree with Mr. Dole. This sleaze bag stayed right in the thick of things, admits he knew there were lies and deception, and did nothing but collect a nice paycheck. Now he wants to plays the poor dupe who wants the truth to be told. Why didn't you speak out then? Why didn't you resign and tell the country the truth at the time, BEFORE it was too late. Because....

there's no money to be made from being a stand-up guy with principles and a back bone. If you really cared Mr. McClellen, this book wouldn't be necessary. We would already know the truth because you had the chance to tell us 5 years ago. You should be ashamed!!!!!!

Talk about someone who revels in the publicity–a guy who has been a non-factor for a decade. And notice that almost none of the Republicans issuing these scathing indictments of McClellan address the actual issues he raised, only that he was some sort of "rat", "squealer", or other child-like retort.

Boo-hoo, someone saw the Emperor Bush's undies and blabbed. Republicans should be barred from higher office for the next two decades as punishment for all the destruction they have wrought on the American economy, our troops, our morale, and our reputation in the world.

Clearly the Bush Brainwashing didn't take effect on McClellan. Thank you McClellan for reaffirming what we all knew was happening in the White House – LIES, DECEPCEPTION, MANIPULATION.

  9. NO Obama

Five years from now, Scott will have similar belated concerns over the demagogue, Obama, that he currently is enthralled with.

Scott was wrong on Bush, and he is wrong now about Obama.

Scott obviously can not judge the true character of a candidate.

Write in Hill for a Nov win.

If anyone would know what it is to be a "miserable creature" in politics, it would be Bob Dole. He's the role model. There has been no more vicious hatchett man in the Republican Party over the years.

Is this surprising to anyone? "Kill the messenger" in action is what Dole's message amounts to! He knows McCllelan could not have spoken up and been heard. Anybody with a half a brain knows that. If there is one thing we have all understood about the Bush Administration it is this: They didn't tolerate dissent or disagreement. Look at what happened to Valerie Plame.

No I don't think he a miserable creature. He's not that old yet. But one things for sure...He must have struck a nerve because he has all the Bush supporters/republicans foaming at the mouth, pacing around his every move - wating...ready to eat his soul.

Dole, just try to keep your balance before you start in on someone else.

If McClellan had spoken to his superiors about this sooner, they would have found a way to discredit him so that if he ever did try to go public, nobody would believe him. Keeping this to himself and then springing it suddenly was his power move against much more powerful people.

PS – if you don't read the book, can you justifiably comment on its contents?

    Sock it to him!!

Dole is right. Why would someone who so vehemenently disagree with something go in from of the american people and perpetuate the "lie"? Doesn't that say something to his character?

This criticism is coming from a member of the party whose number one tactic is the smear. Isn't this a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

I have to agree with Dole and I am a democrat. When you work closely with high profile people some of the personal things that you are priviledged to over hear or see should remain confidential. These people deserve some privacy.. He can talk about the business and all of that but there should be a line drawn when it comes to selling a person's personal business. This should apply across the board for actors, CEO's, musicians, any high profile people who trust you with their families and invite you into their homes.

Here we go: The White House and Republican Noise Machine ramps up their attacks to discredit McClellan although every thoughtful American knows he is telling the truth and has known the truth for years. It is why we need to impeach Bush/Cheney and convict many of his administration for war crimes.

This whole McClellan episode is all politically driven. Obama uses the book it to attack McCain, then McClellan hints at supporting Obama. This tells you a lot about the Obama campaign. How they get someone to do this type of things is beyond us. They can deny anything. But smart people already know this type of coincidences happen too frequently. I guess that's what they mean by crossing the aisle and bring the parties together!

Do we have to wait 4 or 5 years for the Scott book on the Obama lies?

I will just not vote for Obama, like I did not vote for the lying Bush.

My judgement of true character is superior to the double-talking Scott who now supports the two-faced hypocrit, Obama.
