Carter to officially endorse Obama

(CNN) -
Former President Jimmy Carter, in a widely expected move, will endorse Barack Obama's presidential bid later Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Carter, a superdelegate who has frequently spoken favorably about Obama, told Britain’s Sky News last month that while he had not yet announced his decision publicly, after the last Democratic primary June 3, it would be time for Hillary Clinton to “give it up.”

He also said that Clinton “had a perfect right” to keep running – but that “a lot of the superdelegates will make a decision quite, announced quite rapidly, after the final primary on June 3."

The former president also told an interviewer last month that he believes Hillary Clinton would accept the vice presidential spot on the ticket, but that he did not believe such an offer would be made by Obama "because I don't see how it would help his ticket. I think he needs somebody like a [former Georgia Sen.] Sam Nunn, but I won't name others.”

Nunn, the former Georgia senator, is known for his foreign policy and national security expertise.

Have the Democrats considered the possibility of staying out of elections and letting the voters decide?

No bandwagon. No celebrity circus. No famous endorsements. No sabotage of the woman. No advantaging the Black man.

Just let the voters vote their own choice.

And what about following the rules and have the superdelegates decide on merit, the electability trend pattern- rather than simply boost the guy with a small lead over the top?

Why have the minimum required pledged delegates requirement- if the supers just jump in to bring the candidate to that number?

Supers should do their job and not simply follow who is ahead. Why have superdelegates at all then? Just go with who is AHEAD- even if he failed to meet the minimum required.

Sorry 'uninformed voter from Florida", the worst President of all time is the current President and his 22% approval rating.

Really? And Nixon was the best? Seriously? Carter wasn't the greatest, but history clearly shows he wasn't the worst.

    Informed Voter from Florida,

If you think Jimmy Carter is the worst President we ever had then boy do you have your head in somebody's posterior. George Dubya will go down as the worst public servant in the history of politics, make no mistake. JImmy Carter orchestrated what no other candidate since he left has been able to do, and that is orchestrate a peace treaty between Isreal and Egypt in a region now beset by violence, disorder and discourse. Man do your history before you blab (blog). Obviously being from Florida has left you un-informed.

Jimmy Carter is one of the greatest enviromentalist presidents we have ever had. I'd say the "informed voter from florida" is most likely an angry middleaged republican who just wanted a woman as president but does not actually follow policy.

Before the last 8 years, I might have been in agreement with the informed voter from florida's characterization of Mr. Carter. He isn't the worst anymore. I firmly believe that Senator Obama can repair a lot of the damage that has been done by my fellow republicans. He has my vote in November.
