Carter to officially endorse Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/03/art.carter.gi.jpg caption=" Jimmy Carter, a superdelegate, has endorsed Obama ."]

(CNN) -
Former President Jimmy Carter, in a widely expected move, will endorse Barack Obama's presidential bid later Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Carter, a superdelegate who has frequently spoken favorably about Obama, told Britain’s Sky News last month that while he had not yet announced his decision publicly, after the last Democratic primary June 3, it would be time for Hillary Clinton to “give it up.”

He also said that Clinton “had a perfect right” to keep running – but that “a lot of the superdelegates will make a decision quite, announced quite rapidly, after the final primary on June 3."

The former president also told an interviewer last month that he believes Hillary Clinton would accept the vice presidential spot on the ticket, but that he did not believe such an offer would be made by Obama "because I don't see how it would help his ticket. I think he needs somebody like a [former Georgia Sen.] Sam Nunn, but I won't name others.”

Nunn, the former Georgia senator, is known for his foreign policy and national security expertise.

At least he is better than Bush.

WHY DO I DOUBT THIS? i don't? HE HAD A MENTALLY CHALLENGED BROTHER SO I GUESS SOME OF IT is BEGINNING TO COME OUT IN HIM. He can get in line with KENNEDY and the questionable death of his Secretary KOPECKNE in the murky Icy River waters while he ran and hid like the coward he is. Then there is KERRY who threw all his Post Exchange medals into the river in protest of his service and the War in NAM. RICHARDSON who thinks Obama is going to help all the Illegals, Oh what a fool? DEAN, THREE TIME LOSER AND THEN THERE'S PELOSI WHO DID NOT WANT ANOTHER WOMAN MORE POWERFUL THAN HER NO GOOD REAR IN THE WHITE HOUSE. So yes Carter Endorse the soon to be in November a LOSER OBAMA. US HILLARY SUPPORTERS (NOW HEAR THIS HILLARY IF YOU DECIDE TO JOIN OBAMA IT WILL MAKE NO DIFFERENCE WE WILL NOT VOTE A TICKET WITH OBAMA'S NAME ON IT) HE IS JUST TOO DARN CORRUPT. So my advice to you Hillary if your want to come back later and take the White House DON'T FALL IN LINE OR SUPPORT OBAMA!!!

surely you jest, informed voter from florida.
Maybe you were referring to PAST Presidents, otherwise surely you'd have said the current President is the worst. I think that's one of the universal truths, isnt it? It's dark at night, water is wet, Bush is a wanker

I'm not sure what "Informed voter from florida" is talking about. Bush hasn't endorses Obama. Perhaps they are not so informed.

Wrong! Bush take the top position as worst.

(but 2nd, third and fourth positions as still open for anyone in the future.)

Im not sure if obama is the solution to our economy, government. But considering the other two candidates, Hillary or Mccain, i will take a chance on Obama. I think Carter is speaking out now in support of Obama to sort of push the remaining super delegates to commit their votes. What are they waiting for anyway? Please end this madness.

Informed voter from FL, no, you are wrong. Harry S. Truman was the worst president we've ever had(21% approval) seconded by Bush (28%). Thank you, Jimmy for coming out of the super-delegate closet, we knew you were back there somewhere among the pant-suits and blazers. Now can we wrap this thing, and finish John McCain?

  12. Clinton Trying to Pull Everyone Down the Boat since she can't be president anymore

Cater was a great president and visionary for our country. I am proud that he is endorsing Obama fully.

I am incredibly EMBARRASED for the Clintons. They know they have lost, so they'll do anything to undermine Obama's presidency since they cannot get it anymore.

In other words, Clintons are trying to pull everyone down the ship since they can't be in the white house again. VERY SELFISH AND SHALLOW OF THE CLINTONS.

    Go Go Obama.

I will never give anymore money to the Carter Foundation again for endorsing Obama and I will remind my friends to do the same.

I'm a major Senator Obama supporter, but he will look like a major fraud if he allows Hilary on his ticket.

My mistake. Inflation hit the 12-13% range in 1979 and 1980. Makes this an even better endorsment.

The endorsement by President Carter, a true humanitarian and tireless worker for peace in the world, comes at a time when it can tilt the superdelegates to go Obama's way!

Thank you Mr. President. I hope Mr. A Gore and other Supers will support Barack very soon. Today is better than tomorrow. Every single day counts and is important in the democratic fight against McCain and co.

    Informed Voter,

The worst president we've ever had already made his endorsement. George W. endorsed McCain a while back.

    And I care?
The sad thing is this might actually convince some people to vote for Obama.

Democrats need to unite but I don't see how putting Hillary as Obama's vice will be good for the US presidency.

Actually, for those counting, "Informed voter from florida", that would be Bush, not Carter.
