Schneider: Obama's blue-collar problem persists

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/03/sd.jpg caption=" A woman casts her ballot in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. "]
(CNN) - We've talked all season about Barack Obama's problem with those white working class voters, those blue collar voters. Is that problem persisting?

Yes, it is. South Dakota’s Democratic primary voters with no college degree voted as their peers in previous contests had: for Hillary Clinton over Obama, 60-40 percent. Meanwhile, well-educated, white collar voters continue to back the Illinois senator. Take a look at college graduates in the state: they voted for Obama, 53 to 47 percent.

The effort to win over these working-class voters is just beginning for Obama – and it looks like he has his work cut out for him.

You would think the blue collar workers who are feeling the economic crunch more than anyone ....would vote for Obama over McCain. I guess the like high gas, high food, home foreclosures, and the war....etc. The rich McCains don't know anything about financial difficulties, they're living LUSH

Schneider you can ask the questions to get the answers you want. The Obama supporters know that CNN is really Clinton News Network. You, Wolf, Lou and others are so far up Clinton's derriere it has become "Hillaryous!" Only Jack appears to lean towards Obama.

It will be a landslide victory for the Republicans. You don't have to be a Morris Woodruff to figure that one out, but thanks for bringing the issue up.

  7. Just 1 Of The 17 Million Plus That Voted Obama

The party doesn't have to push Obama anywhere! LOL Funny how there are more than enough Super Delegates out there to "save" Hillary's honor yet they have chosen not too even in the 11th hour to "buck the people's vote" which you and your kind claim isn't that. LOL

I think that the views of Arkansas Undertaker reflect the views of Pastor Wright in the white vs black war. I live in a small midwestern town and I can say that race has NEVER crossed my mind this electoral season. Figure out who the "real racist" are Mr Undertaker.

    Idiots!

Hillary should NOT even be a member of the Dem party, after this process.

Hillary does NOT have the experience needed. She has been running under Bill's past fortunes. But Bill has screwed all this stuff; so Hillary's service is useless!

With all due respects, hats off to Senator Obama for a campaign well done. He only needed four times the money and the aid of the press that slammed her and adored him… But, he did it with "politics as usual"… Well done sir.

So, to all of the Obama supporters that have continued to be so rude and disrespectful throughout this election… Word of warning… You NEED us, we don/t need you and your tone should shift soon because most Clinton backers will NEVER vote for Obama…

    Think before you speak…

Margaret, who said anything about losing..Since Hillary supporters are so adament about letting people vote (Yea, right), then how about we wait and see the results after all votes have been counted. The article was about exit polls, not the final results.

This is the moment for self reflection and self evaluation. Therefore, let us give it up for Senator Clinton the number two spot. I urge our democratic presumptive nominee to offer the number two spot for Hillary.

Doesn't anyone find it amusing that the people who generally have a lower intellectual capacity are the ones who also have trouble voting for a black man?

Ignorance and lack of intelligence go hand in hand, it seems.

    Execellent point!!!!!! I agree!

If there were a way to get less educated voters to vote in their best interest, we wouldn't have had Bush for 8 years.
