Warner and Kaine to campaign with Obama in Virginia

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/04/art.va.gi.jpg caption="Warner and Kaine are set to campaign with Obama Thursday."]
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama will kick off his general election campaign in the purple state of Virginia on Thursday – and two of the state’s most prominent Democrats, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, will be along for the ride.

Another high-profile Virginia Democrat, Sen. Jim Webb, is remaining mum on whether he will appear with Obama tomorrow, even though the newly minted nominee has scheduled an event in rural southwest Virginia, his home turf. Webb has yet to endorse a candidate.

Warner, the popular former governor who is now the frontrunner for the Senate seat left vacant by retiring Sen. John Warner, will campaign with Obama tomorrow in the city of Bristol, just over the Tennessee border. Warner was elected governor of Virginia in 2001 partly because he worked to win over rural voters in the southwestern part of the state, the very place Obama will campaign tomorrow.

Obama won the state’s primary handily on February 12, but he lost overwhelmingly to Hillary Clinton in the state’s rural Ninth Congressional District by 33 points, the first hints of a pattern of vulnerability among white, working-class voters that continued to nag him throughout later primary states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Gov. Kaine will appear briefly with Obama tomorrow evening at a rally in Manassas. The event will take place at Nissan Pavilion, a 25,000-seat concert venue in Manassas that in recent weeks has hosted acts like Radiohead and Kanye West.

Kaine has been one of Obama’s most ardent backers, and was one of the first prominent Democratic leaders to endorse the Illinois senator’s presidential bid in 2007.

THE MEDIA HAS GONE CRAZY. LEAVE HER ALONE. Obama's camp is truly running scared. OBAMA step up and make her your VP. Carter has become so desperate not to have Hillary on the ticket, he is talking now about Obama's negatives. WHAT A JOKE. I have truly seen the inside of the democratic party. Obama move more to the right or you will be in trouble. I hope you have not sold your soul to the Lib left because they will suck the life right out of you,

Obama unite the Party by chosing Hillary and you will win in a landslide.

Well, not everyone desires the same thing, and when it's forced on you it's just wrong!

If Hillary Clinton knew what was good for the Party, she would have conceded on Tuesday, and would have been campaigning with Obama on Thursday. She is very good at cutting her own political throat by constantly allowing her ego to get in the way.

That in itself is a sing of her rigidity, and complete lack of understanding the need to CHANGE.

To All the Working Women Who Support Senator Clinton:

Congratulations on the great success of your candidate and her campaign. You demonstrated tremendous loyalty and hard work.

However, unfortunately only one candidate can go on in the general election and that appears to be Senator Obama.

Some of you have said that you will never support or vote for Obama.

Remember, if McCain wins you will keep working but more money will be thrown into Iraq, America's Viet Nam #2. Since many of you will not be able to send your children to college due to rising gas and other prices, your children may have to go into the military to get veteran benefits for school. Vote Republican, then your children can go with your retirement money to Iraq. I hope at least your children will come back. Your money never will, except in the pockets of the filthy rich.

Why the demand for instant concession? After the tireless campaining on the part of both Obama and Clinton, the end is here...why is she not allowed to say "I'll take a few days to consider what I am going to do for the good of the party"? Just because she isn't doing it the way the boys want, she is being "blasted" and criticized....get over it....maybe she wants to cry!! If it was the other way around you bet Obama would be forgiven, even encouraged to let us know when he is ready.....all of this is proving her and her supporters right when they say she is being treated differently.

I'm also leaving the Democratic party to vote for McCain. Democrats don't need the empty suit Obama representing their party or this country in Washington.

Call me a Democrat for McCain.

How can a Hillary Supporter threaten a Obama supporter, I thought we were on the same team.
Look folks we can only have one winner and the race was grueling, but now is the time to unite. Did you forget it's McCain that has Bush policies, Did you forget Bush has the lowest Presidental ratings in history. Let's not forget this important cause which I thought was to bring respect, and dignity back to our government. This election is not personal – let's unite and move on.

I personally think it is a bad idea for Hillary to join Obama on the ticket, I think she should be in some form helping reform health care, but VP no way. It doesn't mean she is not qualified, it means that the vp's job have no say, they are to take all orders from the President, Hillary has a voice of her on and she can't be stifled in this manner. Have your voice Hillary you are an important role in our government, Join Obama and work this out.
Finally, democrats be careful we have republicans on these blogs pretending to be democrats to cause division between Hillary and Obama supporters, don't let this happen folks, there agenda has been all over the radio to cause such divison. Let's be unity and stand together..,

Gee Mike, and the Clinton's haven't had dealings with crooks? They are such honest trustworthy people? No wrongdoing has been proven between Obama and Rezko, so get over it.

    Come on now folks

Obama is the second Carter term while McCain is the second Reagan.

    Let's get real.

Who wants an Obama/Carter ticket? You think gas is high now? Wait to you see what obyama and carter want to do for you.

    Watch your wallet

HRC supporters, how long can you keep crying about how well Hillary did at the end? It is like this, Obama has a 20 point lead going into the fourth period, he can afford to take his foot off the pedal to give you guys some dignity, then here you are crying about how you were robbed, quit crying about it already, 18 million other people back Obama too.

Both Warner and Kaine made promises while campaigning for office only to break the promises once in. Does this mean that Obama will do the exact same thing since he is allowing the two main democrats in the state the opportunity to "shine" with him?

Congrats to Obama...sadness for H. Clinton. Warner and Kane will do well in their home state to support Obama. What does Hillary want? She wants the presidency and it alluded her even with the most popular vote. This is a telling story about historical landmarks. It also tells us that the people who supported her share her views. Hillary has displayed ugliness and it's because she has been planning for this for over five years. It's a hard pill to swallow. Yet, not only has she accomplished a historical feat....how greater is the historical feat of an African American running as President of the United States of America. I saw this white woman on TV said she would not vote for a black man. I prayed for her today. For if this is the only reason for her not voting for a black man is part reason why GW Bush became President. What a shame and McCain will have voters voting for him for the same reason. I prayed for all the lost souls who judge people by the color of their skin only.

What is wrong with you people who say Hillary will do anything to be president? That it's all about Hillary? I'd say the same thing about Obama. It's crystal clear that everything he does and says is a deliberate manipulation to get what he wants. Whether he's qualified or experienced enough, just doesn't matter to him. It's all about him.
    Pathetic.

hillary clinton would have been the candidate to change and shape america, but the media, the deleggates, and the superdelegates knew all along what they were doing. hillary should not be open to the vice president spot, that's like a slap in the face. what a big disrespect to the woman that would clean up the mess after 8 years of bush and dumb, dumb chaney. the superdelegates should have made the decision for hillary to be nominated and obama for vp spot. i have a bad feeling about november, meaning mccain as president. as for nancy pelosi she should side with hillary knowing that she is the first woman speaker of the house. i hope hillary go back to live her life with her family, and let mccain and obama go at each other.

All you "Clinton" supporters who claim to be for "your" candidate are the most selfish people. When Clinton gives her support to Obama(she will wether she's on the ticket or not she will give her support), and she says to all of you that voted for her to support her and vote for Obama in November will you? From what I've read you selfish people won't. So that would make all of you hypocrites. You people would rather put up with McCain and never see our soldiers return home, just to keep a black person from becoming president. How sad is that. So all you "Clinton" turned McCain supporters just stay home November 4th. Real Americans who want a change don't need you.

AS FAR AS I AM CONCERN, THE MEDIA PICKED THE CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT. I SAY BIG MISTAKE WHEN MCCAIN WINS IN NOVEMBER. I FEEL THAT CNN, MSNBC, AND FOX SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO HILLARY FOR ALL THEIR NEGATIVE REMARKS , ESPECIALLY MSNBC. HILLARY WAS TREATED LIKE A NOBODY AFTER OBAMA WAS NOMINATED. THE U.S OF AMERICA IS FALLING APART, AND ALL YOU REPORTERS DO IS KNOCKDOWN HILLARY. SHE RAN A GOOD CAMPAIGN AND SHE DESERVE RESPECT. THINK ABOUT ALL THE WOMEN BACK IN THE EARLY 1800'S WHO FOUGHT LONG AND HARD FOR WOMEN'S RIGHT. GIVE THEM RESPECT AS WELL AS HILLARY. IN MY HEART SHE IS THE PRESIDENT. I KNOW WHO I WILL BE VOTING FOR IN NOVEMBER. J(J.M).

marlon: Obama is not officially the nominee until August. That means the superdelegates could have switched at any time. However, I don't think they will. The are too afraid of Dean, Reid and Nancy big mouth. And what happened to Oprah, Kerry, Richardson. I didn't hear of them congratulating him on his win. Oprah's ratings dropped 7% because of her campaigning for Obama. I am sure Kerry and Richardson are looking for a job in Obama's administration if he is elected. And that's a big IF. Any commentor for Obama that thinks he can run this country without help their are fooling themselves. He is too inexperience to handle it. All he wanted to do is make history for himself but he hasn't made it all the way. He needs to be president. Furthermore he is not black or white he is MULATTO to stay.

Vote McCain. The Democrats are a total mess. Their speciality is losing elections. Heck...they can't even run an election !

USA will do just fine under John McCain. He has the whiskers. He's got the credentials, experience, military service and he's fiscally responsible. Obama will raise taxes through the roof to keep the thousand promises he made.

Time to stop federal funding for the NAACP for a start.
