Obama to campaign in Virginia with Webb

Obama's campaign sees Virginia as a 'pivotal' state.

Obama's campaign sees Virginia as a 'pivotal' state.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Newly minted Democratic nominee Barack Obama will kick off his general election campaign on Thursday with a pair of campaign stops in Virginia, signaling that the Illinios senator thinks he can turn the once solidly-red state into a Democratic pick-up this fall.

The day will culminate with an evening rally in northern Virginia, where Sen. Jim Webb, often mentioned as a possible vice presidential candidate, will make his first campaign appearance with Obama.

Virginia has not voted for a Democrat in November since Lyndon Johnson took the state in 1964, but for more than a year, Obama's campaign has cited the state's 13 electoral votes as part of their argument that he can re-shuffle the electoral map this fall. Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said the commonwealth will play a "pivotal role" in the general election.

Don't you think CNN favors democrats?

    Number of stories:
    Hillary Clinton (1683)
    Barack Obama (1627)
    John McCain (856)

A four to one ratio (democrat / republican) – way to go CNN.

    To Obama vs McCain:

Jeff is most likely an "Operation Chaos" repugnican trying to stir up us TRUE democrats since their plan to get Hillary elected failed. The weakness of his reason for voting McInsane is a telltale sign to me. I'm sure he's doing SO much better right now under a Repugnican president that he's just ITCHING to vote another one back into office. /sarcasm :-/

    Obama/Sebelius or Nunn '08!

    Dear Betty,

Try to think deeper than a bumper sticker. I know it's difficult, as the democrats generally don't want you to.

you know alot of this hatred for Obama, has nothing to do with Hillary's lose or McCain's experience, the racism is still there, when you would rather have your country go through the same thing as it has for the last 4 years, based on your own ignorance (rasism), then vote for the democrates (black man), that shows you some people will never change. I really fell sorry for those folks and their children growing up

Jeff, Obama has outlined plans. You have to go to his web site and READ them. I went to a town hall meeting where he talked about specifics. Once the debate starts, you will have a better understanding of his plans for the country. And by the way, he and Hillary have very little differences in policy.

I don't see Webb as a VP. I truly believe it will come down to Richardson or Edwards. Even though Edwards said he doesn't want it he will not turn it down if it is offered to him.

Go Bama GoBama. This is how we do it. Time will heal us and bring us all together. The ones that are going to vote McSame were not with us anyway and they have no brains. McSame will send their kids off to that war to DIE and think nothing of it. Their right to their own body wii be gone. This is serious business and some act as if it is some childs game where they can take their toys and go home.

Charlotte is one of them that I am talking about. I hope that after the dust clears her mind and heart will too. Boxers fight hard in the ring trying to win because that is the name of the game but after the fight they hug and or shake hands and move on to the next battle and ours is John McSame.

Waah waaah friggin' wah! Clinton supporters are whining, "The Obama supporters weren't nice to us, so we're not voting for him!" Bohonkey! SOME of the Clinton supporters were just as nasty to the Obama supporters. It shows a HUGE lack of intelligence on part of some of the Clinton supporters to vote in the WORST idea for a president- McCain- just because, "Waaah waah the Barak supporters weren't nice to me!". 1) Get over it. 2) Do Hillary a favor and DON'T vote for McCain.

Jim Webb is very smart but he is not a good campaigner. I went to several fund raising events for him and it is painful to watch. I think he is a person of integrity but he lacks warmth. A far better choice as VP or stump collaborator would be Mark Warner, who is very well respected, brilliant and a fiscal conservative. He was a terrific governor. Virginians would ove that .

Hey, to all those that say they want change. Barack just requested that the DNC stop taking money from any lobbyists or pacs. First time ever in history! How's that for change and your empty suit arguments. Has your candidate done that?

It wouldn't matter if Obama's running mate was Mickey Mouse..the black mouse. The Yound and Dumb, College Educated Elite, Desperate for any Black, Blacks...would vote for this wolf in sheeps clothing. Fortunately an election that he will not win. No Super Delegates in the next one. If it's contested, the supreme court is primarily Republican. For the first time in my life I THANK GOD this is so.
Run on the Independent Ticket Hillary...you wouldn't even need to campaign. Let America see the effect Jerimiah Wright had on America. Besides the 18 million who supported you...you'd have millions more who supported Osama Obama, before learning he was a Radical Black Racist with a lot of criminal, marxist contacts.
