Al Gore to endorse Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/11/art.gore0608.gi.jpg caption="Gore has not ruled out a future presidential run."] (CNN) - After remaining neutral throughout the Democratic primary season, former Vice President Al Gore is officially backing Barack Obama's presidential run, and will appear with him at a Michigan campaign event Monday night.

"A few hours from now I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama," said the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee in a fundraising e-mail sent to supporters Monday. "From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States."

Former presidential candidate John Edwards also announced his decision to endorse Obama at a rally in the crucial fall swing state.

John – if you really meant what you wrote, then why did you take the time to write a comment? Simply sad, sad, sad...

By the way, for the Clinton supporters who wish to see Obama lose this year so she can run again in 2012....if this were to happen, I bet Al Gore would run again. And he'd win the nomination. Obama supporters will not vote for Clinton for president if she doesn't aggressively campaign for Obama and honestly mean it. She has a chance to run in 2016, but only if Obama wins this fall.

    Obama 2008

If Obama loses, we suffer for four years. Roe vs. Wade is overturned and the Supreme Court is dealt a major blow with two conservative justices.

In 2012, Al Gore would be elected President. Hillary Clinton would never run again.

  9. VOTE 08!!!

What is the point in his endorsement after he is the nominee? This is just a formality…would have meant something if it happened before the fact.

    Oh well…welcome aboard Gore.

it is not overstating it to say we let the entire world down-not to mention ourselves and our childrens' debt-ridden courtesy of the filthy neocons!!!

american is TOO GOOD for these neocons, and john mccain is a NEOCON!!!!

One loser supporting another John? I only wish I could have seen how much more wonderful our country COULD have been had Al Gore been elected president instead of Bush. Loser? Obviously someone doesn't do their homework. I am so glad to see he is backing Obama. I guess John wants another 4-8 years of spending millions of dollars a day, digging us even further into debt. I'll love to see how our economy is 4 years from now if another Republican is voted in..

Don't matter. I will not vote Obama with no experience. The only experience he has is the people in his closet advising him how to delegate the job to anyone but him!

Rise up and defeat McCain!!! Every serious Democrat in America should be working to elect Obama....and let's hope that the legacy of Tim Russert's integrity and sense of fair play can influence the behavior of the campaigns....the RNC, the DNC, the PACs and the 527s.....I'm already sick of the pettiness, especially from the McCain side...I hope this is the most lopsided victory in history, from the Presidential ticket to the Congressional seats....

    Shame on your, Al Gore.

You should do something to restore the democracy in this hijacked party rather than to endorse someone who indeed has no any legacy for the nominee...

Are you too old to do something to save this party and this country???
